Subject: How do I prevent dynamic hair from cutting through skin?

starlingblue ( ) posted Sat, 09 December 2017 at 7:49 PM ยท edited Thu, 06 February 2025 at 11:42 AM

Whenever I use Paulines dynamic hairs and run the smiulation, the hair cuts through the skin With both hairs, and with both bullet dynamics and legacy dynamics What can I do to prevent this?

I don't have Poser in front of me right now ... but you can turn on collision detection ... it works in both forms of dynamics. Keep in mind though to only use bullet physics on more distant animations because the collision barrier is more distant from the skin by its specific structure. Just be sure as I said to turn collisions on ... in a drop down menu that I can't pinpoint from memory. Sorry I don't have the details.

Collision was set on in all cases. The hair always cuts through the skin somewhere, on the forehead, cheeks, nose. Remade the animation several times with both hairstyles. The animation is rather slow, its a soft head up-down movement that takes 180 frames.

dynamic hair bug2.jpg

Here you can see it cutting through forehead and nose.

It always happens, with both methods and all hairs of Pauline.

Is there a character where dyanmic hairs actually work? I have Poser 11 standard, not pro.

Or is it just a bug with this software ? - if so dynamic hair is unusable.

I am surprised no one else has noticed so far.

There are 3 places where you have to turn on collisions. 1 is for the figures you want to collide with the hair. 2 is for the hair groups. 3 is for the whole scene. The hair also needs to have enough vertices and not start inside the figure. It still isn't a guarantee. Legacy works better than bullet but neither work perfectly.
