"What 3D Program Should I buy?" Not one person here can really tell you what's best for you, as everyone has their own taste in workflow. Try the demo or learning edition of the program you're interested in, this is the only way to find out which programs you like.
if you go to www.caligari.com and click on the Architecture Course there is one sample movie you can view which may give you both some ideas. However I believe it's the next movie that shows the actual construction of the vaulted ceiling. but still this maybe give you some food for thought. Hope that helps some, Steve
Thanks, the "sample video" was very enlightening! Unfortunatly it ended just as it was about to show the part I REALLY wanted to see!! :-( I hate when that happens! I can't figure out how to get it "skined" from where the video ended...at least not in Cinema 4D. Oh, well...I'll sleep on it, maybe it'll come to me :-) Thanks for your help!
Yeah I'm sorry for teasing you like that. I thought it might be helpful still ... I do have Cinema 4D 5 (the one that was givin out in a magazine.) and here's an idea if you don't like doing the booleans. once you have the "bars, struts" built (like was shown in the video) couldn't you make splines that followed the struts and then Loft them? I haven't used cinema much so this might not even make sense hehehe Steve

Wow I think you've done a great job on that. Well I must admit I don't use C4D very much I also have trueSpace and I use that for most things. I've got a AMD 800 Windows 98 256 Meg RAM. The Cinema 4D SE was from a magazine ... and I played around with it ... but I couldn't get my head around modelling everything with splines and lofting and such. (I'm sure I've just not spent enough time with it) But once again I think you've done a great job going the boolean route
Thanks, I'm glad you like it! I'm still working on it, have a lot left to do!. I'm running C4D 7 on a Mac, (G4 Dual Ghz).. I was hoping you were a Mac user as well...not that I'm holing it against you or anything! I may have been able to help you out though if you were. Thanks again for your help and comments! I'll keep ya posted on my progress!
