OK so here's the second attempt.
I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 - Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU . The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

Everything is better with Superfly!
Except for items that use/need micro-poly subdivision displacement!

I've started using 8k maps for hair, not simple resizing though. So far I've just taken 4k maps into photoshop and quadrupled them so the details/hairs are finer. No issues with RAM so far, even my 6-year-old iMac has 32GB RAM.
What's your process for moving 4k to 8k? My other half is a graphic designer and she finds: http://waifu2x.udp.jp useful so I thought I'd try it, but it didn't seem to make any difference for me.
That eyebrow looks good btw... is that standard miki? texture or geometry or both...?
Maybe we should start a 4k versus 8k comparison thread?
8K texture map was generated in Substance Painter from a mixture of 4K base Miki textures and the texture.xyz demo mat that came with SP. I was surprised how much the jump in resolution improved the details, guess much of this is anti aliasing. I'll see if its possible to generate some native 8K textures and do another test.
ghostman - the image with the girl in sunglasses and hat looks 100% photo real to me. very nice image - lovely character and pose. skin looks amazing. lighting is perfect. REally good job!!
I aim to update it about once a month. Oh, and it's free!
Hi ghostship2, sorry for my late reply. That is a really good question and i think that you are right.
The most figures with 8K textures that i found have PNG files for the texture maps but sometimes they use TIFF files for bump or normal maps.
But our problem in "Power world" is that these files are very huge and my graphic card won't like it (Only 6 GB ram -> cuda error).
For my render "back out of hell" i have to cheat a little bit. This model has a lot of polygones so i use for the upper torso the 8k textures and for the lower torso only the 2k textures.
ghosthip2 is right, uncompressed image formats are better for rendering. They don't take more memory because even compressed images are uncompressed for use. The only benefit to compression is file-size on a hard-drive (and size to download if relevant). So use uncompressed where possible, especially for close-ups.
Uhhhh, did you forget to render the shoes you just bought for V4?????

OK . . . Where's my chocolate?
I wish Superfly didn't take so long. This took me at least a half hour to render. I selected Superfly Ultra non-branched, HDRI, no lights. I'm no artist, so, of course, I have no clue what looks good and what doesn't. But, just like a certain unfortunate world leader, lack of knowledge, skill, and judgment won't stop me!

Good stuff! Were the hair shaders taking too long to render?

No just takes me a while to set up using Snarly script. I'm spending all my time improving the morph. I'm never satisfied. Of course I only have to do it once, so I'm being lazy.
