Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 01 9:10 pm)
The superconforming can be a pest, I made some a while ago and I swear it turned another inch of my beard grey.
The thing seemed to break and fix itself in a totally random way.
What I did find in the end, with a bit of help, was that superconforming only works if the figure you are conforming to already has the morphs loaded before you add the sc garment to the scene.
Not sure if that is your issue, but I hope it helps.

Poser tends to mangle "superconforming" parameters when you re-save a figure.
Then at least the old morphs will still be superconforming, and you can then try to get your new morph to behave the same way (not all that easy to do by hand, a lot of editing).
I could reinstall the clothing, but my goal is to have the injected FBM and superconforming co-exist in the same clothing items. (I have injected GND4 and Alice fits into clothing because they are custom morphs injected into V4, not dialed morphs. In some cases I have created the GND4 or Alice fits myself and generated a FBM)
Some superconforming products come with additional custom FBMs, so there is a way the vendors do this while preserving their SC functionality.
MorphManager is PC only, I believe, and I use a Mac. Does the Wardrobe Wizard built into P8 offer any help in this regard? It seems to work only with supported V4 figures, Alice and GND4 are not among them and not available in the plug-ins that can be purchased,

Obviously V4 has all the morph dials that are included in the SC garment. They're all set to the desired parameters before the SC is loaded. Not sure what you mean?

What I mean is that all the morphs you need for your sc garment to work properly should be loaded into V4 before you add the sc garment to the scene. The dials don't have to be set, just available.

Dunno what to tell you about Mac tools for this purpose. Maybe you can run PC utilities through an emulator.
The advice from pjz99 is the way to go... if you can find an app to edit the cr2 on a Mac (you could use a text editor, but that could be very tedious indeed). > Quote - I believe I broke the functionality by spawning a custom FBM in the clothing.
No, that would not break the super-conforming. First you need to understand the trick that makes super-conforming work. That trick is simply to leave the figure numbers out of the slaving code. So instead of looking like this
valueOpDeltaAdd
Figure <span style="color:rgb(255,0,0);">1</span>
chest<span style="color:rgb(255,0,0);">:1</span>
Morph
deltaAddDelta 1.000000
the slaving code in a super-conformer will look like this valueOpDeltaAdd Figure chest Morph deltaAddDelta 1.000000
There are two ways the super-conforming can get broken. When you load a super-conformer, Poser inserts the figure number from character that was selected at the time the conformer was loaded. So (strange as it may sound) the super-conforming ability is broken the instant you load the conformer. This does not matter so long as the conformer remains conformed to the character. If you now save the conformer to disk it will contain the figure number in the slaving code, so it will no longer function correctly as a super-conformer the next time you come to load it as a separate item. If the conformer is saved in the absence to a character figure, the result is even worse and slaving will be entirely stripped out of the conformer.
If you save the conformer as single figure, whilst it is still conformed, you can edit the figure number out of the slaving code using a text editor. This could still be a bit of work if there are many blocks of slaving code to edit, but probably not as much work as trying to add the whole morph channels via a text editor. Your editors Search & Replace function can help you here.
AHA! so THAT'S how a super conformer works!
I was wondering because in my latest ite, the Housecoat that is part of my Morning Glory set, when I made the morphs, with Morcloth it asked if it should be Superconforming. And I answered yes - but all I saw was a normal conformer. Now i'm pretty sure I've saved the thing before i gave it time to work.
It doesn't really matter in this case since I never sold it as being super conforming, but i did wonder why it wasn't working,.
Now that I know, it's easy to strip out all the :1 (or whatever number, last time I was up to :18 LOL) and have it work :) Any text editor can do that in seconds.

lesbentley, thank you for that information! Now I will copy a cr2 and see if I can restore superconfirming by doing as you suggest. I think I can run a search for "Figure 1" for example, and change all instances to "Figure." I'll do them one at a time at first, to make sure I'm not changing something inappropriate.
From what you say, the only way to keep something super-confirming is never to save it back to the library, but always to use the original cr2. That's a bummer for folks who like to add their own FBMs or PBMs, or delete / hide excess morphage, etc.
The solution you suggest is so simple, I'm surprised there is not a script or utility called "Make Super-Conforming" or something like that, since it basically involves just tedious removal of the same numbers in the same places in a cr2.
Thanks again for explaining it.

