tesign/Kalypso: I am in the UK. That also happened to me when I tried to select UPS rather and royalmail or express overnight delivery - have you tried selecting an alternate delivery method? i settled for Express overnight :) Robo2010: At the payment stage there are links to click at the bottom of the page concerning payment methods other than cc - i cant remeber exactly what they are but they are definately there - good luck :)

xantor ( ) posted Fri, 18 February 2005 at 9:15 AM

Robo2010 you could try sending katherine (curious labs) an IM, though it looks like she might just be a bit busy at the moment.

"also offers you the majestic Winter Queen Figure Pack, a beautifully designed box created in the Winter Queen theme " Is this one thing (a special package design) or two (some kind of digital content/code/script, details still to be revealed, PLUS a special package design). It's really ambiguous at the moment, at least to me.

who3d ( ) posted Fri, 18 February 2005 at 9:32 AM

It seems that much is unclear. Another day in Poserdom! Cliff

tesign ( ) posted Fri, 18 February 2005 at 9:52 AM

Thank you Hawke. I tried all the other two possiblity but in vain. The other thing is that when you select one of either, it move on to to the error message without giving a chance to select your country region. Much the same, default at "Royalmail", the moment you select Japan Asia (hfor me)...it straight away proceed to the error message that the locatio address is different etc..

war2 ( ) posted Fri, 18 February 2005 at 10:04 AM

yep who3d if you have a vat number you can use that when making an online purchase but thats only an option for corporate users. as for export fees to austrlia thats my fault never realized that he lived in australia, thought he was an eu citizen complaining about vat (which is pretty common:P), should have read it more carefully :)

No problem pre-ordering the upgrade now (with a formerly rejected UK serial). Very smooth transaction. Thanks for sorting this out. For anyone else in the UK that's been wondering about VAT and Shipping costs, I can tell you that I was charged: 82.00 Poser 6 Special Edition Upgrade 15.72 Tax 7.84 Royal Mail Shipping Total 105.56. Hi, First, I sincerely apologize for those left unanswered until now. Different time zones, more than 23 Poser boards amongst the other urgent details of the moment will require me to cover the most urgent issues right now. Ill try to answer as much as possible throughout the weeks ahead, but do ask to please not misinterpret any less than desired response right now as our lack of care to your inquiries. Those who are now receiving errors outside of the serial number issue I am collecting data and sending off to our DR-store team. Anyone who tried to pre-order and had difficulty can rest easily in knowing that we will make sure to get you the Poser 6 Special Edition product. Mail order and items of this sort may I please ask that you visit our FAQs in addition to posting? I may not get to you in time, and there are a considerable amount of helpful details available there. ORDER FAQs http://www.curiouslabs.com/article/articleview/1220/1/529?sbss=529 + Poser 6 Pre-Order FAQs http://www.curiouslabs.com/article/articleview/1342/1/586?sbss=586 i.e., What payment methods do you accept? We accept Visa, MasterCard/Euro Card, Discover, American Express, Diner's Club, JCB, and check cards or ATM cards, so long as they are connected with one of the major credit card companies listed above. You can safely enter your entire credit card number via our secure server, which encrypts all submitted information. We also accept Checks, Money Orders and Wire Transfers. If you choose to pay by Check, Money Order or Wire Transfer select the appropriate payment method on the payment page, and directions will be provided to you after you have fully submitted your order. E on/Vue plug-in collaboration will be one of the priorities. But that is not to say that the Maya, Cinema 4D (just now released), 3D Studio Max and other necessary plug-in support will be left on the side lines. But that take some time to accomplish all. Hopefully its a help to know that we see this as important and necessary. There will not be a repeat of the Macintosh release falling so far behind the PC. The plan is a simultaneous platform release, but I do know, however am not intimately involved in the engineering details that the Macintosh release has historically been a bit tougher to finalize so as a personal thought to add, if for a needed reason the Macintosh is not released on the same day as the PC, it will not be far behind at all. But again, we seem to be on track for the dual platform release schedule. Those disappointed in not getting more feature, date or release, content details right now, I do again apologize. I will my best to keep you informed, but also to make sure you are getting the right details. Last, Id like to let people know Ive received their IMs. 168 this morning which Im heading to now. If you havent heard from me on IM yet you will soon. With kind regards, Katherine

XENOPHONZ ( ) posted Fri, 18 February 2005 at 12:35 PM

Everyone should go for the Poser/Vue combination. It's the color of the future.

