tried the rasta hair on him for some reason it looks good, it's a different idea but does not seem over the top it really looks good on him I think.

Looks good to me.

About the only thing that you can say for sure about Jesus is that he wasn't the white "hippie" western Christianity has created.

Good character but I don't think the dreads would be accurate.  Note, I said "think".

People of Arabic ethnicity tend to have straighter hair than Africans, which doesn't lend itself well to dreads without a lot of faffing around.

Short of anyone producing a photograph from the time we'll never know for sure.  I like the idea of him being portrayed as a well built guy, though.  Prophet of Allah, Son of God or plain Carpenter, chances are he was a strong guy, being used to manual labour and all that.  I can't think there'd be any weedy Carpenters around at that time.

Since he has a beard, it means he was married.

In early Byzantine icons, He has no beard...

I like the hair, but having actually dated a white guy with dredlocks, I have to tell you, I doubt Jesus would have put in the effort required to get straight hair to dred like that! It's a vanity look for anyone with straight hair.

"Since he has a beard, it means he was married."

On what  do you base this assumption??

the Noble son of Mary was a semetic Jewish Male from the area we would call modern day "Palestine"

There is nothing in The Halakik Law of the Torah, that Jews of his region &time followed,
That prescribed that only married men grow their beards.

While it  is likely that He would have followed the prophetic tradition the prophet Abraham(PBUH)
and left his adult face male  the way his lord created it ( bearded)
as did most  religious males of that region,
such a tradition is not related to marital status.

well its not really known for sure if jesus married its been suggested he was married to marry but then theres no proof of it even though hebrew customs suggest he may have been, it's also been suggested that jesus spent much of his missing years in tibet to visit the wise men in the east, jesus then brang many buddihist beliefs back to the hebrew faith, if he had dreads it is more likly his wife would have put them in his hair and maintained them, if he was married of course.

the documentry states jesus did not die on the cross and ressurect however i disagree with this assumption it possible he did ressurect only to to finish his work, and die like any other man, Jesus is said to be the the vessel in which god comes to earth, if god came to earth in his full Godly state,  that would be like putting the whole  universe on earth in the space of a man, since God is is all things, everywhere part of everything, such a thing would end creation as we know it,  so he would have to be born as a man into this world and it's not out of the question that he came to experience suffering and death as a man to better understand us and have a  better perspective of his expectations of us.

Tucan-Tiki ( ) posted Mon, 12 March 2012 at 3:37 PM

its also possible that jesus was the host of god that it was the holy spirit that left him and accended into heaven this might exsplain why jesus changed his name in india and died after he completed his work.jesus the man is not imortal but jesus the host can ressurrect from the cross because he carries the sprit of god,

Tucan-Tiki ( ) posted Mon, 12 March 2012 at 3:56 PM

so you got god the father the eternal being the consciousness of creation itself the supreme being in which all existance  the universe and in which all reality emminates from.

then you got the holy gost that part of the supreme being the maker that embodies itself in christ a small part of god carried by jesus.

then you have the the son the holy host who carries the supreme spirit of god, able to ressurrect from death protected by the sprit of god from death.

then finally after the holy gost returns to god and assends into heaven, you have jesus the man who dies as a man because the holy gost has left him and no longer shields him from death, jesus must die to enter into heaven as any man would, it too is part of the exsperience that he must undergo, all part of gods plan.

so this documentry only gets one part of jesus life correct he did go to india and he did dir there, however it does not destroy christianity it only validates what we know about  the holy trinity.

Tucan-Tiki ( ) posted Mon, 12 March 2012 at 4:05 PM

its also possible jesus was a prophet a host like many others like buddah for  the sprit of god, the jews are still waiting for the massiah who knows, whos right, but ill gamble on christ any day, i .believe theres a much larger picture that all religions are a piece of the puzzel once constructed revealing a much larger picture of the nature of god

Tucan-Tiki ( ) posted Mon, 12 March 2012 at 4:15 PM

do i belive in hell? that depends on what you think hell is, brim stone and lakes of fire and pitch fork pitching devils and deamonds nope, i do not belive god is that uncareing to creaye such a place with a club members only card to go to heaven ot go to an aweful place of  torment. i would like to coin a phrase from star wars, luke was about to enter into the darkfoce cave and he asked yoda whats in there?

yoda said only what you take with you, so if you lead a sinful life and your a terrible selfish person you take these things into death with you where they manafest as a sort of hell of yiour own making, this is what I believe hell is.

Jesus as Rasta man. Oddly Pat Robertson just called for legalizing bud, so Rasta Jesus could be a new internet meme. Apparently there are some scholars who believe that the weed was big back in that old time religion. I  can't find the article I read the other day but here are a couple.

Jesus never existed.  There are no historical records of him at all.  There are some bs bible books written hundreds of years later but that doesn't help the case at all.   Get a clue, Jesus is made up.  The are no Roman records of him at all.  There are known forgeries of people trying to make a paper trail for Jesus but that only proves the case that Jesus never was.  So this whole thread is moot.  But the render of mythical Jesus looks awesome.  Nice job.

singanprayisme ( ) posted Mon, 12 March 2012 at 7:06 PM

Really, Tucan-Tiki, I believe He looks perfect and I wouldn't change Him.  I know lots of Jewish people who have natty hair.  And even people with straight hair can have dreads.  Just a lot of work to get them that way.  And, yes, the clothing is great.  I hope you will post this in your gallery.

Nice image and I think you can represent 'Him' anyway you want.  For my two cents, Romans at the time wore their hair short and DID shave.  Palestine was a province of Rome ... just sayin'.

I do believe the character is a composite of many and various characters, a 'hero of a thousand faces'.  As a form of art or symbol, I find the subject absolutely worthy.  Good work on the image.  Very nice.

i like what you have done with the figure ... the dreads look fine to me...when i was a child i caught a fleeting glimpse, out of the corner of my eye...i turned to look but it was gone, i cannot put my finger on it now...the child is grown the dream is gone... i have become comfortably numb...

whoda thunk...acid rock still alive and well in the 21st century...

I really like what you have done. I think you have captured the essence and caring of biblical Jesus, as seen through your eyes. Who's to argue?

With the (to some alledged) miracles of turing water into wine, healing the sick and raising the dead adding a little curl to his hair (prehaps for a Wedding) would have been a cinch!

:-)

Are you a vendor?  Are you developing a Jesus pack?  I like the image--the robe and all--I would buy a Jesus character if one was on sale.

There are so many different images of Jesus, I suppose the one the is the best is the one that a person can relate to, since no one really knows what he looked like.

I agree, the character could have diverse looks and different ethnicities; robes and sandals could be included and a good Jesus hair piece--or dynamic hair piece.

Tomsde ( ) posted Fri, 30 March 2012 at 8:43 AM

This recent one is excellent and very traditional--but I liked your original one too.  I think that Jesus tends to take on the looks of whatever particular ethnic group is honoring him; people can relate to him more that way.  I think that in terms of devotion it's a helpful tool; it doesn't matter that we don't know exactly what he looked like.
