Does it have to be Poser 11? I have Poser Pro 2014.
Never mind... I just read the user guide. Damn!!
I checked it and it works in Poser Pro 2014 well.
I tried it as well and only got an invisible G3 in my Poser window with no morphs. I even followed the included directions step-by-step. Any suggestions?

Quite a few people have this issue. The Genesis 3 Poser companion files need to be in the same "Content" folder with Genesis 3 "data" folder. The DSON importer has trouble crossing Runtimes.
DSON? Well while it works, there are issues.
I have noticed that DSON does not do that well installing for two versions of Poser Pro at the same time. Immediately after installing it, I MUST ensure to move the contents of the Poser 2012 folder to one named Uninstall located in the Poser version folder that copy of DSON was installed FOR. Because ALL DSON's use folder name Poser 2012 automatically (user has no choice) for the Uninstaller folder. That done, It has, so far, worked well with my use of external runtimes and use of DSON with more than one version of Poser.
I use ONLY external runtimes, I do NOT allow any content to be installed on the boot/program drive. That means there are serious issues with installers and software that require installation to the USER folders. None of the DATA info is allowed there, nor in any of the program installation folders. If it is content, or assets if you will, it is located on drive D: in one of nearly 40 Runtimes. Working with Richard Haseltine, I found an installation method and "housekeeping" that does work well with DS 4.5+ and Poser Pro 2014+. This is saying that location of CONTENT (for ALL DAZ only stuff), DATA (for use by both DS and Poser), RUNTIME (for use by both DS and Poser) and ReadMe's (where SUPPORT goes, for use by DS and Poser).
The base structure that works for both is: in the root directory of the drive; a base folder such as "! 3D Work V4 CLOTHES B" with the following four folders
Content
data
ReadMe's
Runtime
There is ONE particular thing here when I am saving out a PZ3 scene. WHEN I load in an item that uses PCF's, I must save it out as either a new prop, MAT Pose or CR2 file and then load THAT back in. This has to be done with items in the scene being saved to a file (PZ3) or that PZ3 won't work when I reload it, as Poser will be looking for gobbledegook names for those items [ sample: 0f874ba2-798-1bdc07ea6196-bWFpbi1uLW4tTM1LTEyMDA=.obj for an unknown object ]. Since DSON handles DS content in the Poser Library transparently to the user, how can I know if I am loading in an item using PCF's?

I have all my Poser content on a partitioned drive D (separate from the root drive), but Daz3d 4.9 is installed on the root drive (with all its weird My Library, data, and content hierarchy madness.) To clarify what I wrote earlier, I'm barely familiar with Daz as I only have it to get the Genesis figures into Poser (if I can).
Without reworking my entire Poser file structure (which I know and love), is there a way to get this pesky G3 femme fatale into Poser Pro 2014?
Thanks!
It looks like we need to create a tutorial on DAZ library and asset structure. Basicly, the data folder is like a geometry folder. But, the data folder hold morphs, UV info, and other stuff. A Content folder contains a Runtime folder. I have a Poser 11, Poser Pro 2014, Poser Pro 2012, and Poser 8 Content folders. Daz Studio puts its stuff into the Content folder.
For DSON Importer to work well, both Poser and Daz Studio need to be mapped to the same Content/Runtime. Here is a link to Daz Studio's guide on the subject http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/finding_loading_and_organizing_content/tutorials/mapping_directories/start
Also, the content directory with the original Genesis 3 needs to be a Runtime library in Poser 11. I think an example will help.
I installed all my Genesis 3 stuff into an old "Poser 8 Content" folder. That folder has a "data", "People", and "Runtime" folders. That data folder has the Genesis 3 back end files (geometry, morphs, etc.) When I change Genesis 3 to Triax, I save that file in the People folder in that Poser 8 Content folder When I create the Poser Companion Files, I save them to the Runtime in that Poser 8 Content folder.
Both Poser 11 and DAZ Studio are mapped to that Poser 8 Content folder. Then when the DSON Importer creates Genesis 3 in Poser, everything it needs is in the same Content folder. I do not know were DIM or DAZ Connect would install the files. I manually install all my stuff so I know where it is. And that due to my OCD.
I hope this helps.

Okay, bear with me here, because this is starting to drive me nuts... Since Genesis 3 comes with Daz3d 4.9, and it automatically puts it where it wants (on my root drive) how do I "install" the G3 figure into a new Poser Runtime?
I created a separate Poser runtime folder accept G3F figure and content exclusively. This is where the cr2 is exported to after you create the duf file in DAZStudio. Just keep in mind, your DAZStudio content library must be linked to Poser to allow DSON to search for any necessary files and geometries. The link is crucial, otherwise, G3F figure might not appear in your Poser stage.
So, how are my Poser Runtimes not linked to Daz? if you look at the image I posted a few posts back, I've got all my Poser Runtimes linked to Daz. I had Daz send the configured G3 to my Poser 2014 runtime, but I'm still getting an invisible G3. Is there still something you all are talking about that I'm completely missing here?
It looks like you have gotten lost in all the Content/Runtime folders. First, can you post where in Daz Studio your Genesis 3 is? Because Poser needs to know about Content folder. See the Poser manual about adding Runtime folders. When you create your Poser Companion files, they need to remain in that Content folder.
Second, Genesis 3 expressions will not work in Poser Pro 2014. The tool uses Poser 11 features to get them working.

