Subject: PD Gabriel

I apologize if this is not the correct forum. Wasn't sure where to post this question.

I was wondering if anyone who has PD Gabriel, figurd out a way to use the Engraved mat even though Petra says it will not work? I tried emailing Petra/PD but not have heard back. All the other mats work fine. just wondering if anyone has found a way to get it to work.

Thanks

It won't work because of two things:

  1. it uses the material room to overlay the engraved item over the texture. It's in jpg, so you would have to convert it to PNG then use LIE to overlay it.

  2. It looks like it's glowing so I don't believe LIE will do that, only overlay.

Hmmm. Ok. Dang it. Do you use DS or Poser yourself?

Is interesting problem for DS. I used the masks in ambient and displacement and also on a geometry shell. Not quite satisfactory to me, but maybe more work will get better result

You're getting farther that I am. Definitely closer. Once you get it figured out, could you explain how to accomplish this?

Thanks so much!

This is about best I can do for this. First, I did change base figure to M5 Genesis but used Gabriel head morph (just personal taste). After applying texture, I used HSS for extra option, mainly for SubSurface Scatter.

For each material zone I apply the tattoo mask as follows

displacement strength 100%, 0 min max 0.3

Ambient color - no mask - just choose color. for this I use RGB 0 117 175
Ambient strength, use mask and crank value to 300% . you have to change limit in parameter settings

Subsurface color - use mask and set color to same as ambient color. subsurface strength is 50%

You can change bump and specularity to personal pref without influencing tatt too much.

Hello Medzinatar--

OH WOW! This looks awesome. Can you email me at: celticknight01@gmail.com please.

Though I use D|S, I'm lacking the knowledge you have on this and am lost. LoL

I'd like to replicate this but, I'll need step by step directions and how you did what, in what program.

THANK YOU a bunch!

I don't know what lie is but NO. Nor do I know what hss is but NO. Everything is done in D|S

Another person sent me this explantion t othe above and I was able to figure it out.

You have to find the textures in the folder with the other character textures. I put the effect maps should be black with white glow effects image in the ambient channel for each body part, then change the ambient color to the color you want and turn it up to 100%...or higher pending color you are looking for.

The colors for the glow are not always what they seem. I had to go blue in order to get a purple glow.

Also FYI..you will NOT see the actual effect until you render it. This through me for a loop at first as I thought I would see it as i was adjusting each section. You will just have a color over your image with no engravings showing. Once you render, then you'll see what you have and can adjust as you need.