Yes it's not that hard, but there is one point I forgot to mention. If all the morphs in the conformer are to be slaved to morphs in the character, then it's just a matter of two simple Search & Replace operations. However in some conformers the morphs may have two blocks of slaving code, one block to slave the morph directly to the corresponding morph in the character, and another to slave it to a valueParm (FBM) channel in the conformer itself. In that case only the block slaving to the character should have the numbers removed.
Something isn't quite right, in the sense that the breaking is not consistent. I loaded the V4 Bodysuit onto Vicky and it superconformed. I made some changes, deleted some morphs, hid some others, then saved it back to the library. Loaded it back onto Vicky, and it still superconformed.
I looked at the cr2 with a text editor and saw that the numbers that are supposed to remove superconforming are indeed there:
interpStyleLocked 0
valueOpDeltaAdd
Figure 1
BODY:1
FBMAmazon
deltaAddDelta 1.000000
And yet the bodysuit still automatically conforms. Other pieces of clothing behave just the way you describe. They lose their SC the minute they're saved back to the library, whether any changes are made or not.
If this is in Poser 8/Pro 2010, all that stuff is kind of obsolete anyway, it's now finally built into the app.
When you load a super-conformer the figure number from the character that is selected is placed in the slaving code of the conformer. If that figure number is "1" then it may still work, sometimes, as most of the time the figure number in the character you are conforming to will be "1", so the slaving code will pointing to the correct figure. However there are a number of circumstances where the figure number of the character you are conforming to might not be "1", for example when you are conforming to the second figure loaded into the scene. There are also circumstances where the figure number saved in the slaving code of the conformer may not be "1". I chose my words carefully, saying "it will no longer function correctly as a super-conformer", I did not say that it will never function, it may do in many circumstances, it will not function in some other circumstances. It depends on a lot of factors, and I won't claim to know them all. But if you want it to conform to any instance of the character, reliably all the time, then you need to remove the figure number.

What exactly is built into the app?
I do use P8, but I also have problems with superconformity breaking in some clothing that is no longer the original cr2. And in some cases I don't have a problem. I suppose there are different levels of superconformity, some that break easily and others that persist through multiple re-saves of the cr2.
About the only thing I know for certain is that if V4 isn't selected when I load the clothing, it will not superconform.
But I'd like to know what changed in P8 / Pro 2010 in this regard.
Nope, Poser 8. If you're not patched up to SR3 then contact Smith Micro tech support and ask what's going on.
Heh I do have both Poser 8with SR3 AND PP2010.. and never noticed that checkbox.. DUH!
Anyway, even if i'd seen it I had no idea what it did so I would have left it unchecked :) Now I'll try it and see what happens ^_^

If you have morphs that DO have superconforming features built into them (ERC that hooks to another figure) then the built-in feature will apply them twice. I use the scaling feature and make sure it is not included in my conformers, but I don't use the Include Morphs option because I put that stuff in for pre-Poser 8 users.
As suggested above, I went into a CR2 in which the superconforming was broken, and replaced all the 1's after the Figures and body parts with nothing. It is not that tedious with search-replace.
It did not restore the superconforming.
Then I looked in a CR2 in which the SC works fine. All the Figures and body parts have a 1 after them.
Clearly this number thing is not the issue in all items of clothing, though it may be for some. Something else breaks the SC upon being saved back to the library and I sure would like to know what, and how to fix it.
The problem is, if you use an application like P3dO or, as I heared, XL, superconforming in P8 will sometimes work and sometimes not. I checked he different cr2's but I have no idea why it works with some clothes and not with all clothes. If you use the Poser library and don't use the double klick but the move function from library item to the figure it autoconforms and the superconformer works, with the checkbox for morphs you will see that the clothing items morph will grow more then the figure's morph. Very strange.

I have some formerly super-conforming clothing that have become broken. That is, they no longer automatically conform to the dialed morphs when loaded onto the selected figure. I believe I broke the functionality by spawning a custom FBM in the clothing. Removing the custom FBM doesn't solve the issue, the damage is done.
All the dials still work, they just don't automatically follow Vicky's dialed morphs any more. How do I get the clothing to super-conform again?
Also, is there a way to spawn the FBM without breaking SC in the first place? I use D3D's free Spawn FBM script, which has options but none seem to be related to this issue.
