Help !!! I went to a real estate site the other day and when I left the site, my main machine had been invaded by a company called "n-CASE - 180 Solutions" ,..........a spam and pop-up company. Well, now Bryce 5 will not load at all !!! I am periodically unable to type anything except caps. Does anyone know of a registry hack or anything else that will remove all traces of this piece of crap company from my machine ? I've tried reinstalling Bryce a number of times,.........I've used just about every piece of spyware removal software available,...AdAware, SpyBot etc......all to no avail. As well as being really frustrated, now I'm starting to get REALLY pissed off. And yes, I've tried to contact the company and have, as of this writing, recieved no reply. No real big worries,.........I've backed-up all my data(images, scene files, meshes, etc,.....to an 80 GB USB external HD,).....so I can always reformat my machine again, but that is a MAJOR pain in the butt. I'm not in the mood to do it again. But I suppose that's what I'll have to do if I can get no reliable answers or solutions. So, if anyone has any experience with this alleged company of alleged human beings(n-CASE - 180 Solutions) Please let me know, as I am getting very desperate,.............Thanks for your attention,........TOM(sackrat).

You really think I can sue ?!?! On what grounds ? As far as I know, stupidity on my part is not grounds for a civil suit. But believe me, I'd love to,........does $50,000,000 sound like a good figure ?

Well, if you get that much, hook me up with a couple hundred grand. Computers are property, so destructive software and invasion is like destruction of property, plus i think there are some laws pertaining to malicious programs auto-downloading onto your computer or something. Before you reformat, i'd get to google and search for Ad-Aware, run a deep scan of everything and see if that helps. Ad-Aware usually gets that stuff out pretty well, and if that doesn't work I guess you'll have to take more drastic measures.

dnload spybot s&d it finds and removes alot of that crap plus has an imunize function.. :^) If worse comes to worse dig into the reg yourself and yank it out..

I don't know what model or year you rpc is, but i know the newer ones have an auto-restore on them.... goes back i dont' know how long, I think you can set that... If you have that, you might wanna try it...

Spybot is free and would probably find that crap and get rid of it. I dont have the link, but do a google search and it will come up. Good luck! Doug

If you can...... restore to a date previous to that visit to the real estate site. I have had to do this and it worked ok. If you have to reformat though, don't just format. Do a low level format and write all 0's back to your drive. That will eliminate any garbage that a regular or high level format won't take care of. Your hard drive will be like brand new.

try a ctrl-alt-delete and look at the processes and applications running that appear there. Type any that you can't identify into google. There are some sites that have lists of process names and could direct you to a specific solution. good luck

spybot will get rid of it, i had it also..took it right out.then, run spybot regularly to keep the crap out.

Adaware is also a good free program to get rid of spyware and will get something spybot doesn't so use both.

This may be OT..Not sure why, but today I was surfing in here and clicked on forums, all of a sudden I lost my login and then internet.Nothing to do with my cable provider.Seemed almost as if I was invaded and had my config messed with.Unhooked my router and changed some IP config which got me back online.Now all is ok.

I had the same while surfing a music site. Nothing could get rid of it and in the end I reformatted my Pc. Had to call Microsoft as I could not re-activate my Windows XP (They were very nice and activated it). Worst of all I forgot to back up my Bryce library files (mats, skies etc.). All the materials and skies and obps I had backed up, but not the library files. I had to import all of them one by one again.

Man, i really hope that these f.....g spammers, one day messes with the wrong people and end up with concrete shoes. Hope you solve it.

Vile, you're reading my mind. :-) I just wanted to suggest that when I read your post. Sackrat, while you're at it, install a proper browser. :-P Or go to Internet Options and deactivate downloading of ActiveX controls and everything else similar in Explorer.

Funny that this came up my computer was just got by something called the Internet assistant! This was a tricky one cause I must have clicked what I thought was a close button to install it(that should be illegal). I then had this IE assistant which may or may not have been usefull the point being I didn't ask for it. Then when ever I would type an Internet search it would take me to a chinese web portal (weird!). When I finally found it in add/remove programs it was in jibberish and the buttons did not work.I did a system restore and bye bye IE assistant. Someone should take a kick in the shorts for writing that one. Keep yer code clean not mean.

Here's a weird ine for you, I'm working off line and I get pop ads in IE, I just dl Spybot, and was surprised at how much crap it found....;

Thanks everybody for the info, in the end Spybot and AdAware could not get everything, so I used some reg hacks and still there are some persistant little buggers out there, so, I will do a wiping of my HD and then a low level format(as recommended), then a full reformat(oh boy, just what I wanted to spend my Saturday doing)but I do agree with Rochr,........I hope these schumcks get what's coming to them one day ! Simple solution for avoiding problems like this: Turn off Javascript in your browser. In fact, turn off all active content (Java applets, Javascript, ActiveX). Also while you are at it get rid of IE and use Mozilla or Opera or something else which is less of an insecure pig. If you have active content turned off, you can't get pop-ups or any of that other crap. Some sites require Javascript for certain things. Those that actually require it for navigation almost never have anything worth seeing, so I never see those sites. In other cases I simply turn Javascript on when I need it, then turn it off. Honestly, the Internet would be a better place if everyone simply turned off Javascript and boycotted sites that require it for navigation. Redneck - pop-up free since 1994

Netscape 7.1 has a pop-up blocker built in along with tab browsing, etc. I never use IE unless I absolutely have to to access sites at work (which only work with IE :( ).

Pop-up blockers block pop-ups. Disabling active content ensures that nothing anyone dreams up later can harm you.

I don't have the Java machine on my system at all and although it means I can't do some things I'd like to do I have as yet not had any of these kinds of problems. All the active stuff in IE is very, very bad in my opinion 'cos it's like leaving a back door open for all sorts of destructive rubbish. Sorry this has happened to you sackrat but the last time this happened to me I had no choice but to reformat too. It suck's but sometimes it's the only way. 8) Catlin
