I agree with the 1 image per day. However I liked the idea of Forced Image but I would like a bigger punishment maybee never post a naked Vicky again!or partly naked! The surprise is good too.... ....anne nicole smith-fantasy armor....OH MY....

Imagine the poor soul that spends hours or days working on an image that they feel looks pretty good and then they post it only to find it gets buried so far under so many images that look alike done by many of the same names day in and day out. That poor soul's image didn't even have a chance to be seen and it actually is a negative feeling for that person. Many people don't care what is posted as long as they can post something on and hourly basis....lord, don't they have something else they can do occasionally instead of spending every minute of their waking days slapping stuff together and posting it. If it's a WIP (work in progress)..post it in the WIP gallery. If it's a product for free stuff or the market place...post it in the Product Showcase gallery. How many of you people can do an image that looks really good without using a humanoid or animal figure? probably not many...yeah, Poser can do those too. Everyone need to break out of the rut they are in and try something different than what they are accustomed to doing for an image...expand you horizons.

I feel sorry for the poor soul whose ego and artistic impulse depends on the approval of a crowd. Yes, we do graphics to be seen...but do you really think landscapes will ever get as many hits as naked women laying about in ridiculous poses in absurd non-clothing? With very few exceptions, no. And do I want the audience that sits with sweaty hands looking for the latest body parts thrusting into their screen? Absolutely not...I want them to freely go elsewhere for their satisfaction. So you can create the pop art of the galleries and get mega hits. Or forget about trying to get mass approval and just do your own think and quit counting views. The view count is not meaningful. The way not to get buried is to do some promotion and marketing. You all expect the galleries to do your work for you. Sorry, it doesn't work like that in any world, even the virtual one. And, no, I don't get a lot of views. But I know why. And I'm fine with that. If you're unhappy with your views, don't blame it on the uploads to the gallery. That's not where the problem is, if indeed a problem exists (which I don't think it necessarily is...the fancy that a landscape will get millions of hits if it is the only thing posted in the gallery is an optimistic delusion).

I only post once in awhile, so all this has no bearing on my posting habits. But I think most people are like me and only post one thing every one or two weeks. At least that's me anyway ;o) Laurie

Same here Laurie, I don't post that often either. I only get to work on something for a couple hours after I get off work, so my images take considerably longer to do than other peoples...sometimes a couple of weeks to complete.

So everyone agrees then, everyone is encouraged(but not limited) to post their HEART, MIND, and SOUL, and not their BOWEL MOVEMENTS.

If the majority already limits it's postings to these figures, then the problem is solved. I think it is reasonable to tolerate the very few that do post frivolously. I don't think there is a need to carve anything in stone, does anyone?

sooooo....dialynn...how does one go about "marketing" oneself, here? and, how much time does it take? must i be able to be on icq, 24/7 letting folks know exactly what i am working on, and currying favor? how many yahoo groups do you suggest i join? does the system..."i'll vote/comment on yours, if you vote/comment on mine" work fairly? god forbid that anyone question/challenge this system. it is the most wonderful way to get few/none comments on your postings. the folks with the most votes/comments have the most friend among the group that votes/comments. i think that is one of the biggest factors that makes folks want to change the number of uploads to gallery. it's a damned shame that anyone should think their work is CRAP....because the gallery in crowd does not know their name. it's a damned shame, that so many of the older members may just lurk here, and no longer comment. i guess that they no longer play here because they had more talent than friends. i don't get alot of comments. i have no "group" to hang with....and, OMG...i have no STORE. (i have refused to sell here from day one...not enough integrity.) without making my textures and models available to the renderosity public at large....how do i "market" myself? i hate not getting very many comments. but, i worse hate going against my own grain. but, methinks...if i open a wee store....and have stuff that those that comment....and heavily use the "gifted" marketplace items of others, whether beta testing, or just as a goodwill "gift". tell me, dialynn....how does one "market" oneself? when, one refuses to go to market?

Posting argumentative threads like this is definately not a good way to market oneself. Poppi, you do nice work, it's a shame you are taking such a stand regarding the Marketplace. Mark

Dialyn's description of thrusting body parts is getting me excited. I think someone has a future in writing trashy novels :-) There's no reason why this place should be any different than the rest of the world. How many "real" artists were ignored because they: Didn't paint popular themes. Didn't sleep with the gallery owner. Didn't have rich, influential patrons. Didn't have the right political beliefs. Weren't the right race, gender or religion. Were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. ... People now considered masters were ignored or even vilified during their lifetimes. If external validation were their main motivation, they would have quit before producing anything of value. Trying to get ahead by eliminating the competition didn't work for Tonya Harding and it probably won't work in this case either. Of course, Tonya's other claim to fame, appearing in a porn movie would definitely increase your gallery hits. Breathe deeply and keep repeating to yourself, "It's only Poser, Vicky is not real and I'm not channeling Rembrandt." So, say goodbye to King Friday XIII, get back on the trolley and come back from the land of make believe. Now Fred is dead and I swear Lady Aberlaine looked like she was knocked-up the other day, so alas, reality intrudes even there.

"Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance." - H. L. Mencken
