You're talkin game models then. I've never seen a poser character that low. And you'll probably not find anything with a modeled mouth and teeth for that low res a model. Why do you need it so low poly? There might be another solution...

You want a head or an entire figure? Geralday has a low polygon figure called Jane (In Archive 1). She has prop eyes I think and teeth but no mouth material. He has several other low polygon figures but I kind of doubt any of them have a mouth material. PhilC has some low res figures,no idea whether the mouth opens but they may be of some help @ 2254 facets Cheers StefanI think minus her clothes, Jane V2 is less than 5,000 polygons. A beauty she's not but she's only meant to be rendered small or perhaps as a background figure. Since you want the eyes and mouth features I assume you want to do a closeup of the face which is not going to look good.
A possible Idea is to take Posette, get her posed the way you want and then export a .wrl (VMRL) file from Poser. Get a copy of Vizup (a polygon reducer) and reduce her to the level you need. Then you'll need a .wrl to .obj program to get her back into Poser if that's your ultimate destination. No guarantees on how she'll look of course. There's a thread here somewhere--search for Vizup and you should find it.
Maybe you can find a relatively lo res head solution and graft the head onto something like the P4 Lo body. I don't know of other ways to possibly get a decent looking head that small and a body as well.

If you want some inspiration, here's what can be done with a 600-poly head and a 256-pixel-square texture-map (and Maya and Photoshop, admittedly...)Probably no separate eyes and mouth in these figures, though.
I was thinking more in terms of the subdivision (micro-poly displacement or whatever Firefly calls it), but certainly the shaders would contribute a lot as well. If you've got PRMan and the horsepower to drive it, you can probably make Jane look like V3--or in the ballpark anyway :-)

thanks for all the replies guys. I plan on using the model in 3d Max - its just that 3dMax people tend to be less help in ways of things like this - they tend to be like "if you didnt make it yourself, your utter crap" and thus dont share models. The reason why i want such a low-poly figure is because it will be easier to rig it up and then let the program turbosmooth it as it renders. Plus it will be faster on things like Skinwrap - 3dMax's answer to Poser's conforming clothes. The reason why i'm asking for help, is simple because i cant model on my own - i suck at it. I can kitbash like somethin else, though. so clothing based of the models will be a non-issue. Thanks ~a grateful FoaS

Yeah, we all know about some of those folks. Just render and let them remain ignorant of what you used. I have one other figure that's supposed to be low poly. Never used it though so I don't know how low or what it has--wears Posette's clothes according to the readme. Hi, A while back I had the P2 figures remapped and with very simple eye and teeth props (teeth were half a cylynder with texture). I they looked pretty okay. I did up a dozen or so expression morphs with magnets. I tried remapping the Poser 4 Lo people as well and they looked nice though I could not get the mouth open... probly could have with more effort. Don't know what the poly counts were.
3ds max can handle WAY more then just a 7,000 poly character. I still don't understand why one this low res a character is needed for Max at all. Maybe if you were going to use 100 of them in a scene somewhere, but then you wouldn't need mouth interior or possibly even teeth. Lightwave will start choking here when I have over 200,000 polys in modeler, but layout still does fine with that count.

Sorry, Furyofaseraph. Should have checked the link. The item is/was by pmorris aka "Joat Mon." I checked around a little and can't find any other link. At any rate, the .obj seems small enough but doesn't appear to have the features you need. Have you looked at GMax? I've never used it, but it's the free version of Max designed for making game characters. It has a proprietray format but I've read that you can convert it to .obj using some other utilities. I don't know if the program is any easier on resources than Max but I would imagine it is. You might be able to retain your Max skills and still have a lighter setup.

Well darn. Sounds like you'd be better off with something like Anim8or or ArtOfIllusion (which claims some impressive rendering abilities), but that would negate the advantage of having Max. Being unable to upgrade hardware myself, I feel your pain.

lol, thanks. I appreciate your sympathy. So, methinks im better off modelling a humanoid figure on my own - bah, i needed to learn anyways - Ive been looking up tutorials like mad, and all of them say "Make it look human" and none of them say "well, in order to make it look like a human, the shoulder has go to look like this, and here are a few ways to do this." Anyone know of any tutorials that do this?
It's just a matter of looking at reference material, and duplicating it. Buy a mirror, and google human anatomy, and don't worry if your first model comes out like crap.. it may take you 3 or 4 attempts to get a figure you are really happy with. And with each model, you won't duplicate previous mistakes. Like anything else, it just takes time, and practice.

I don't have Max, and I don't know how low-poly the model comes out - but general opinion seems to be that it's the best tutorial of its kind around.
You might contact Geralday. He uses Anim8tor but he might have some general tips on low-poly modeling a figure. Also, I know he does requests. If you're not keen on tackling it yourself, he might do something for you very inexpensively. I saw the same tute Steerpike gave but I could only find the French version. It looks about as simple as you're going to get. Of course, I'd have problems getting the initial cube so youe mileage may vary :-)
