Subject: Help adding ambient occlusion to materials in daz 3?

I have been at the DAZ forums. I find it really hard to find useful information about a siple way to ad AO. Is there anyone here who can help?

There are a couple of possibilities, depending on your version of DAZStudio.

There is www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/0/pwsurface-2 to add AO on a per surface base.

If you have DS 3 Advanced, you should have the uberEnv and uberSurface in your Content folder, both are able to apply AO, uberEnv as a IBL light, applying AO yo every surface and uberSurface a bit like pwSurface.

It would reeally be easier, if you tell us what version of DS you use.

I will have advanced for 30 days. I thought I might be able to go into the surfaces tab like they do in poser.

No, you will have to invest either into a pwSurface or DS3 Advanced (by experience, when you are hooked, you'll do both ^_-).

I am not sure what you will have during the 30 days, but there should be inside your content the uberSurface shader and the uberEnv light, with both you can add AO.

I think the best is to play around with all the Advanced stuff to see if it suits you and have a look at the MANUAL, here you'll find stuff to keep you going for a while.

Online Now!

If you cook up an AO using shader with Shader Mixer during the 30 days and save it as a shader preset you will be able to use it, and change its settings in the Surfaces palette, after the trial expires (but you won't be able to edit the brick layout to change the way it works then).

Hey Richard, I never thought of that! So why did I buy Advanced?

Just joking.

That sounds like a good idea.

aha. I was wondering how "cook up" LOL.

Just start heating the water, here are the recipes coming! ^ _-

But honestely, if you can afford it and really want to dive deeper into creating good pictures, buy the Advanced version, you will not regret it.
