By any chance are you rendering in superfly instead of firefly? Go into render settings and select Firefly and see if you still have the problem, if you don't it means you're rendering in superfly and the materials aren't set up right for superfly.

Two places, try copying joint zones from the Dwarf to the clothing (Figure > Copy Joint Zones from...) and under Parameters/Properties, check the boxes under 'When Conforming'.

TwiztidKidd ( ) posted Sat, 20 May 2023 at 2:44 PM

There's something wrong with his outfit. Perhaps a transparency map has been altered. Delete his outfit and load it back on.

You could render just the outfit by itself to make sure it's okay before you conform it to him.

If it still looks messed up, download and re-install the outfit overwriting the existing files.

There shouldn't be any difference between the two render engines.  The only maps that might cause the problem would be incorrect gammas on grayscale and transparency maps.

It's not transparency maps causing the problem, those are pokethroughs.  Without seeing how the material zones are set up, it is difficult to judge whether there is a problem with the maps and gamma settings.

@mr_red: Judging from the difference in the preview and the render, it appears that you are attempting to render Firefly Material in Superfly.  Please verify this information or elaborate further what is your workflow.  Also, provide a screenshot of your Material Room.

The material settings are all wrong for newer Poser versions, yeah. I managed to untangle in Superfly by using the GoPhysical script, but wow, indeed. Firefly looks awful.

TwiztidKidd ( ) posted Sat, 20 May 2023 at 4:33 PM · edited Sat, 20 May 2023 at 4:41 PM

Do you have an option to make his outfit look weathered and one to make his outfit look new? Does it give you that option in the description, the store you got the outfit from? What's his outfit called?

The chewed up look of his outfit looks like a setting to make him look like he's a zombie or undead.

The alt specular is too high. The shine is washing out the colors. And uncheck the reflect lite multi

First, lets untick the Reflection_Lite_Multi, that's probably what is causing the over metallic look.  Next, expand all the nodes to display the previews and settings.  I see a potential problem but without the expanded nodes, I can't be sure.  Get rid of the Edge_Blend node and plug the image map into the Diffuse Color; drop the Diffuse Value to 0.85, it's too high.  No natural material is 100 percent diffuse.  Disconnect the texture map from the Specular Color, it's value is 0 and not contributing to the rendering calculations.

I forgot how to use Poser but yeah re-download it and re-install everything. Thank you for the figure, nice find!

That will not fit anything unless the file is completely corrupted.  I don't think that is the case.  It's a Poser 7 compatible figure with some serious ancient hacks.  Aside from completely converting it for P11, the Firefly part can be repaired and refurbished.

Version 4, 5, 7 and 10 is all I have installed. Sometimes you could save a lot of time using an older version of Poser to render.

Rhia474 ( ) posted Sat, 20 May 2023 at 6:10 PM

And since the OP stated they use P11, those versions you are using are of no help unfortunately.

Goodness, didn't even realize it has Refl_Lite_Multi there. That's old.

It's a Poser 7 figure, definitely an update candidate.

Did you re-download and re-install the updated version of Dwarvez?

This updated Dwarvez includes Dwarvez_P9SSS material preset for Poser 9 and higher.

Cool, once you finished installing it, apply the selected P9SSS material to your character. Start fresh, especially the clothes + boots :)

Happy Sunday.

Dang, that means the update is only for the character, not the clothes and boots.

You will have to manually create your own P11 leather-like material for each and every one of them: the vest, pants and boots.

Use the 1 texture map and 1 bump map given for each piece of clothing found in the Texture folder. It's something you would have to do in any 3D rendering program.

Do you know how to do that?

TwiztidKidd ( ) posted Sun, 21 May 2023 at 7:54 AM

Unless... someone that has P11 installed wants to do it for you, that would help a lot!

TwiztidKidd ( ) posted Sun, 21 May 2023 at 8:26 AM · edited Sun, 21 May 2023 at 8:30 AM

How good are you at editing stuff? lol You would have to edit four of the .mc6 files shown in my screenshot above, using notepad or a text editor. It's not too difficult.

You'll have to do this for each .mc6 file:

The problem lies in the glossy node. When I use your posted shaders, I get this

When I disconnect the glossy node from the alt specular, I get this

Four .mc6 files to edit:

The pants and the vest are figures

The bracer and the boots are props... I think

I have no clue how to edit files that way @TwiztidKidd. I know roughly how to use templates to make new textures with my are program, but ive never coded them.

mr_red ( ) posted Sun, 21 May 2023 at 10:00 AM

well with the help of you guys and working a few things out i came up with a solution im happy to say (as this has been annoying me)  I will put my solution here for people who might have the same problem at some point.

1. uncheck reflection lite mult

2. lower deffuse value to .85

3 delete all nodes leaving only Image map and image map 2

Image map connects to Diffuse col and spec col.

Image map 2 connects to bump and Displacement.

this needs to be done on every part of each clothing item.

huge Thanks to you guys for the advice.
