Subject: To everyone here about the MILLENIUM POSETTE.......

3DSprite ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 9:03 AM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 11:43 PM

A lot of folks are buying her, and it seems almost everyone is very quick to throw rocks and critisize. She hasn't even had a fair chance??? I have yet to see any "masterpieces" in the Gallery with her as the Star?? Before tearing this model to shreds and making another "Poser Dork" out of her PLEASE look at the whole picture here?? A LOT of work went into it, I am TELLING you that because I know!!! Someone spent a lot more time than your $60.00 can buy working with this model to attempt to bring you all something new and fresh to work with!!! Take her for what she is worth, a LOT more than you will know just in such a short while! If all you folks realized the "background" on creating this model you would all be trying real hard to remove both feet from your mouths!! Give the "Lady" a chance, please?! ~3D ;-)

martialf ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 9:22 AM

I download her today and make a gros plan on eyes .Wow i like these eyes. Now my post production touch up on eyes will be facilitate. All in all i like this model.I am agree with you :we must take time to use her

3DSprite ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 9:29 AM

And before anyone here jumps to any conclusion and thinks that I had anything to do with the creation of this character, YOU WRONG!! But I KNOW the person that did, and for "him" I have the uptmost RESPECT and ADMIRATION for everything he has done for us and continues to do! And the mere fact that he had his hand in the outcome of this model makes her very valuable to me!! If you all could see and understand what I know, you would be quick to judge her differently I am sure. Nuff said from me, I will no longer dwell on this topic. Have a nice day all ;-)

DigitalArtist ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 9:44 AM

The model looks ery nice, better than some I've seen across the net. I believe it IS a masterpiece in itself.

Dr Zik ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 10:04 AM

Hi Folks! I'm willing to take a chance on Millie--I'll probably buy her and her supporting files sometime this week. I do hope however, that if and when the next version of Poser is released, Millie is not part of the package--I'd rather not pay for the same figure twice. But I think it would be a great idea for the new release to have clothes, props, and textures that work with the veteran Poser figures, such as NYW, Eve, and Millie. Peter (Dr Zik)

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 10:05 AM

Allie .. I know Grey over at PFO said the walk designer works fine on her ... He likes that kinda thing too so hope that helps. I do also agree that a set of the standard morphs for her would have been good. "heart shaped face" and all those ..

steveshanks ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 10:08 AM

Here she is with her hair.the hair is straight out he box so to speak she is wearing Tlaubach's WIP head texture and Jschoen's Trans map for the eyelashes, you can trans map the eye brows too just haven't had time to work that out yet LOL http://www.poserworld.com/tmp/mhair.jpg

pam ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 10:47 AM

well, the eye lids and eyebrows alone are worth the $. I did not buy the texture, so I am working on making one, but she is much easier to texure map than p4woman. I love her already, my only complaint is the lack of womanhood, I agree with others that she should have genitals like the rest of us :-)

steveshanks ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 10:55 AM

Pan there is a huge load of vertices in that area so it won't be long till morphs are made and she is a full woman :o)......steve

picnic ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 10:57 AM

Now, are what you saying (Allie or others) is that there is nothing to change the 'shape' of her face?--I'm trying to understand this. I'd love it if someone would post her with varying degrees of looks. I like the range of expression I have seen but I will be very disappointed if I can't change her face shape, her eye shape, her mouth shape, etc. I will assume that Trav will be right on this, but its a shame if there are not morphs included to begin with. Still--since there is only a short time to buy her at this price, I'm sure I will tomorrow. Diane B

SnowSultan ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 10:58 AM

I plan to buy it tomorrow, even though I don't really care for the figure at the moment. I'd rather pay less now and just hold on to it until member-made morphs, textures, and clothing begin to trickle out. And frankly, knowing that Traveler and tlaubach are already working on improving Millie is enough for me. SnowS Hoping his pictures are worth 1001 words.

