Subject: Vendor's that forget to say thank you

After 790 transactions I reached a point that I think many of THE Vendors must not have a good sense of VISION cause 790 transactions "might" command a thanks for spending $$$ on something that I picked YOU, yea YOU, many of whom I have followed and stuffed my stocking with your items...I dont go to Daz, I dont go to Runtime DNA either.I picked it cause I like what I see and what I am able to use with what App's I am prone to use daily and I DONT MAKE MONEY off your items, I use your app addon or clip or brush or style because I liked what I could do with it and thats why I purchsed it , SO what does it take to get a Thank You, does it hurt to take 5mins to say thank you or is it because I didnt give a rave review or 5 stars for whatever..Lastly, I can say that in the period of time it took me to complete those 790 transactions I rec'ed no more than 20 notes to say thanks. Many of you have TOO many miles on ya, time to trade you in on a better model....

I don't think that any vendor doesn't appreciate your business.  They may not convey it directly and personally to each and every customer, but they do give their thanks by contributing free items for the newsletter, survey's, freestuff area, etc...  They also indirectly say thanks by participating in deep discount sales.

I hope that you can appreciate the volume of sales daily and the time it would take to personally thank each customer. 

Renderosity appreciates every customer and member that we have here, and I hope everyone knows that just by the way we give up our free time to help members, assist customers, participate in forums, sitemails emails, browse the gallery.  I'm very happy to have each and every member here, and I hope that you continue to be a large part of Renderosity :)

Uh... I don't expect a personal note on any transaction I make from an online store.
I'd rather the vendors spent the time making new things, than by emailing people to say thanks. :)

As a norm I would without thinking blowup, speak my mind or simply put to ask where is the sense in the answers....

No offense to my reply and I will close this as I might as well be spitting in the wind(and the last part is not exactly what I was thinking)...

First reply: Good, well said and purely business, but this sum's it up for me:

I hope that you can appreciate the volume of sales daily and the time it would take to personally thank each customer....That's what I am heading at...I can only imagine what VOLUME you speak of BUT I am not implying that YOU should "personally" thank all customers, I do on the other hand expect some form of contact from vendor, let's make it simple, if he has enough time to email me at MY personal email site to bug me about what he's got to sell this week then he can take the time to say thank you, kiss me or whatever.

New things? What NEW things, geeze, at one point HERE that there was some really skillful artists that produced some of the sweetest items, many were just at the cusp of their skill and still produced highly worthy app's and other related items...I know, I have always been here and I used to post my work but since one is not of the CLICK then they are the lone teen with pimples never to be selected to be quarterback. As for NEW, oh it's new alright, check my list of purchases, I was a follower of many who created POSER app's, not today, their work is something of the nature of droppings , 2D app's are lacking in skill and outcome of what one might call half baked...I do hope they improve their crayon creations and till then I will not spend my dollar knowing that instead of asking why I bought it, what am I doing with it, I will lean back and know that the vendor is timeward bound on creating as much in as little time to make their store function such as a flea market.

So what exactly is it you want from the vendors you buy from?  Do you also expect WalMart to send you a thank-you note every time you purchase something from them?

I can not understand why you expect a thank you for every purchase you made?

I too have spend a lot of money here * and other stores * and I would not at all expect a thank you.
I do not expect a thank you from the store I buy most of my food either, that is just, excuse me, very silly.

Vendors , if they would thank EVERY customer for every purchase would make one or maybe 3 items and the rest of the time they would spend saying * thank you *

I have not been bugged with mails from Vendors personally, I get Newsletter from Renderosity and other Stores but not from the Vendors themselves, so you must already get a special treatment don't you think?

To be very honest, I feel your expectation of personal thank you notes for every purchase you make  quite Arrogant.

And you know, if you do no tlike the this or that product here in the RMP, you do not need to buy.
Why not move on to another store to buy instead of leaning back and thinking of spiteful posts.

I do not like all products here, I have my fav. Vendors but I am open to new ones too.

My Mother was a very wise Woman, she used to say : if you do not have anything nice to say, better say nothing.
She was very right.
She also used to tell us: it is the tone in which you talk that make you beeing  heard.

Your last Picture in your Gallery was posted 2008 and most of your pctures are photos, so which Vendor you want to say thank you ,  you do not use their stuff by the looks of it.