I forgot to add details on Poser 6 Special Edition for those who have issue with Shade 7 designer LE (may already have it or may not need it) in regards to the price, you are not paying more for the Winter Queen Figure Pack, or Shade 7 designer LE. They are perks of ordering while this Special Edition is available. I believe those who received the email on the Pre-Order promotion also received the following paragraph: Poser 6 Special Edition will be available by preorder for $239 US / 219 Euro / 150 Pounds which will increase after the release of Poser 6. Curious Labs is now offering Poser 6 at closer to market currency value outside of the US, making this product an even more affordable power-solution worldwide. When the Poser 6 Special Edition runs out, Poser 6 will be available for $249 / 229 / ₤157. We will offer an upgrade from designer to standard for those who prefer this. Otherwise, if you get the P6SE and dont want or need Shade 7 designer LE, you havent lost any value for your money spent. and you may just end up knowing someone you could gift designer to. For upgrade pricing, the $129 US / 119 Euro / 82 Pounds price will remain the same those purchasing upgrades during the Poser 6 Special Edition promotion, will receive the Poser 6 Special Edition. Those who choose to wait until after the Special Edition runs out, will receive the same pricing options for upgrades. Kind regards, Katherine

Those who need to offer contact details in regards to the Special Upgrade offer of $89, please IM me the following: Name Physical Mailing Address Email What Product or Products you use from Curious Labs and in the 3DCG arena. If you have already IM'ed me with details that do not include the last above, no worries. Knowing the products you use helps us to understand your product needs a bit better when sending out updates and information. If you are not eligible for the $89 offer but are just not getting emails from us, check your SPAM first please, then make sure you have checked the box asking to receive email from CL, and last - please email support@curiouslabs.com with all of your details and title your inquiry "NOT GETTING EMAIL FROM CURIOUS". Again, there are a ton of inquiries coming in for all types of reasons. This is an important topic for us, but you may experience some delay in an answer. Until we can see what solution will work, I will keep posting the news that goes out on email to the boards so you will keep up on details. With kind regards, Katherine

Curious_Labs ( ) posted Fri, 18 February 2005 at 2:56 PM

Hi - First Philywebrider, I'm sorry but Digital River only processes order via online. If you're having specific problems, IM me and I'll work it through with you. One other important item regarding the Poser 6 Special Edition product................. .............the Shade 7 designer LE product that will be included WILL INCLUDE THE POSER 6 UPDATER for PoserFusion. Katherine, you mentioned a Vue plug-in. Does CLabs have any plans to better support integration into Bryce? I know DAZ is working this way via D|S and their Bryce turbo importer, but I'm interested in hearing if CLabs is also planning on any support for Bryce users.

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

I dare you, while there is still time, to have a magnificent obsession. --William Danforth

Katherine-What's your e-mail address? In regards to the special Winter Queen up-grade for $89.00, does it come with everything the full version comes with, box etc? I never got the special e-mail so I'm going to send the information you requested. I also have the order number, the date ordered. the date shipped, the authorization response code, and the authorization code. Do you need any of those items? I was the third person to place order for Poser5. I gotta ask...does Poser6 have the same kind of protection codes/registration, etc as Poser 5 had when it was first shipped? Kind regards

Curious_Labs ( ) posted Fri, 18 February 2005 at 3:37 PM

Hi Philywebrider, For the people purchasing with the $89 Early Adopter's coupon - they DO get the entire Poser 6 Special Edition product. And the details you have are very much sufficient. If you would rather IM me than email (my email looks worse than the IM list right now), I can get this taken care of for you. Last, no - there will not be the EULA as was presented in Poser 5 initially! Kind regards, Katherine

Jovial ( ) posted Fri, 18 February 2005 at 4:05 PM

Successfully completed my pre-order for Poser 6 SE.

I do have a few questions:

  1. Shade LE download link is already available. Should I download Shade now and, if so, will that make the payment go now (a partially filled order) OR will Shade be updated for Poser 6, in which case I ought to wait for the Poser 6 release?

  2. Is this free version of Shade LE upgradeable to the Shade Standard version for the usual LE to Standard upgrade price?

  3. I have not seen any mention of compatibility with Poser 5. Will everything in Poser 5 work directly in 6 (sorry if I missed this information anywhere). Will my runtimes and PZ3 scenes be available/usable in Poser 6?

  4. I have actually upgraded my Poser 5. When I install Poser 6, will I still be able to run Poser 5 as an alternative to 6 (should the need arise)?

Thanks in advance of a reply. I guess I am set to find out all the answers in due course due to already having flashed the cash. Oh well!