I've already written one (with pics & checklists) a while back; I'd been working on it for the Genesis in Poser thread over at DAZ. I stopped development on it when DAZ permanently banned me from their forums.
I'm at momma's house for another week, but if there is interest, PM me after July 1.
P.S. Why do you guys insist on using DSON? It isn't the best way to use DS assets.
It will never be recompiled to run as 64-bit, and as such, you will always hit the 2Gb per process limit. (This is why g gets balky when you have more than 1 dressed figure in a scene)
It is so much easier to simply export out the g line as a Poser native figure. Mine only use 80Mb per figure. It isn't that hard once you bring a little organization to the abortion that is the DS file structure.
Did I mention that it doesn't take much to convert PCFs to Poser native Poser files? Again no need for DSON. It only takes about 5 minutes & it certainly speaks to the laziness of DS vendors that don't take the time to do it.

Here's a screen shot of the G3 location in Daz Studio. As for not working in PP 2014, I could swear someone wrote that they got it to work in PP 2014. maybe they just meant the import but not the facial expressions. sigh!
**What am I doing Wrong here? PoserPro11-Build-11.0.5.32723 Daz Studio 4.9.2.70 - Release Candidate DSON_Importer_for_Poser_1.2.0.12_Win64 All files are located in the Default Locations
I have been trough the Genesis 3 Poser Updater a half a dozen time now. A. I open Genesis 3 Female is DS B. I convert Rigging to Convert General Weight to TriAx Weight C. I Save Genesis 3 Female to a Temp Folder as a Scene Subset D. I now open the Saved Scene Subset Genesis 3 Female in DS E. I create Poser Companion Files I do NOT have the Base Path C:DataProduction on my HDD so I use C:UsersPublicDocumentsPoser 11 ContentRuntimeLibrariescharacterDSON Conversions F. Now I Open PoserPro 11 and Genesis 3 Female is located here. C:UsersPublicDocumentsPoser 11 ContentRuntimeLibrariescharacterDSON ConversionsTemp There are 4 files - Genesis 3 Female.cr2, Genesis 3 Female.duf, Genesis 3 Female.py and Genesis 3 Female.png G. I now open Genesis 3 Female.cr2 and DSON Importer runs through it's process and it shows Genesis 3 Female Body. My Problem is Genesis 3 Female Is NOT VISIBLE in the PP11 GUI.
I have run Genesis3PoserSetup.msi "BEFORE" I started any of the DS & Poser Operations
_Does anyone Know WHY I am NOT Seeing Genesis 3 Female in Pose Pro 11 GUI? _Any idea what I must be doing wrong?
I never had any issues using DSON, PP2014, DS4.8 and Genesis 2 Female
Thanks DR**

OK, I used the Same versions of PoerPro 11, DS Studio Pro4.9 and DSON Importer. This Time I used Genesis 2 Female. Everything worked perfectly. Genesis 2 Female shows up in the PP11 GUI and her Morphs etc are there.
NOTE: DSON Importer took much longer to run using Genesis 2 Female, a time I am used to. The DSON Importer for Genesis 3 Female appeared to run very quickly.

Mariner -- That's exactly the same problem I've been having. I go through every step and G3 is invisible once I open her in Poser. As you can see from the previous posts, it's supposed to have something to do with where the files are and the combination of Runtimes and Content folders. Fixes I haven't tried yet because I'm still a little confused about the whole thing.
Okay, I think I finally got this to work... kind of. I linked my Poser to the MyDazLibrary folder in Daz Studio and then saved the new G3 to that MyDazLibrary folder. She now shows up in Poser, but with limited morphs and no facial expressions, even after running her through the G3 Updater. I'm assuming this is the PP 2014 limitation that's causing this, am I correct?
Well, this is what I ended up with - DocumentsDAZ 3DStudioMy LibraryRuntimeLibrariesCharacterDSON ConversionsTemp Both Genesis 3 Male and Genesis 3 Female load and work in PoserPro 11 now :0)

OK, following along with the PDF file. I changed the name of my Genesis 3 Female. I loaded the new name in PP11. I run Genesis3PoserUpdater I open the new named Genesis 3 Female cr2 I click the Update Button. It starts processing and then gives me this error - "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
Clueless as to how to correct that???????????