I like this model for the same reasons I like the NudeYoungWoman model. The body proportions are not perfect and it dosn't seem to be overworked. Overall it's a more real-world looking character. The stock Poser4 fem is too idealistic in its' proportions (for my tastes anyway) and that's the point, what is the "ideal"? (I married mine and she looks like neither). The best thing about this model is the possibilities for morphs. I believe that you can make some very dynamic changes to those vertices for a wide range of characters.

jschoen ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 12:23 PM

YEs I too am slightly dissapointed that zero, nada, ziltch morphs were included to change the face shape. I would have thought that at least the morphs that exisited in the P4 figure would have been included along with the new ones. (Maybe theese are waiting for us as an upgrade like the beard. The beard was released without morphs, and 2 days later had them) Also I thought to even whet our appitites more that at least the crows feet morph would be included ;-) All-in-all I think Victoria/Milli has great potential once the morphs are there. And of course clothes! James

VAIRESH ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 12:36 PM

Hmmmmm, I guess I'll add my 2 cents here... I bought her last night.....she is wonderfull..I can see so many possabilities with this model. The extra vertices will make her the most posable posette ever. Yep, she doesn't have clothes..she will eventually, yep, she has only expression morphs....that will change shortly. Eventually, I think she may become the standard posette just because when things like clothes and morphs start happening the old p4 fem will not hold a candle to her. I have already tweaked her joint parameters to give her an elbow bend that needs no post touchup and I have tweaked her shoulders to give her the ability to put her arms on her sides and the shoulder joint needs no post. She is now my standard posette...get her before the price goes up in early April..she is worth every cent.

jschoen ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 12:42 PM

Kewl Vairesh, Before anyone else asks ... will you share theese NEW JPs with us? James PS: Yes she really does have a vast amount of possibilities!

Traveler ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 1:01 PM

Morph World will be pumping out the Vickie morphs very very soon. I am basicially waiting to hear from Zygote on a few things and then you all had better stand back and hold on to something cause the morphs will be a floodin! 1st morph: Genitals... look at the crotch in one of the line views in poser... the verts are there.... Then who knows... so many possibilities. Trav

jval ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 1:11 PM

How long or how hard someone worked to produce something has absolutely no bearing on whether I like it or not. 5 minutes or 5 years, the result must stand on its own merits. Having said that, I love the Victoria model. Her face, her body seem much more realistic to me and therefore more beautiful. Because she's not real I couldn't care less about genitals but dearly want some facial morphs. Bottom line: for 60 bucks I've got a very attractive woman who will pose endlessly for me without complaint. I just got her last night but here's my first Victoria doodle. http://www.fractalus.com/jack/stuff/victoria.html - Jack

jval ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 1:12 PM

Oh yes, I forgot- I love her cat's eyes!

gregarus ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 1:46 PM

bought Victoria and the texture maps late, late last night and only had a chance to play with her for a little while - but from what I saw I was very impressed. It's nice to finally have a model whose joints have improved alot in flexability - without the awkward breaking at the elbows -definitely a step in the right direction that makes the model worth having.

pam ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 2:05 PM

milli_vi.jpg my first millie vi sketch, still working the texture. love the eyes

picnic ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 2:21 PM

I do too (her eyes)--and I agree with many--that she seems 'less perfect'--even her face--that area around her mouth, lot of things. I thought about it and realized that if the face/head is important then most likely clothes aren't. If clothes are--they will be more from a distance and P4NW will work for that--for now. I have no doubts at all that we will see gazillions of morphs, clothes, etc. for her--and really soon. So--I'm convinced G. Diane B

