● Scarietta can accept ScareBear Textures with the following adjustments. SkinFace is a new area around the eyes for makeup purposes. Simply apply SkinHead texture settings. ninnies are are feminine addition and can be hidden via an included morph target or made transparent. lashes are new geometry and can be hidden or simply use the included texture settings for that.

● Scarietta can use any Head Morphs that ScareBear can.

● Scarietta can use any Body Morphs that do not affect the chest, even partially. The geometry there is different.

● Scarietta should work well with ScareBear poses. However joints have been tweaked from head to toe so they may be slight differences. There are some different limits settings.

● As stated, joints are slightly different to accomodate a much different shape from ScareBear. Conforming clothing for ScareBear will need to be adjusted. A plug-in developers kit is in the works though you'll still have to reshape any clothing conversions. Unless she recieves Wardrobe Wizard support, We highly recommend MarkDC's Clothes Converter.

Starting at $6.50 (for ScareBear PLUS Owners)

She's cute :) Two questions: As English is not my native language I wonder: What are ninnies? My dictionary wouldn't tell me. Also, can she be made flat-chested? I'd like a more childish look to her.

hauksdottir ( ) posted Wed, 26 October 2005 at 6:38 AM

That's a good question! "... BreastCleavage, NinniesHide, WaistNarrow,..." NinniesHide? Normally, I would have said that a ninnie was an inferior or stupid person: a dimwit or numbskull, or perhaps merely a careless fool. I think it is short for nincompoop (which your dictionary probably doesn't have, either). However, from the context of this usage, I think Netherworks is using ninnies as a euphemism for nipples. Maybe. It might be the entire breast. English is dialectal. Here is California, we have "meep" and "breakfast yinnie" which won't be in the dictionary, either. It makes a poet's life that much easier to have more words to play with. ;) Carolly

MarianneR ( ) posted Wed, 26 October 2005 at 7:06 AM

Thank you, Carolly! Actually, ninny is in my dictionary, with the same translation as yours, but I thought that was out of context here, so I supposed it must have some other meaning as well. Nincompoop is also in the dictionary, but no, meep and breakfast yinnie aren't :)

hauksdottir ( ) posted Wed, 26 October 2005 at 9:00 AM

OK... some dictionaries are nice ones and don't have any terms which might be insulting. "Meep" is a conflated word, probably from from mope and weep, or maybe even "mournfully creep". It is used to describe someone hanging around despite being very unhappy. It could be used for a ghost bound to a spot, but it has the element of choice: somebody chooses deliberately to meep and make everybody else uncomfortable. "Breakfast yinnies" are set out at professional conventions and trade shows. The service is more than continental breakfast, but less than a buffet: you'll find fresh fruit and juices as well as tea and coffee and pastries, but not eggs and potatoes and meat. This means you can nibble while talking business before the meetings start, but don't require a table, flatware, linens... which drives the cost of providing food out of sight for small groups. "However, from the context of this usage, I think Netherworks is using ninnies as a euphemism for nipples." Yep! ... And Rump means Butt :) I must tell you that I pondered long over whether or not to include ninnies geometry or not. It's kinda silly. Even the whole idea of adding breasts was silly. But then I thought... Well this is an anthropomorpic figure as it does take on human qualities. It's a female plushy bear, carrying a knife, wearing a party dress. And it can smile and frown and look sad or glad. So I said, well, that's all pretty damn silly too. So it got breasts (we can say boobies too, if that's cuter) and ninnies. And I thought well, the ninnies might be perverse for some people so I added a ninnieshide morph - plus if you wanted to paint clothes on her, you wouldn't necessarily want the ninnies there. So there you have it. :) And no, before you might ask, ScareBear is not getting a winky ;)

"Also, can she be made flat-chested? I'd like a more childish look to her." I will work on that one and put it up as a freebie at my site. I have to admit I was not able to do one well enough that I could release at this time. It's hard to flatten that area plus minimize any texture distortion in the process. I think ahead when I do these things ;) She has a special loader figure that comes with her that gives her 120 injection slots only when you need those slots. I thought that was a novel approach. I don't like my figures to have tons of blank dials for no reason at the get go. Plus, if you have to save the scene, it's a mess.

