Okay...I have decided to try texturing, after having talked with Morris. She was able to point me in the right direction, but I think I am missing something. I have below a sample of what the texture looks like, but it still has a plastic look to me. How can I get it to look more real? I have heard someone talk about a "bump" map, but I have no idea how to use one, or apply one to a texture. This is for V1/2, and is created in PS7, if that helps any. Any help you all could give me would be so much appreciated.

And here is what she looks like with no hair.....and no postwork what so ever....this is a straight render from Poser4.

A quick a dirty bump map can be made by saving your existing texture as a greyscale image, then apply it as the bump. I imagine the "pros" also adjust levels when they do that, but I could be mistaken.

A very light grey noise map can also be used as a bump map - fill the texture with a light grey, add a noise filter and whalla: instant bumpmap. It will require some tinkering to look right - for one thing the head and the body texture are different size ratios so a bumpmap that looks good on the body will look way too coarse on the head. But it's good as a starting point. Nice texture btw, I like the eyebrows :o)

Two things that jump out at me immediately: The infamous glowing nostrils. Change the material to black. It' won't be perfect, but will help. Second, the eyes look artificial. The ring of light/white color around the pupil looks wrong. If you could create a more subtle shading, it might help.

All this wonderful advice! I am so happy =) Okay..first, the glowing nostrils. You say change the material to black. I am going to assume you mean in Poser itself in the highlights section? I'll definately give that a try. As for eyes looking fake....I was going for the "contacts" look. As you can tell, these are not regular eyes. Should I still try to get rid of the white ring? The eyes (I will admit) are not my own creation, but added to the texture after. Third, I take it the bump map is totally seperate from texture map? i.e duplicate the texture map as a whole different picture, and then make the changes? If this is true, then I will definately try that and see what happens. Thanks so much everyone =)

I find, making a realistic bumpmap in photoshop is: open texture> goto filters> noise> ad noise. goto image>ajustments>desaturate (this ll make it greyscale) go to image>ajustments>brightness/contrast, and ad some contrast, then finall, goto filters>stylize>emboss (angle-90/hight 30/amount 60%, you can play around a little here, use the Save for web option to make it a little smaller .I find these make real good skin and textile bumpmaps! (remember to save under a different name or you'll lose tghe original!)
