For those wondering about Male morphs...this is not a figure to meet all needs and replace Michael...but you do get some great alternatives and ways to make some of the "pretty boy" faces I wish I could have achieved with Michael.

Except for the hair and manipulating the coloration in Photoshop, there is no postwork to this render. The base faces are a great starting point that, as Anton points out, blending various faces in small increments...adding individual morphs that change structure (nose, brows, chin, etc.)...there's no end of what you can do.

This is a face I made with the V3 morphs...a darkish skin tone...looks a little ethnic...a bit dreamy with the deep lids...just what I wanted.....................for now...heh.

So, is there an Adam's Apple morph? I didn't notice one in the above render.

PheonixRising ( ) posted Wed, 18 December 2002 at 3:35 PM

Momcat, The ethnic morphs are complete faces unto themselves. Some are young..some are old..some are pretty girl..some are more common looking. Chinese for example is older and Japanese is a teenager. They are more subtle than the V2 faces and blend well with any other morph. So the answer is you have both types to work with. There's the standard assortment of shaping morphs. Now that morph injection is possible, we can always release additional morph injection pack over time to fill the gaps. I don't know how they are being packaged. Sorry.

Anton, you mentioned propack as being compatible with MOR Injection (or whatever it was called). Poser 4 vanilla works as well, correct? Eric

Cris_Palomino ( ) posted Wed, 18 December 2002 at 4:56 PM

Dave...I wasn't after making Michael, but just as I stated...a "pretty boy" which you can't make with Michael...not to my satisfaction, in any case. But that's what's great about these Millenium products...you have so much to choose from. Cris

Thanks for the male face. I think he looks a bit feminine, especially in the lips, but that's probably the texture map. When you come out with Mike 3 (patience, what's that?) I hope that the mesh will be able to use V3 maps (with a few exceptions, of course.) I buy a lot of Stephanie maps just so Mike has more textures. (I make sure the Steph map packages have a "no make-up" option because blue eyeshadow just doesn't do him justice ....) Well, time to go back to haunting the Daz site. Is it there yet? Is it there yet? Is it there yet?

Thanks. PS: I used the Daz Global Lighting Set on all of these. Just the default set. "Pink Snowcone" was used in the first ASian image I posted here. That is what allows the real shadows yet vibrant colors. Notice the hair can cast nice shadows and yet the skin still glows. Rendered in P4

Momcat ( ) posted Wed, 18 December 2002 at 9:23 PM

Yup, I love that lightset. I noticed that it really brings out the detail in dark skinned characters. It's very difficult to light them properly in Poser do to the lack of radiosity. The light usually just gets absorbed by the texture, and the details are lost. Those lights change that, and really add life to the figure. I highly reccommend them for anyone working with dark skinned characters.

There is a male breast morph asside from the male morphs. You can make your own males or blend them with ours. Our faces and morphs can be used as a base. You can make her look almost like anyone you want. This is Rob's pic from the PoserPros Post. Using the musculature morphs you can dial these down. If you want less of it and boobage appears just turn up the male chest morph. Anton

V3 is looking great IMHO! And Anton, I love that hair! It has a rich fullness and depth that you don't see much of. I have to assume that the redhead above (post #163) is wearing the same hair but with a "wavy" morph? Are there other morphs to the hair?

PheonixRising ( ) posted Wed, 18 December 2002 at 10:18 PM

Thanks. There is a wavy morph. The Thai lass in the top image is wearing it too. It was a flatten morph that gets real big and fabo in reverse. There are some subtle shaping, movement and length morphs. But it is a conforming figure so something like a real short morph would ruin it cause the chest of the chair would be morphed up by the chin. That would make for aweful posing. All the long hair here is that hair.

anton, i know it's a bit late for it, but maybe for vicky4: you should consider modeling your figures with arms down or max at 45 bent upward. why? you see, esp. in your post #172 and further, how the texture on her shoulders gets stretched when she holds her arms close to the body. that could be avoid, imho, if the textures is originally projected on stretched polygons. bending the arm upward would only produce a natural effect of "compressing" the skin.

Here is a very sloppy render of a quick male blend using male morphs and female morphs. Quick test texture. Looks like your average college guy I think. Someone's brother. This was done by spinning some muscle morphs backwards and a few ethnic face morphs. Nothing facy. Just to show you a rough idea. Anton

Will Michael 3 have female morphs? Perhaps Stephanie will be incorporated into Mike? Thanks for listening! Jay

Thanks, Dan... and yes next March I would have gone into the exhibit hall looking for lions to beard if this model hadn't been more accurate. Anton, thanks for the info and for checking (not Mimic compatible? :snort!: I guess that you've seen "Thumb Wars"?). A slightly perverse sense of humor is a life-saver in today's world. Maybe she can't wiggle individual toes, but now she can wash her feet (like the classically French bronzes and the Greek marbles) without looking like Barbie. The new knees look a lot better, too. The "male morphs" are troublesome unless you can easily change body proportions. (VirtualSite brought this up elsewhere.) Hmmm... I'll append a picture of a friend and me. Brian is 5" taller (and at 6'2 1/2" is a tall man), but my waist is quite a bit higher than his! Males generally have much longer torsos than we do. Will there be a morph for changing the proportions like this, or will we have to scale each body part? BTW, thanks for being so patient despite being bombarded with questions. Carolly

Cheryle ( ) posted Thu, 19 December 2002 at 1:26 PM

With all due respect, i do not think this model was ever intended to be a "do all, be all" model. With any luck and enough relentless persual, Daz hopefully will be considering a revamp of Michael into a Mike3 version. But for now, for those of us who want a slender, fine boned, sensitive male type humaniod, this will do the job quite nicely. After all, not all of us like that heavy bone, beefy look in males, and i am grateful for the options that i have seen so far. It's a good point you brought up tho- because i was wondering about collapsing the waist length myself- for dwarven, gnome type humaniods. Personally- i would like to see that option in an add on pack, just to help keep the initial cost of the model reasonable, and to allow time for further development. After all DAZ has a full plate, with trying to get the daz studio out, ( that is still being worked on?) continuously bringing us new models (free, brokered and those created inhouse). Just my 0.01 worth ( only 0.01 because i have been slacking this month ;D )
