There are a couple of possibilities, depending on your version of DAZStudio.
There is www.daz3d.com/i/3d-models/0/pwsurface-2 to add AO on a per surface base.
If you have DS 3 Advanced, you should have the uberEnv and uberSurface in your Content folder, both are able to apply AO, uberEnv as a IBL light, applying AO yo every surface and uberSurface a bit like pwSurface.
It would reeally be easier, if you tell us what version of DS you use.
No, you will have to invest either into a pwSurface or DS3 Advanced (by experience, when you are hooked, you'll do both ^_-).
I am not sure what you will have during the 30 days, but there should be inside your content the uberSurface shader and the uberEnv light, with both you can add AO.
I think the best is to play around with all the Advanced stuff to see if it suits you and have a look at the MANUAL, here you'll find stuff to keep you going for a while.

I have been at the DAZ forums. I find it really hard to find useful information about a siple way to ad AO. Is there anyone here who can help?
