Description

Although Kodak Photo-CD does its best it is not easy to get orange on the screen. But hey, no wonder, orange is a color that can NOT be represented on an RGB-screen (and representation on paper is even worse in CMYK, although color-systems as Pantone offer special inks that can be used to print orange correctly) because it does not belong to the gamut of RGB-colors. Although this slide is old you should see it and compare it with this picture on screen, you would be overwhelmed by the warm tones. Back in the 80ies and early 90ies I shot many sunrises (as the very beginning of my gallery shows) and this one is shot with reflections of the early sunlight on the water of the Rhine close to Rhenen where the notorious Grebbeberg is situated, a location where many soldiers died in WW II (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_history_of_the_Netherlands_during_World_War_II for more information about this tragedy). Well, I think I'm going to hate orange... Living in Haarlem 4 days a week I found a shop where you can buy nothing but orange stuff... preparing the World Cup in Germany ! lol, of course there are exceptions... and this sunset is one for sure ! One more fantastic upload, Jan-Carel, with great explanations ! :~)

Well, orange is not a primary color, nor a secundary color in any color mixing palette (cyan, magenta, yellow and red, green, blue)... Sorry Jan-Carel, but hey, that just shows how unique the Dutch national colour is LOL. Terrific peaceful and nostalgic shot here, JC!

Orange is a secondary colour. It's a mix of red and yellow which are primary colours. Nitpicking aside, I think the oranges and purple haze around the edge of the grass are really effective. This looks a good place to sit.
