Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 29 10:50 pm)
I'm not sure why your simulation stops part way through.
What clothing have you converted from conforming to dynamic? Maybe the problem lies in that?
Also, if you are using 40 frames, try setting your pose at 20 frames (1/2 the total frames). This gives a better look to the clothing, at least i think so. You can also try 30 frames with the pose at frame 15 and see if that makes any difference.

Thx for the reply Acadia, I'll give that a try by reducing frames, I just read in some tutorials that the more frames gives the cloth more time to settle.
The converted clothing I mainly use is Daz's Morphing Fantasy Dress, as I said previously it works ok with simple standing poses.I have tried converting a couple of other pieces of clothing but they didnt even start calculating the frames, just sat there for 2 hours with the wee egg timer cursor,so I presumed they were ineligible.
sometimes its better to split the simulation. something like this... - 1st simulation to make the cloth fit to mike in zero pose. spawn morph target for the dress. clear simulation. - 2nd simulation to bring mike to the final pose. collision with mike only. MT. new sim. - 3rd simulation: collision with mike and the throne. pull back the throne in frame 01 and push it slowly under mike's six. in this last sim i'd export the sitting mike - without head, fingers and stuff, then import the obj (weld vertices!) and run this simulation with the mike-prop and the throne only. simulations with props usually calculate faster than those with figures - somehow less complicated, i s'pose. i hope this helps... A.
Probable reason it was stopping was that when Mike's seat contacted the throne there was no room left for the fabric. Creates an "unstoppable force vs. immobile object" problem for Poser, and the cloth sim jams. Haven't used the above method for sitting but I've heard it described before. A variation on that suggested by PhilC was to use a random primitive to push the robe towards a seated position, then export that half-sitting robe as a morph. When you run the final seated sim, run the morph on the cloth before you start the cloth simulation run. (For a totally bizarre idea, you could flip Mike upside down and run a cloth sim to conform to his backside. Flip him back around and run a second sim to let the cloth fall down naturally around body and throne.)

On the last page I posted a picture of 2 sitting poses and a standing. I used 60 frames with the pose at frame 30 (as I learned at Poser Fashion)

amacord & nomuse thx for the replies you've given me plenty to try out thx helping.....turning the model upside down could produce some interesting results lol.
Acadia once again thanks, I had in fact missed that thread, I'm at work as I read this (Lunch time....honestly!!!) so I will give it a better read when I get home and have poser open in front of me.
again thx all.

Hi All
Forgive me if this has been covered before, I had a look and couldnt find anything.
I have convereted a few conforming clothes to dynamic through various suggestions found in this forum and when I put them on a character then do a simple pose (usually standing) then the simulation works ok and poser calculates through all the frames. When I do somthing a bit more complicated like mike sitting on a throne then the simulation tends to stop half way through. I have tried turning poser off then on and trying the simulation again but it stops at the same frame again.
I was just wondering if anyone had anythoughts, I am at the office at the moment so cant provide more specific details other than my procedure below.
Pose Mike on frame 30 of 40 frames,
goto frame 1 import dynamic clothing and adust onto figure,
goto cloth room,
create simulation,
settings to 40 frames,
clothify clothing, collide against throne ground and mike, ignore head & feet collisions,
then calculate,
it usually gets to frame 24 for most of these types of poses before it stops.
Thx in advance
Scott
