select ONLY the blade in max and go to the mesh tools ( not poly cause it's not in there) then hit the explode button, then name it blade or what ever, then go to the attach list and attach the blade back to gether, then export to poser and the blade will not be rounded like that. If you use UVMapper then it will separate all the verts in the mesh including the skull and that will make it faceted. I hope this helps.

I understand the pain of seeing a prop all worked smooth in Poser but frankly I would take it like it is right now. It is a wicked prop! your modeling rocks. I make weapons as my favorite type of modeling and it can be really irritating when you get those nice crisp edges and then they look rounded in poser. I had a bear of a time getting the weapons in my 'kung fu in a box' weapon set to look right in poser. There are 51 props and redoing them delayed its release to my store over a month. The Max hint from odeathoflife is petty slammin' if I used Max it would have saved me a bunch of work.
I reckon swords are one of the hardest things to do, smoothing wise..What you need to do is selectively split some polys but not others, and create cuts in just the right place, i think maybe with this you need a cut very close to the blade edge then 2 close to center to give it its curve back.......try smoothing it at a different angle in max then doing some cutting and splitting and maybe you can create the same look as you'll end up with in poser, save you swapping apps to check it......Steve

You can use uvmapper to do this, just import the .obj, make your selection and go under Tools/Weld or Split vertices. It will make it sharp again. There's a free version of uvmapper as well that you can use.in max : select the blade. i dont know if the sword is one single mesh or more. But select the mesh that contains the blade, go to poly level and select the polys of the left half of the blade. Remember to select the front AND back polys. With the selection press "Detach" and select the option 'as element' and press ok. Done. If you want smooth any region, select again the mesh, go to vertex level, select the vertices that u want smooth and press 'Weld'. Use this method to make sharp edges, cloth trims,... PoseRay can fix those smoothed edges. You can split the faces by crease and save it as an obj for Poser import.Check the gallery section of my site for examples of Poser import with PoseRay. Also read the tutorial in the manual.

"looks better, but the cutting edge locks smoothed too. The blade is a two elements mesh now, left side, rigth side. "If you want sharp edges, detach it". So, make the blade a 4 elements mesh : Front left, Back Left, Front Rigth,Back left. Believe me, you have a great mesh. Work on it. " Thanks for keep helping me. The blade i use now to make 4 elements is the blade AFTER detach (Left side) or the blade before doing any detach?
