What works good, well, pretty good for me, is to make my lips a little bigger than the lips on the template. Most of the time you have to do the deform tool, but, just a little bigger, for me gets rid of that. Use deform..pull them down, as close as you can...but, err on the side of larger. I hope this helps...all I can think of. Were the originals the lighter, or the darker? It is hard to tell from the layered pic.
Hon...I've tried that :( It's like no matter WHAT I do, the original lips show thru...it's driving me to distraction :( And the originals were lighter...the darker is the new lip map... I do soooooo want to include lip maps in this package, but unless I can figure out why they aren't working, it looks like I won't be able to :( Lordy, if something wacky and off the wall is gonna happen, it's gonna happen to me LOL
Looks like nothing in the world to me so much as a lip texure superimposed over the lips on the original face. Are you copying/dragging the lip layer to a new image (where it might not be positioned correctly), or are you hiding layers and saving copies (so the lips don't budge)? What seems odd is that the shape of the glossy lips is so different from the lips of the underlying model which undercut in the middle as well as he overlap you mark. If you're sure the template isn't moving, why don't you import the obj file into UV mapper, just to be sure the template is right? Sorry - don't fee like I've been very helpful.
seems odd is that the shape of the glossy lips is so different from the lips of the underlying model which undercut in the middle as well as he overlap you mark I noticed that also...that is why I suggested deforming them to conform more to the template. I don't know. Hopefully, someone else, grander than I will figure this out. I played, the other day with huge red Marilyn Monroe type lips, though...well..they got smaller, but started out huge and red. All worked fine. Perhaps you should ask in the Photoshop forum?
Ok..this is exactly what I am doing: I brought up the original PSD file. I selected the lips layer. Then I just made a copy of the original file. I colorized the lips. Then I merged all layers flat on the copy I made. Then I selected the lips and the surrounding skin. Inverted the selection. Hit the delete button..so now I have the lips and surrounding skin. Everything else is white. Deselect. Save as a lip map. So why the heck you can see the original lips is beyond me :(
the only thing I can think of is...well, 2 things...either when you selected them your tool may have been feathering a bit, or the delete after inversion failed to work. I hope you still have the file before merging. Have you tried merging "selected", or, not merge all...flatten? Oh, oh..oh...how about layer properties? Maybe you failed to put the layer property up to 100 before you merged? I am sucking air, here. I bet it is something in layer properties, though. (Hoping, for ya, anyway.)
Yes..I still have the original file...and no...there was no feathering going on in the selection. Layer was at 100% when I merged...this whole mess has me feeling like just putting my fist thru the monitor :( I can make eye maps with no problem..but every time I try to make a lip map, I have this problem :(
Sounds like frustration. (Kinda the middle aged, gettin' there on the song..."Teen Spirit".) I wish i didn't have to admit this, but, it happens to me more than I want known. My render...of what I have been working on..well...can you say trash can after like 40 of them? I am having a problem with the texture on the guy...nose, specifically. I'm ready to pull my own hair out, as it is. But, that is too difficult. I think I will sleep on it..my hair, my problem, your problem. May you find a stork wandering your lawn in the morning...unless, of course, you live in Alaska. If I can't bring solutions, I hope I bring humor.
Nope, not a texture problem. Its poser trying to smooth across the surfaces. Basically poser smooths everything and ignores smooth groups. Its taking the normals at the edge of the lips and averaging it with skin polygons at the top of the lip. What you're seeing is some shading artifact. I'm assuming that's some kind of puffy lip MT. Since the MT is changine the angle of the lips vs the skin, you'll get some odd shade effects. Its kind of the same reason the nostrils are glowing. One thing you can try is to make sure the hilight and color of the lips match as much as possible to the face skin colors. That should help some.
Destiny .. the light source comes from wone angle .. hence it should have the highlight only on one side and not mirrored .. Better yet have no highlight and allow the poser eyeball to d the job with the lights S and basically for the lip thing I might try making the lip part of the texture a hair smaller .. give it a shot at least S
Looks like a UV map mis registration. Or a pixel blending problem to me. Did you try to set the highlight color, object color in your material options to white?. Here is a trick that may shed some light. Make the lips completly transparent and see if you still get the same effect. That will verify that there is a UV registration problem. And it may not be with the lip texture but with the sjin texture of the model.
Yeah, Destiny, Ghost has expalined for me. Look in anyones eyes or at your own in a mirror. In fact both eyes are reflecting what you are looking at as if they were mirrors. Two mirror's next to each other reflecting the same scene would relect the scene the same... Hope this makes sense and helps...:)
For all the wonderful help you've given me with this problem. Unfortunately, nothing I have done has worked :( It would appear the only way I can offer different lip colors is to offer several different head textures, and we all know what THAT would do to the file size..... so looks like this little lady is going to be stuck with one set of lips..Hopefully someday I will hit the right combination, and it will work :) Again, I thank you...Oh, and I fixed the eyes, too :)
