I've read these entries for a week now, and I want to ask something that hasn't been answered---I've earned the right after 60 years in the arts, because I've studied, taught, sold and worked with artists all my life: Why did RR do this??? Why???
No one's given a genuine explanation. You wanted a better look---I understand. You wanted to make RR more appealing to its vendors and advertisers? Unquestionable: This is a business, you want to improve earnings. No questions asked.
But all this? So much shifting of essential functions? Look at all the requests here: Aside from the huge issues---like image size, which has actually been improved now; or upload time---many are smaller in nature: Ie, albums, zooming, white on black, etc etc. But all these issues were HERE before, they're essential to an artist's family. A gathering across the globe, in one place. Do you you know how we dreamt of such a thing, before digital? It is a FAMILY here. Why were so many functions removed? Why? Did they interfere with sales? How could they? Why all this deletion?
The very fact that many of your most dedicated members have to ask so many questions makes us feel like school children knocking on the Principal's door, hoping to be heard. Some of you have been wonderful in responding; and I know well how difficult that is. You look out the window and see a flock of angry people, and think, "oh god, I gotta go OUT there again..." And some of you have been terrific. But why was this done??? Was there at least a reason why the site was taken so far? It offended many vendors, so it couldn't have improved business that much. And it offended many artists who USE those vendors, so it hurt business there too.
I appreciated your last redesign: There were complaints, but the site's integrity was maintained. And I've said "thank you" over and over, for your devotion in correcting THIS redesign: I know this week has been maddening for you (believe me: I've been there, pre-digital). But why was the change this massive? Was depleting so many essentials part of a larger view? I hope most of our requests will be heeded. Please keep the cores that make this a family. Artists clamored to find community before the web, now they have it in their very living rooms: Please keep that going. The 'little' concerns, however little, were all WORKING before, they were part of our family. Please keep them going. Please bring them all back.
When I try to upload an image I just get a blank white web page? Is that part of what's getting fixed or it some issue with my account?

I agree. The 'For You' page looks like a porn site. I had to refresh the page a couple of times to make sure I hadn't been hijacked.
But my biggest buzz kill are the missing e bots telling me who of my faves have uploaded images. There are far too many for me to check them all for updates to their galleries.
Hope to see those come back. And, yes, the edit image needs a lot of work. Seems you can't edit and image without re-filling in all the info and credits. > Still, this is actually going a bit smoother than I expected. Kudos for that Rendo. And I love the new file size! (they've already fixed the pixel limit thing) You got to admit, guys, we've been wanting that for years!
We complain cause most of us hate change. We look at Rendo like our family, most of us, and we don't like it when our family is messed with. ;)
I'm sticking by here for the time being, at least. This might turn out to be a good thing, in the end.

Dear JeniferC,
Your holes for avatars are like peering through a peep hole - a square avatar within a hole? Gimme a break. It really look stupid. Back to the good old squares all by themselves. Did you ever see photographs in other print media displayed in circles rather than squares?
As for that annoying white on black text, which I have mentioned before, I recall newspapers would only use that in large banner headlines for shock value, e.g, disasters at sea or on land, the deaths of prominent individuals, such as presidents due to assassination, accidents, strokes, etc. It may be okay for New York Times Square, but that's about it. We artisans don't have to be shocked or stimulated into reading comments, just go back to the relaxing black on white text, especially since white on black makes me see double.
I've just caught up with this thread after being gone all day yesterday, and because of how I spent my time yesterday, I wanted to add something to the sub-thread topic here in this post of Renderosity as Family.
Over the years I've hooked up in person with twenty people from Renderosity. That's 20 people I'd never seen before in my life. Some of them I've been fortunate to meet more than once.
Yesterday I went with my husband, Bill (aka bmac62 here on RR), for an outing. For those of you who don't know us, Bill and I met here on Renderosity. I was living in Washington State and he was living in Kansas. We were friends here for a couple years, started talking, and five years ago we got married. It was the best decision of my life. He's every bit as wonderful as he appears to be here on RR. So there's one vote for RR as family, right?
So Bill and I got together yesterday with Denise (MrsRatbag) and Lucinda (myrrhluz) and Lucinda's son, James, all people we had met before and like immensely. We spent the day wandering around some spectacularly beautiful parks, and we also went to my brother's house for lunch. My brother, Trent, and his husband, David, have met a few Renderosity members in the past, and they seem to enjoy meeting our artist friends. So my RR family and my blood family have blended over the years. There are people who have no connection to RR who follow our galleries, and I have a lot of RR friends who know my "real life" friends and family at least by name.
At this point I can't separate my Renderosity family of choice from my "outside" family of choice. Those of you know I know here on RR have become an integral part of my life.
That's why I've been in the Forum for the past week, keeping track of what's going on, being as reasonable and helpful as possible, trying to stay positive, working toward a smoother operating website. Not by programming, of course, but by reporting bugs and making requests and hanging in.
This place is part of my life, and it's important for me to participate in this process.

I second everything above. I want to second the above so you know there's more than one voice for all these issues. I'll give more detail in a day or so.
But let me add this:
You've changed the Image Size---but you've added 3 clicks to GET to Full Size.
Three.
Please understand, lest you think this is trivial: Many artists don't even like to do "one" click: Do you think 3 will make it easier?
If you want the Full Size to work, please---please---eliminate the middle-man. Go from Display size to Full size in one click.
Know that we can figure-out the "scrolling" thing: Zooming's not supposed to be a 'breeze': It asks that we spend a few minutes on art. To study it. Contemplate it. The Display size was always 72 DPI, the FULL size was whatever resolution we chose. The Full Size is sharper, deeper, w/ better hues. PLEASE remove the extra clicks! Just remove them. It's simple---just remove them. Thank you. Mark
The ebots should be fixed, but PLEASE be specific (image post from favorite artist, gallery comments, forum posts, FreeStuff comments?) on which ones you are missing if you still aren't receiving some. Many ebots were changed to show on your on your "Notifications" page and that is where you can see WHO is following you.
Your Notifications is where you can see who and when someone has commented on your gallery images.
I am still not getting any ebots other than a forum notification every now and then.....image post from favorite artist, gallery comments are the main ones I am missing. and I REALLY miss those! I have a pretty full plate most of the time, so having to click on notifications in the activity feed is kind of a pain,
Thank you and the staff for restoring the gallery image size! I'll be sticking around for now to see how things go...

Apparently we're not going to be getting comment or fav bots. Here's a "link" to something that seems pretty definitive:

(Sorry it's an address and not an actual link ... I've got too much to do to learn their new thing.)

Number of Viewings:
To test the number of Viewings we get for our images, I used my second site ID (ie, second sitename), and went to my image today.
I refreshed the webpage over and over, and each time I did, another "view" showed up.
It's a small point, but it needs to be fixed. The old site registered one view per customer, no more. Can you make it so now? Thanks.
It is really nice we are able to drag imagES into the sitemail, which must mean, that we can drag more than one image per sitemail or what?
WELL, I got a long sitemail with examples for a friend messed totally up, because I tried to add a second little image to the mail. SO I lost it all. Need I say I am not happy? Another BUG?

other question, is there a plan that we can upload gallery headers or little banners underneath our posts?