Paul Hafeli ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 2:47 PM

Victoria is both a wonder and a curse, the mesh count and the new joint makes her much more like the Evo-1, the total lack of Morphs is a bit bothersome but a lot here will fix that soon enough. Speaking for myself I am both pleased and pissed. The base obj file compatability with Max really sucks. The texture maping of the mesh is a bit strange with isolated faces turning up white and the eyes appear to be mapped backwards. I was replaced Victorias morphless face with the P4 female and rebuilt the figure only to find about 8 surface faces on the body section that will not texture. But it is a little early to give up. Like everything this community gets there hands on we all will deal with it and work arounf the minor problems and 6 months from now be taughting the Victoria as the best to date. I think we all had a very high expectation for Victoria and are a little let down, but then again I remember when the P4female was first used and we were all in the same situation. No morphs,Hair, poses, props, etc. The figure has great potential and if this community is kind Victoria will reach and pass the current status of the P4FEmale. Only time will tell. anyway back to disecting the mesh Paul Hafeli

I was going to post a no comment, to my thoughts here, being that I am a nobody. But my major complaint is simply, how it strikes me that the community is going to have to be the ones to give Vickie any kind of "character". One of the people that is mainly going to be responisble for this will be Traveler. I think Zygote should be paying him to make the morphs to give her the "character", since they didn't give the option to change her. Which on this subject gives me the willies thinking about this... does this mean that Zygote is planning on creating a different face for her, using morphs, then releasing her as Zygote's (insert female name here) Millie character and charge another $60 bucks? Just giving my thoughts here Jack

Steve K. ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 3:57 PM

Hello, I'm Steve K., a newcomer to this forum, but a participant in the OneList discussions. I scanned the messages above, and didn't see my the answer to my question: Will the clothes I have, e.g. Zygote's "Costume Shop" for poser, work (well) with this model? I only see that P4NW will work to a degree, I don't know what this is. I have Poser 4, and am trying to decide on this model.

ARADTech ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 3:57 PM

Here here!!! I agree with Jack..and how about all those that are going to create clothing for her. Since they sell her naked ..you would almost think they would be ashamed as they gave her no genitals ,but also no clothing ? Very stange and sad. Chris

Darth_Logice ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 4:15 PM

Zygote are money grubbing bastards, making us buy everything seperate the way they do. I think the former President of TSR Publishing must be in charge over there. I'm sorry, she's hideous out of the box. Not including basic morphs is downright evil, and puts the burden on Traveller, who does not get a dime as far as I can tell. Most of Zygotes props look to me to be inferior to free stuff, yet they sure do charge waaaayyy too much for them, not even to include the texture??? In all of the world of Poser and, perhaps, 3d rendering, no company is more sick and wrong than Zygote. I'll get her because if I want to enjoy renderosity for the next year, I'll need her. I suspect everyone's attention will be devoted to her for ages to come. In time, she'll be great, but I think while we wait for her to catch up with P4, it's going to be really dry around here. -Darth_Logice

fiontar ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 6:00 PM

After considering the pluses and minuses, I won't be buying her. :-( Lack of "basic" morphs for individuating the character is just plain cheap on the part of Zygote. They obviously want to rely on Traveller and others to do for free what they should have done to begin with! Traveller, please do not let Victoria keep you from producing more quality products for sale on BBay, and morphs for the P4 fem. What I like most about your clothing is that you INCLUDE morphs that allow for fitting to non standard characters. With out the breast morhps for your clothing, it wouldn't be very useful to me. The vast number of morphs on your site for the P4 Fem finally allow the level of individuation many of us who create characters need. It will take time for the community to just create morphs for Victoria to duplicate what is available with the default P4 Fem. It will take MUCH more time for addition morphs to come even close to allowing what can be done with all the morphs already out there for the P4 Fem. In the end, it's just going to drain resources away from work on the figure most of us have/ can afford. 3DSprite, this sin't an attack on your friend. If Zygote is to cheap to pay him/her to include standard morphs, that's their fault, not the artist who created her. If this additional work would have made her to expensive, then what does that say about their "strategy" of having Traveller and others do it for free!?!?! Fiontar