Well, I don't think midage32065 needs to be attacked for speaking her mind. I think you all are making good points but apparently she/he feels something is lacking in vendor customer service or she/he wouldn't have said anything at all. Perhaps she/he feels under appreciated after spending so much money or maybe a particular vendor has ignored her?

I have wondered myself sometimes why many vendors will blog on and on about pirating but will say little in way of appreciation to all that continually support them.  If they have a way of reaching a mass audience through a web page or blog why not say a mass thanks every once in a while?

The point about Walmart not saying thank you to each customer isn't valid. They say it on every single sales receipt. (I think RMP does that too after each order?)

I don't have a problem with the vendors or the CS here. I think the fact that vendors create stuff that I can use since I don't know how to create it myself is all the thanks I really need.

So I thank all the vendors!!

Well, it is the how something is said that provokes answers, nice or less nice.
I found the second post was belowe the beld toward the Vendors.
Their are different tastes for Poser clothe, shoe, hair characters and she was the one that attacted the Vendors for creating * crap * that does not cater to her taste.

There are thousands with other tastes and every taste is well catered for here.

Like I said, all are making valid points and you make a good one here, too. I didn't realize how inflaming her second comment was BUT it looks to me like she became defensive because nobody acknowledged her and instead made her feel a little bad for saying anything in the first place.

Right or wrong I don't think she would have said anything if something wasn't bothering her. Perhaps she just doesn't communicate very well.

Only she knows but I do recognize defensiveness too. 

There have been times (not recently) that I wished vendors would give me the time of day especially when I comment on their galleries and images and tell them I bought one of their items. Some do thank me then but many won't respond at all. It doesn't bother me anymore, I'm more secure, but it used to.

I'm in love with Renderosity and the Customer Service here. The vendors have it rough in my opinion and I appreciate their efforts so we should thank the vendors rather than the other way around.

I totally agree with you.
A big Site like this with so many Vendors and customers is not easy to run.
I love the Customer support too, whenever I need help one of them is there as fast as possible.

I am grateful for my customers - heck I am grateful for folks who don't buy my stuff but contact me to tell me they like it but can't afford it. Sorry I don't thank people individually but I do appreciate your orders.

I waited and sure enough I was dead on, but thats just me, and I think I communicate quite well but everyone eats steak differently, my question was simple and may have lacked some small touch of sweetness but thats not my nature...I will thank "PC" as being open in her post...Out of over 800 posts on Ebay, I will 8 out of 10 times tell the person it shipped, tell them if any problem, also add that I appreciate the sale and please remember me the nest time, as many buying auctions as they will say thanks with a goodie or a not cause they want me to come back and since they may have exactly what area I seek I will remember them....I have sold many many pieces of Petroleum equipment to people who WANTED it and came back again to bid on more, I have sold thousands of Hotwheel collectables in past 5-7 yrs and have only had possible 3-4 issues that required a NOTE or research into the issue... BUT I have 90% of the time sent a thank you, sent a apprciate note-period..Whether they buy more or not I say thanks...For what you give you get back 2 fold......To-date I am working with Vinyl Art which has required mech/electronic, vinyl medium, special s/ware, special P-tape and I will never know where it ends, my point is I gladly pay for what I get, I ask questions and you know in any communication you will always see the  words: Appreciate your business, Thank you for emailing, Thank you for...I will close this and say guess I believe in a different form of thanks...Not everything is based on how much a vendor can produce unless he/she is focused on on that-more production, less appreciation....I'm done...You cant hear the music box unless someone crank's it up...

You do realize that most, if not all, vendors usually put a "thank you" statement in their readme?  This is the equivalent of having that same statement on a purchase receipt from a store (or Walmart ).

Vendors appreciate all the sales they make, but this is not an online auction where you would expect a seller to contact you regarding shipping, etc.  As a buyer here, I already know I am appreciated by the vendor when I purchase a product from them.  All i really expect is a little product support, IF it is needed.  That is my thank you.

Honestly, and this is not a criticism but my view of the whole thanks issue. I know the feeling of making a purchase and wanting to be appreciated, but as a vendor the best thank you I can give you is a great product at a great price. I know people struggle with money issues, but the quality of the goods here and the relatively low cost makes it hard to be a vendor at all. I also try and give the best support I can to any customer that needs it.