Regards from Jovial.

If there is anyone to thank at Curious Labs, it has to be Katherine. She put herself on the frontlines, barbed wire, artillery, machine guns, and all. :) These pre-order problems are really something that CL and DR should have ironed out beforehand, with EgiSys needing a good whack.

C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg off.

Thank you Kuroyume0161, but honestly, I'm just the one communicating.

Our entire crew at CL would deserve the thanks rather than myself, as they have been working around the clock to work with DR on fixing the issues. Digital River is a new service provider for us and there was just no way to know what problems might be in place before the pre-order launch. They have acknowledged the mishap from their end enough to make good on the upgrade difficulties for ALL upgrade customers in the pre-order launch period up to February 22nd - which should be public soon.

I'd rather thank all of you for the patience and efforts to get through the glitches.

With kind regards,
Katherine

I meant to tell you this in the IM's but kept hitting the 2000 character limit, even though Word counted the IM as 1869 including all spaces. Thanks again!

Hi,

No worries on my time for these matters, really. I will however, be pretty sparse on the boards over the weekend, possibly some notes though. Then in the office on Monday.

I also have phone numbers for Digital Rivers Customer Service (finally). For Europe, the UK and Rest of World, they have one number located in the UK.

Local calls from the UK: 0870.44.32188
Calls to the UK center out of country: 011.44.870.44.32188

For the US, it's either 1(800)656-5426 or, (952)646-5000.

Please use their CS for order problems only. And those I have been in direct contact with via IM, please rest assure that I will continue to work the issue through with DR you have already communicated to me so you will not have to start from ground zero with a Digital River customer rep.

For those who we're taking care of for the $89 special upgrade, we'll continue to work with you directly on this to the point you can place your order properly with the coupon. And last, if you're not getting emails from us, please keep using the process of using our direct "contact Customer Service" form with the title "NOT RECEIVING CURIOUS LABS EMAIL".

Hopefully you will all have a good weekend ahead.

With kind regards,
Katherine

I honestly can't believe this! I've just received an email from Digital River which acknowledges the difficulty some people had with pre-orders. (really wasn't much of an inconvenience for me) Digital River understands and appreciates how much Curious Labs values their customers and we have generously agreed to compensate you for this inconvenience. We are emailing you now to let you know that ALL Poser 6 Special Edition Upgrade orders completed between the launch date of February 16 and February 22, 2005 will receive 15% off the upgrade price. You do not need to do anything to receive this discount. The price of the upgrade that you ordered: Poser 6 English Special Edition Upgrade from Poser 5 - Preorder, will be reduced by 15%. Frankly I'm speechless! I certainly wasn't complaining earlier. My prior edited message stated that I was over-the-moon with this deal for Poser 6, even before Miss Teri steps out of the shade! (I think the clich are obvious :) Thank you Katherine Thank you Curious Labs

Katherine, Have coding and testing been completed on P6? Is there new content (figures) in P6? If there is new content, what things will be included? New human figures? New animals? If there are new human figures, are they mapped the same as Don/Judy, V3/M3, or a new mapping requiring new textures? Are there any improvements to the Python interface?

"But I live in Australia, I'm not subject to VAT. And other people that have already ordered have said that VAT is added ON TOP of the higher price." For any other Australians out there - I just ordered the upgrade from P4 and the total cost is as follows: 109.65 EUR 52.42 EUR Shipping!!!!!!! 162.07 EUR Total = $268.55 AUD That should give anyone else a reasonable idea of your outlay costs to upgrade.... Bit p'd off about that roughly 1/2 of my outlay is shipping but what do you do - they only offer UPS overnight to us down in here in the wilds of the Southern Hemisphere.....

The supreme irony of life is that hardly anyone gets out of it alive.

Isn't it about 1/3 of your outlay? It certainly sucks - try to think of how much more you're getting for the 109.65 than you're getting for the 52.42! Cliff

Hi CuriousLabs/Katherine I preordered Poser 6 and I am sure I ll be happy when I get it. It is good that OpenGL is implemented for real rendering work. Subdivision scattering!! Cant wait to use it with my creatures!! I am sure that the working scene and renderer is faster and better than Poser 5. The node in material room is brilliant and it is gonna be a big kick with OpenGL for realistic looking materials. I am so excited to get my copy this season!! I have a question will it support with 64 bits CPU or multiple CPUs? Regards Gene

Tastiger Base it on the Price in USD as they are a US company. Katherine; You might want to lean on DigitalRiver and find out why they are charging people's cards for Pre-orders.