Thanks to both of you! To Carolly for the language lesson. Languages are fun :) To Netherworks for the coming freebie. I'll pick up Scarietta in a couple of days :) /Marianne

Words are indeed fun! One of my friends, an astrophysicist, accused me of reading physics books just for the glossary. I play Scrabble. :) I actually like reading math and science now that I'm long out of school... just for the weird concepts. We didn't get superstrings or worm holes back then, much less prions and gluons. Watching as people make up words to fit the new discoveries helps me understand how we developed language all along our history. Whether it is making a flute out of bone or blowing glass or tempering steel, somebody had to come up with a few good words for the process and materials. For some really neat and obscure words, though, you have to go to the fiberarts: weaving and dyeing provide a dictionary's worth. Puns in other languages are rich, too. Trekkiegrrrl was the one who provided the link between caterpillars and tractor treads. Punning is a truly international (and ancient!) activity, and the more words we know, the more fun we can have. Maybe playing with words is the adult version of playing with food? So now, we can determine if this usage of ninnie is already common in the South.. or watch its progression. :wide evil grin: Beware of the bear with no ninnies! Be scared of the scamp in her skinnies!! She'd rather have died Jam-packed in her hide Flaunting her outies not innies. (running quickly away) Carolly

Netherworks ( ) posted Thu, 27 October 2005 at 11:12 AM

LOL! It's all in fun Carolly ;) I could have called them nipples. Then someone would have said - why did you put nipples on a plushy bear? Now I can say - I didn't. They're ninnies, you ninny. I'm serious about my figures - it takes a serious amount of sweat and tears. As I said elsewhere, it's more than just scale, shape, plop, here's a figure. The amount of shaping and new geometry creating and getting the new chest UVs to match in the old pattern and all of that - I could have easily made a new figure period. But I wanted cross-compatibility where it could be done and I think others would want that too. Scarietta took almost 2 weeks of solid work. Some of that was the dress and bows, which are all poseable and the bodyhandles, er um pose pointers, which there are 4 this time. But anyways, I loved doing this figure and I'd do it again. I love the juxtaposition of sinister and cute at the same time and in fact, it's kinda cliche in horror cinema. It's flirted with anyways, in both horror and sci-fi. There was this scene in "Galaxy Quest" where the actors of a Star Trek type series are put in a situation where they have to pretend they are sci-fi heroes and save this race of aliens (in a nutshell, it's a "what if" type story)... Well, they go to get the Barillium (sp) sphere, which is the power core and there's all these cute little aliens. One of the characters is like "awww, they're so cute!" and is about to just walk up. Another character is like "Hold on, have you ever even watched the show?". So anyhoo, my creatures have odd "features", like sexy robots or knife-wielding plushy dolls. It's just imagination running wild. Some folks at Faeriewyld have made s'Care Bears, like the toy line and international bears and creepy bears, and have modeled clouds and rainbows. And that's perfectly fine with me. It may not be what I'm going to make into renders but that's their imagination at work and good on them :) I will collect them all because I cherish anything made for my stuff, which incidently, I feel is your stuff too. I strongly believe that anything released into the public takes on sort of a public ownership, so it's their bears too and they can do what they want. As long as we have no legal issues from that and the purchase license is not circumvented, mind you ;) So if you get Scarietta and want to make a cheerleader outfit for her and give her a baton to wield, that's awesome! A developer's kit is coming soon to help spring you along with bodysuit and dress mesh "templates" - that resource will be royalty free.

Well, if you'd given her a pinafore (pinny) rather than a party dress, my rhyming would have been easier! Ice skates? Wa-wa-waltzing with bears? I too work hard at making this stuff look like it comes off the top of my head (being dyslexic really is a handicap for a wordsmith and Scrabble-player)... but part of art is artlessness, or at least a good representation thereof! People shouldn't see the hours spent tweaking JCMs or tracking a word through a stack of dictionaries, but just accept the product as something wondrously nifty. BTW, I don't like stuffed animals, and have a serious allergy to "cute" in all its synthetic forms. However, friends have given me some stuffed critters: 2 dragons, a hedgehog, an alligator, and a chthulu monster. Maybe they are hinting that a firebreathing exterior can hide a plush core... or maybe just acknowledging that cuteness really is a danger menacing us all? Sugar is toxic, after all. ;) Carolly
