Quite a sophisticated approach to lighting, at least by my standards as a dilettante.RAMWorks posted at 11:14 AM Fri, 22 September 2023 - #4475029
Really gorgeous and classy! Love to know your lighting setup for this render. Care to share?Thank you
Not sure if my response deserves the Nudity tag...
I have used three cylinders, strategically placed:
Each cylinder uses a material described by... I don't remember who, but it was here. This setup lets you control:
- the temperature of the light
- power
- and even the distance
No sphere around, background node 100% neutral (Poser's default one)
One of my default scenes uses a similar setup, with the big cylinder and an HDRI on the background node, in order to make some cool portraits.
Thank you for the detailed explanation; I would never have thought of this.
- background node with an HDRi
- area light behind
- the bog cylinder in front
But as you may guess, an area light behind will be visible on the ground, and instead of using a spot, I wanted to try a second cylinder.
Then, I was missing a ray of light on her right thigh, hence the third one.

You're welcome, and it was the least I could do with all what I've learned here (distance-controlled lights, better skin, etc...)Oh, thank you so much!

Some things are easy to explain, other things are not........ <- Store -> <-Freebies->
My first image with Lafemme 2. She's wearing clothes for Lafemme. I only converted the boots. The rest is dynamic and works with the Lafemme shape dial. I used the convert textures script and used a Lafemme texture. Hair was one for Lafemme and used a Lafemme 2 fit morph. The pose is for Lafemme and used the Lafemme pose dial. The shown shape is her original since I don't have any morphs for her yet.

I was curious if La Femme conforming clothing could be converted to LF2. So I ran a simple test on V4 cosplay outfit converted to LF. Results below.
The Tinkerbell dress was originally created for V4 and converted to fit LF. It is a conforming outfit. I loaded LF2 into a P13 scene and used the animation palette to animate the transformation from LF to LF2. Adding the outfit in Frame one, I entered the Fitting Room to create a prop and then entered the Cloth Room to run the transformation animation for 30 Frames. I had to add constraints to the top of the outfit to prevent it from slipping down during simulation. After it was done, the final outfit was taken into the Fitting Room again to create the conforming figure. This may be the first post of LF2 wearing a conforming outfit.
Ken's suit and your Lemura play nicely together! :-)

It's available at posersoftware or if you prefer, it's in the included section of your purchases tab of your library. I know not everyone likes to use that. Just pointing out where it's available.

Thanks! She arrived stealthily: when I opened the page, she wasn't visible until I refreshed the page. Naturally, I didn't think to refresh the page the first few times I looked . . .No, you are right. It is in the Included content section of posersoftware dot com and you can download it from there (at least that's where I got it).

More playing with Lafemme 2. The texture is Maya from Lafemme. The tutu is one of V4. I converted the shoes and arm bands but I just posed the dress because this is one that doesn't drape well so I need the body handles to pose it. I'm not good with rigging yet and don't have anything to use as a doner.

I am continuing to be happy about how older figures and textures render in P13; the ones that were made with attention to detail.
This is MortemVetus' Danne for M4. I actually did not change anything on the texture, except the eye shaders to ghostship's. LevelUpSuperfly lights, background and sphere, an old Neftis hair (that still needs some adjustment at the sides):

Also Tempesta3D's gorgeous ones for males ( Phoenix1966 sadly stopped creating for Poser) are amazing. They work well in P13 with very small modifications if at all.I am continuing to be happy about how older figures and textures render in P13; the ones that were made with attention to detail.

I believe in myself....
So, I'm finished with my "high end" skin shader. Thanks to Cycles and Superfly, nuances are only necessary in the Pantone gradations of the skin maps and in the three color scatter settings. I placed particular emphasis on the slight translucency in order to achieve the most natural look possible. In the picture you can see this on the ear and chin. For this reason, I stopped using SSS Maps altogether. SSS maps interfere too much with the most important instance - the skinmap; They almost completely prevent it from showing through and cause more “damage” than good. LaFemme2 comes with one of the strangest SSS maps I've ever seen and in my opinion it's completely unusable. The settings of the bump and normal maps are a matter of taste. Many rendered faces I saw here remind me more of the surface of the moon. If the bump mapping is too strong, the colors of the skinmaps are severely distorted by microshadows, making it appear darker and dull. Too much shine (also a matter of taste) can then look more like a plastic surface. In the lip area the skin is a little smoother and therefore reflects a little more strongly. In order not to distort the result, I didn't use PostFX. My goal was to achieve a rendering result that no longer required any post-processing. With LaFemme2 I was able to achieve a similar result with just a few settings, even though their skin shader is very minimalistic.
Now it's time to get to the teeth... So far I haven't seen a shader (regardless of which figure) that looked really good. I tried the first approaches with Anna, the red-haired girl. But they are too gray and still lack the surface structure.
Translucency of the thinner parts of the body, velvet-like refraction of light at the body boundaries. I didn't manage to do that with Poser 12. The figure has its own atmosphere with a delicate elegance.
Don't ask me what those bright spots are on her lower lip... LaFemme2 and I haven't been together that long.
Uhhmm...by the way, has anyone noticed LaFemme's severe conjunctivitis?