What I did, while still in Daz, save your "Poser Reference File" version of G3 in the same content area as the original G3. In my case, it was the MyDaz3DLibrary folder. Then in Poser I added that folder to my runtimes in the library. The G3 shows up there under People -->DSON Conversions. (It least it does for me.) Hope this helps.
, my issue at first is that my DS interface doesnt look like yours from the tutorial, dont have the menu upper right to export for poser and cant see how to correct it.
my other questions and please excuse that they are probably dumb....do we just need to do this once or once it works its stored in the poser library and can be used just like V4 etc...also do we go thru this process with just the base G3f or do we need to apply our character we want to use in DS first?
Scottl - you do not export per say. File>Save As>Scene Subset When You open that Scene Subset file in DS and then Right Click on Content Tab>Create Poser Companion Files If you look down where it says "Supplemental Path" it is setup to create the /DSON Conversions Folder.

This is where DS saves the DSON Conversion Files C:UsersUserNameDocumentsDAZ 3DStudioMy LibraryRuntimeLibrariesCharacterDSON ConversionsPeopleGenesis 3 Female - You Will NEED to have Poser11 set to use that runtime. Just make and external runtime link to C:UsersUserNamDocumentsDAZ 3DStudioMy Library

OK, in my working with Genesis 3 Poser Updater, DSON Conversion in DazStudio 4.9 I have discovered several Genesis 3 Hairs for both Genesis 3 Females & Males that Do Not Open and or work in PoserPro 11. I have tried converting several times. Also used Compressed and Not Compressed.
Some of the Genesis 3 Clothes do not always come trough the process perfectly, particularly Shoes. Some of the clothes appear ragged as well in PoserPro 11.
All said and done though, I am quite happy with the overall results.

willdial - OK Using PoserPro11-Build-11.0.5.32742 Daz Studio 4.9.2.70 DSON Importer for Poser - 1.2.0.12
There are several hairs that will NOT Load in Poser. One is Gn3F Casino Hair
They run completely through your process with No Problems
When I go to open in PoserPro 11, DSON "Only" runs for a very few seconds and does not load the hair.
This happens to all of the hair that will NOT load.
Thanks

Once again, Thank You Willdial and lululee for a very nice Webinar yesterday afternoon. I learned a few tips I hadn't tried before.
I "Solved" the issue of certain Gensis3 Hairs DSON Imported "NOT OPENING" in PoserPro 11. Once I dropped back to DSON Importer for Poser 1.1.3.49, The troublesome Genesis3 Hairs Open fine in PoserPro 11.

QUESTION for Willdial or Lululee? Once I have Saved the Original DSON Imported Cr2 with a new name, such as Victoria Upd, Do I Need To Keep the Original Cr2 file that was Imported into Poser? It hasn't had the Genesis3PoserUpdater "Applied to it". So it obviously isn't going to work properly in PoserPro 11
Thanks

Thanks Willdial and thanks also to Lululee, but still I am worried walking into a merry go round where I can't find the way out. I own poser pro 2012 and poser pro 2014. This is for poser 2014. Where Daz started with V3 and V4 it went very quick on to V5, V6, V7. Today I only can use V7 and some stuff I bought. I have problems to get on, because as soon as I make a move there will be a V8 (which was by the way a bomb)
I use a Mac - when I clicked the read about the Mac version it took me back here.. anyone got any information because I really dislike using Daz3D Studio but I would like to sink my teeth into some of the newer characters. I tried the other utility the one starting with DSON or whatever its called (sorry I cant remember) but it doesn't seem to work for me. I work with V4 at the moment because I just can't wrap my head around Daz3D Studio at all

Thanks oh how I would love to get to this part of getting gf3 into poser 11
ok I've just about given up on getting Gf3 into poser I've tried Lululee's way but have a massive Daz3d folder and will take over 10 hours to get it into a folder with poser and considering daz3d only works from the daz3d installation folder I am at a loss as to which way it is supposed to be is it Daz3d folder then add poser or other way round OR JUST A SEPERATE RUNTIME???????? Ok now to the original way and reason for this thread HOW DO YOU FIND THE Genesis3PoserUpdater PROGRAM THERE IS NOTHING ANYWHERE THAT TELLS YOU WHERE IT IS????? I'm sorry for the capital letters but no one seems to ever have a reply to any problems on this forum its like someone asks and then miraculously they have made it work, without anyone replying to the question??
I think the idea is that the converted G3 still lives over at Daz Studio in the MyDazLibrary but Poser looks in there as if it was an auxiliary Runtime..In Poser Pro 2012 my DSON converted things still were in MyDazLibrary but they also had links in the Poser Library, down at the bottom of the list where it actually said, in Poser, My Daz Library. The listing would just show up after I ran the DSON converter, but I forget the steps for installation--I think I was putting things in the Daz Library that already had CF (Companion Files) in the folder with them, so DSON could find them. THe Genesis 3 converter is a freebie in the Free Stuff here on Renderosity as I recall, the search function should turn it up, but otherwise look for Most Popular and it should be in that set.
wonder if this could work for getting g3 into carrara >.<
