Sandmarine, you'll want to read through the following thread; http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12356&Form.ShowMessage=1690068 although it doesn't deal with a Sydney Bristow clone specifically, it applies to all real ppl and cloning them in 3D. I'm sure cloning her would be easy, as there is plenty of source material available. For more information on the subject you can also view; http://groups.yahoo.com/group/3d_celebrities/

sandmarine, Sandy is similar Jennifer. The things I would are; Scale the head to 102, and scale head in the Y 102. This will make the head look longer and thiner. Make the brow a little heavier. Add the bump to the nose. You might want to make the lip a little heavier Use chin protrude make the chin stick out a little more. Why do Garner? She's a man. You'd be better off using M3 and adding some curve (very little mind you). I really don't see the appeal of this woman at all. Maybe if she ate a sandich now and then. Also I think some people are falling into a kind of trap trying to emulate celebrities. Artists and comic book artists have this happen to them all the time. For example, William Shatner is very recognizable. If you saw him you'd know him instantly. But he's supposedly a real pain to draw and to look like Shatner. I think Garner and a lot of celebs are like this. You can spot them a mile away but You can't draw or capture their image easily on paper or in poser. Garner has features you're not going to get easily. The super strong jaw, the defined cheek bones, the shallow cheeks, the narrow small eyes, the eye closeness, the stronger jaw, the shape of the eye socket over the eyes etc. Small, tiny things that add up to a recognizable person. As an experiment, take that pic on the right and just trace it. Does the outline look anything like Garner? I bet not. If nothing else I think you need to characturize or over exagerate Garner features to get Garner. If you match her 100% you'll get a generic figure that no one can tell who it is.

hmm.. i disagree with Mason. :) i think that you can do people-look-alike using Poser. just take a look at RnRWoman's gallery. but it does take time and effort. if you want her to look the same, the right morph isn't enough. you'll need a texture that looks like her skin and lighting to compliemnt it. you might have to do some postwork as well.If you don't like the fact that we're trying to help someone with a problem they asked for help with, then don't read this thread. I, for one don't care whether she's pretty or not. Someone asked for help and I tried to give back what so many others had given to me. Look at what has been accomplished in a day here. A_ 's model is an excellent model, with the right texture I think A_ has got her down pretty good. I don't mind that my version falls short of that version, but if someone looked at mine and said I can do better than that and they did it, then what's wrong with it? Sandmarine's happy, I'm happy and maybe someone else finds pleasure in it. I didn't think Vicky's nose could be tweaked enough to get it right but A_ has shown it can pretty darn close. Just my opinion, read it or not!
I really appreciate everyone's efforts on this, a LOT! and I didn't want to start a "you shouldn't do celebrity clones" debate, all i said is that i needed a model who looked similar (not even necessarily "the same") as jennifer garner.
And mostly I think it wa because I saw the 3d Jennifer Garner in the Alias videogame.. I KNOW the people of the game had the real Jennifer to completely trace her whole body and they used Silicon Graphics worksstations and who knows what software to get it right. All I was thinking was whether you could accomplish something like that with Poser limitations... but I think I couple of you above there really nailed it!! I mean, props to you, because accomplishing that with Poser?? awesome!
thanks again to everyone for their input and work (I'll continue this on PMs, as I really don't want to fire up any debates).
Sorry, Sandmarine, I didn't mean to make you feel like you started something bad here. I just don't like it when someone seems to be bad-mouthing people trying to help each other out. I won't respond any more to this thread and will let it die as is. Thanks for the inspiring challenge and I glad you are happy with the results! Dr. Frank-N-Furter: "On the day I went away" Chorus: "Goodbye" Dr. Frank-N-Furter "Was all I had to say" Chorus: "Now I" Dr. Frank-N-Furter: "I want to come again and stay" Chorus: "Oh my" Dr. Frank-N-Furter: "Smile, and that will mean I may 'Cause I've seen blue skies Through the tears in my eyes And I realize I'm going home"
I'm just putting my two cents in. I was trying to give some input. and you can bet if it has anything to do with digital cloning, I WILL be reading it. xantor, I never said my work was perfect. but I do know the reactions I've gotten have been overwhelmingly positive, so I know I'm doing something right. I never commented on your Alan Alda pic, so I'm not sure why you're bringing that up. if memory serves correctly it was other people who were bashing it. and I do look around the galleries quite a bit and I see very few successful cloning attempts, just a lot of half-baked WIPs. still I applaud everybodys effort. Im just trying to encourage people to strive for the best results possible.
Anyone care to try out Michael Vartan? (just a question...)
Oh, and Max, could You please, please - give me the adress to the webpage I can find the Alias game info?
grey cat: wooow, it is the closest match i ever saw :) very well done. no polemic about J garner being pretty or not, beauty is into the eye which beholds ! (i do not find her attractive, but i admit they manage to "maek her look/fee"l attractive in the serie, and that is quite a challenge as well.. i mean clonign someone in poser is very hard, making spectators/watchers think someone is sexy even if they do not agree is had too :) problem for sandmarine is that he may not had the idea abotu how videogames are made.. and he was inspired and enthousiastic :) but you guies fulfilled his enthousiasm too :) i mean usually video game use real time 3d engine, that means low polygon meshs, low detail etc.. beliee it of not, most of the time, "celebrities" in a game are just pasted face texture over a very basic mesh, i mean game character meshes cannot have so many morphs for facial adjustement and it will be a rough shape nothing more. so far the only game i saw that TRIED to add a few morphing capabilities similar but unmatching) poser is Top spin: you can set many details such as nose shpe, brows, chin and jaw.. but so far, due to the need to animate it in real time, you won't find any game mesh as complex or detailed as a poser character ! even in doa, girls use the same body (barely any chest/size adjust) with same face, only hair cut and eye color do change :) so why is it hard in poser to do the same ? because developpers "cheat",as they have to, and we have detailed characters and wanna emulate undetailed ones that try themselves to emulate real persons :) good luck and if i did ot already say it: wooow grey cat !!! someone, though, told something through: if you clone someone known 100% accuratly, chances are that it will be unrecognizable and look like everyday people :) other option is to empathize or caricature traits and attitudes... so it depend on if you wanna clone Jgarner or S bristow cause they are different ! in fact, any "skinny" boyface looking character could acgt as a bristow wanabee... only need to choose what specific traits and characteristics make the character and the actor/actrss playing it "unique"
Grey cat, Kevschmev and Ariah, All EXCELLENT work....especially considering you had about 48 hours. They are all great characters. Are any of you interested in making these inj/rem files available? Either as freebies or as purchases? I would love to add them to my growing collection of characters. The work is very stunning.
jibrielson - Aria from the Children's of Dune? She's very much like Liv tyler in some shots! Supply some pics, I would like to see if I mean the right person, as I've actially did soemone similar to Liv Tyler...
And beonalert, if You want this character (the head morph) PM me. It's more of a custom morph, so I won't be doing the INJ/delta thing, but rather spawn morph and have it coded in the obj mover. If that's fine with you, let me know and the JG impersonation (not perfect) is yours. This goes to anyone who wants her!
well Grey, my approach may seem to be lacking artistic merit, but you'd have to try it for yourself before you could say it has no artistic value. its way more complicated than just some cookie cutter process. the head that is created from source material is just one part of an overall process. I make a lot of my own custom textures and trans maps as well as a custom setup inside poser 4. these pics don't render themselves, I put a lot of work into them much of it artistic.