But you are appreciated - a lot - and mere words aren't the best thanks you can get. And here's a big thank you midage32065. Pick any product from my store as a gift.

I sure wish I could have an item as a free gift! I love that toy store!! So if she doesn't claim her free gift can I have it?!

Wonderful store and products you have there, sir. Like I said already, I think every vendor is grateful for our business and I am thankful for the vendors. If it wasn't for the products the vendors make I would have no need for Poser! So THANKS!

I used to send a personal thank you to each and every person that purchased my products.. once a week and it would take most of my Saturday even using a standrad template type letter for each product, however I stopped not so long ago because there are actually people that see these site mails as unneeded and to be quite frank I believe some called them spamish and felt that vendors that did this were fishing for product reviews.

  My goal was neither to spam or get product reviews but to simply say thank you, but since I can not differenciate between those customers that would like a thank you and those that would see it as spam I figured it is best to not send a note as I would rather not be spamming my customers :(

You're right, RM.  In addition to possibly being seen as spamming or review-begging, it tends to make some think you're less successful than you are.

When I was a kid my father and I watched football every Sunday.  Sometimes a player would score a touchdown and freak out, dancing, pointing his finger, taunting, etc...  My father would say to me, "Son, remember what I'm telling you.  When you get to the end zone, act like you've been there before."  Then Barry Sanders came along and demonstrated such class.  In my opinion, he was the best running back ever.  Each time he scored, he simply handed the ball to the ref and walked off the field.  He acted like he'd been there before and would be there again.

Many years and hundreds of Poser purchases later, I received a thank you letter from a merchant.  Part of me was pleased to be thanked.  But, another part of me was like, "I've never been thanked by a merchant before.  Is this merchant not used to getting sales?  Do they think I might be their last sale?"

My point, in addition to RM's point, is that merchant thank you letters are a double-edged sword.

Exactly Mike.  I try and maintain my thought process as that of a customer (which I am more then I care to admit) and a vendor but it is a double edged sword. :(

So screw the customers we don't need them? I understand the "act like you have been there before" stance, but I don't think a thank you note hurts.

Honestly I don't think the customer really cares either way. If you make a great product and they buy it and like it then they are happy. A thank you letter/email kinda doesn't mean anything to me as a customer. Anyway, I think midage32065's frustration was unique.

LOL I am adding to a thread I think should be ended - irony??

LukeA.. please dont get me wrong,, I am NOT saying that the original poster is wrong in his/hers feelings I am just saying that as a vendor I have found that I cant win.. if I do the thank you notes, like I want, I will alienate certain customers who feel it is spam, and if I dont send thank you notes.. I alienate customers.  It is a no win situation for me :(

What I did (until a couple yrs ago when all hell broke loose in my family and took most of my time) was to offer a free product to any of my customers that had purchased several items from me during the course of a year.  

And I have been on the receiving end of an offer like that a few times, from vendors offering their own thank yous to their customers.

But if you have tons of customers it has to be difficult to do anything like that.  And I agree that emailing or site mailing a personal thank you does not sit well with a lot of people.  They dont want to be bothered reading all that, lol.  They just want to make a purchase and be able to get some customer support from a vendor in a timely manner.

Often I find that customers buy repeatingly products from my store, a few group buys (almost) everything I create. But I very much hesitate to write to them personally to say thank you as many customers will take this as a kind of spam or at least feel a kind of pressure to buy more. That's the reason for me to put a Thank You in each readme and for releasing free items here and there and especially during the holidays. Sometimes, when a product reaches a kind of anniversary (500th buyer, 2 years old or such, 600 units sold) I am sending out a link to a little gift to all buyers - and I do not expect a Thank you although, of course, feedback is a nice thing.

My personal opinion is that the customer has a right to buy and use a product without being asked something by the vendor: Neither for a review nor for something like "Nice that you say Thank you, I promise I'll buy again".

I somehow understand your feelings but on the other hand many people don't like that "Thanks for your purchase! Do you need something else?" behaviour you find in many shops in town.

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!

Honestly, as a customer I think a "Thank You" in the read me file is all the thanks I need.  A personal thanks is nice sometimes but not necessary as this place has far too many customers for you the vendors to respond to everyday. Besides, all that time saying thank you could be spent on making another great product!
