Hey all.  I am available here to answer questions you may have about the Supersuit product from DAZ.  How it works, how to get it to do what you want it to, tips and tricks etc...

Let me have it.

Unfortuantely, I have to admit that I havent mucked around with the DSON stuff yet.  I will be talking a look at it in a couple of weeks as I begin a more significant shift into the Poserverse.

The supersuit is based wholly on the genesis figure and there is really very little diference between it and Genesis itself... as a mesh.  What makes it problematic is all the material zones.

Ill be looking into it for my own curiosity and Ill let you know.  Hopefully it will be fully supported soon.

First of all, WECOME BACK! Missed you. :)

Second of all, I do have a question, Randall. The Basic Supersuit, not the main one, it's UV's are messed up. Torso and back share part of the same UV's which makes it impossible to do our textures. Is it possible for you to do some kind of fix?

Here's the second UV. As you can see, it's been messed up since Launch and DAZ has done nothing to fix this.

Kharma11 ( ) posted Thu, 07 March 2013 at 11:19 AM

Hi Randall

did you do the videos regarding the supersuit and if so will you be doing anymore, I think they were on vimeo? I watched them all and they were really good, but was told the maker was not with daz anymore.

One great thing about DAZ Studio 4 is that it allows for different UV sets that can be switched out at will.

Its not a terribly difficult thing to create your own UV map in a program like ZBRUSH or Blacksmith3D.

The basic suit was "thrown in" as a bonus freebie because DAZ had it and even as it is it is better than not having it.

It was hoped that some enterprising PA or third party would "fix" it... but that hasnt really happened.

I know this isnt the answer you wanted... but I dont work at DAZ anymore and I have no idea if or when  it would even be considered for fixing. I suppose if enough people asked they might take a go at it.

One thing I could recommend is that if anyone reading this knows of someone with the skill to take it on or has those skills themselves, this is a great opportunity to make some extra money by selling it to DAZ... just an idea.

-EDIT-

Just to clarify... its not hard to make a custom UV for your own custom 3D paint setup... it IS a bit more difficult to create a UV that will allow for creation of seamless texturing in photoshop.

Thanks for this thread, RandallLloyd. I'm just starting in on using the Supersuit. Certainly the most complex Genesis clothing item I've seen. And I mean that in a good way.

Thank you, Randall. I have started converting it to DSON, and so far it seems to be going well. Don't know how I'll handle texturing when I'm done, but we'll see. I'll come back here and share the results of my efforts.

Hey! Glad to see you around again! I never visit the Rendo site (or forums) but somebody linked me to the thread and I had to at least say Hey!

I still love the suit! I have been focused on other things and haven't gotten to play in awhile, but I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my presets I had made... I'm having on awful time with my internet (still dialup) and didn't know if I could try to submit to somewhere to sell or not.  I have some other designs I had done and want to turn into presets eventually too when I have the spare time :)

In all this time, I don't think I've ever attempted to use the Basic suit still o.0 Too much fun stuff to do with the supersuit! LoL

On deselecting polygons by material - if you have the space, open the Tool Settings pane. With the Polygon Seelction tool active that lists all of the polygon groups (actual groups, material zones and so on) with a + next to each to select it and a - to deselect - if you overflow when selecting then the unwanted material zone will have a solid - next to it and you can just click that to deselect the overflow polygons as randy did with the context menu, without needing to know the material name (and looking for solid -s can cue you to overflow selections in the first place).

On saving - in 4.5 save as a scene subset, not a full scene, or the default behaviour (when you double-click) will be to replace the current scene, rather than merge in (it will prompt you to save your current scene, so you won't lose work, and you can right-click rather than double-click to get Merge, but it's still annoying). You could also save the modified suit as a new Figure Asset (File>Save as>Support Asset>Figure Asset) but then you lose the compatibility info forsmart content, which may be annoying if you use that.

Attached Link: Supersuit Tips & Tricks Episode 3: Separating and Saving Out Parts of Full Presets

Here is a new video

In this video I will show you how to load a full body preset and then save out only a part of it as a separate regional preset that can then be applied to any other supersuit shape.
The example in this video is saving out the supersuit trooper helmet as a separate regional preset for later use.

There was a specific question about this on the DAZ forum and some guy posted a long version of how to do it by editing the text file... certainly NOT the best way to go about it. Hopefully this will help

Randy,

Thanks for all the tips. One question I may have missed in the video. When selecting polygons with the Group Editor, how do you keep from the selected polygons becoming deselected when you rotate the camera. Everytime I click back on the suit, the selected polygons de-select.

Thanks

RandallLloyd ( ) posted Wed, 13 March 2013 at 10:24 PM · edited Wed, 13 March 2013 at 10:29 PM

Yeah, this is where Mac and PC are weirdly different.  On Mac, every regular left click is additive and you cant remove polys from your selection.  On PC you must hold down a modifier key to add to the selection... i think its control, but it could be alt.  play around with it and see.  the other key will allow you to remove polys from your selection.  I dont have a PC to test with at the moment so maybe someone can clarify that for me.

when you rotate, use the camera cube and be safe :D

selected polygons will stay selected on the item or figure you have selected, even if you temporarially move to a different one and come back or even switch tools for a bit and come back.  Try to get out of the habit of clicking in the viewport to select your figure when using this tool... use the Scene tab for that.