Alle: The problem in Max(I have the Habware pluggin) as I see it is that after I import the original Victoria OBJ there are individual surface faces about 8 of them that are mapped in neverland ( stray Verts I think), I have fixed most of them but there are still a few more. The hip area has 2 faces and the left and right calfs have about 3 each, the eyes are another story...seamed to be mapped backwards, easy fix. I would like to hear from the max people in the Max forum on this. Jack: I agree that a great burden has been placed on the poser users (Traveler and others) to make Victoria into something. The Evo-1 was a great figure but did not catch on for whatever reason, Victoria may have the same fate. However, the joint parms in Victoria are what everyone asked for. I am sure as I am writing this that someone besides me has look at the possibilty of re-jointing Possete4 or Evo-1 with Victoria's Params. I have already replaced the head with Possete, I will post the image in a new thread. For me I will work with both for now. I have a lot of time and energy invested in Posette4, like 300 morphs but I had that many on Posette3 and I have not used her in ages. I am enjoying all the input from all the users, both pro and con. Lot of opinions lot of choices to make. To embrace or to cast out. Will be interesting to see. Paul Hafeli

I've purchased the Faerie, NudeYoungWoman, Triceratops, Cow, Chimp, Bear, Buck, Eagle & anime morph from Zygote. I don't believe any of those characters came with additional morph targets. The only Zygote characters that came with extra morphs were those that Metacreations licsensed from Zygote to include with Poser4. Remember, Poser 3 people had no morphs either. Besides, isn't part of the fun making something that nobody else has? None of these characters are any good until someone does a great texture, or hair, or morh anyway. Honestly, I wouldn't give Poser the time of day nor purchase anything from Zygote if it weren't for the combined effort & inspiration that I've gained from all the contributors to these forums.

melanie ( ) posted Sun, 26 March 2000 at 7:11 PM

Whoever it was who commented about the fact that the texture and hair, etc. are all sold separately, I agree. I think that $25 is a lot of money for a texture map. I probably won't buy Victoria because of the cost. I simply can't afford it. I have a lot of other expenses and, as someone else commented, they'll probably come out with an upgrade of her and charge for her all over again. Money is an issue for me right now. As for my opinion on the character itself, regardless of lack of morphs, I do have to admit that she looks more like someone you would pass on the street or see in your office, and not just a "perfect" fashion model face. She's more real-world in that respect. Not a devastating beauty, but more individual and characteristic. If she didn't cost $60 (and later $99 I believe) I probably would buy her, especially since I know Trav is on the task of making morphs. I'll just sigh a lot and envy all the great images you folks will be making with her. (And I would hope that they will come out with a male character to go with her). Melanie

Byte Me Ok ( ) posted Mon, 27 March 2000 at 2:28 PM

I agree that we shouldn't put any pressure on any of the talented artist here to better our Victoria.. I appreciate any and all free morphs, textures and cloths that might come our way but if they don't I totally understand.. I mean some of us have a life other than poser and 3D app.. If Trav didn't make one morph I'd understand and respect that.. What he already has done for our poser people is more than enuff .. I didn't buy her thinking oh goodies now I'll just wait for the good free stuff come trickling down.. I bought her for those pesky hard to pose position I tend to favor in my images.. I also like the close-ups better than any of our other models.. Sorry folks I just don't think a rendered poser person looks good up close unless you got a good paint program to cover the major flaws.. They look awful to me, but Vickie looks great close up especially with her smile lines, brow lines, forehead lines and those eyes!... leave it at this.. If you want her for the posing or close up shots then she's a good buy.. If you want her to instantly replace P4 standard chick then be prepared to wait or learn to do your own morphs, cloths and texturing or shell out that old green energy for this stuff from Zygote.. Let's not lean too heavily on the generous folks here on the forum.. I think a lot of the artist here enjoy making stuff and yes a lot of them deserve to be paid by Zygote and Metacreations too, in my opinion...They've kept poser alive and probably generated more sales for these companies than anyone else..But for pete's sake I hope no one buys her and then complains and complains then begs and begs for stuff .. That gets old ... Be prepared and forewarned you get what you pay for .. Don't expect anything else unless your willing to pay for the extras, if it comes to that.. ~Cindy
