I must say I find this site more and more depressing. It's supposed to be a site for artists to share their experiences and knowledge. To be able to display their work to their peers and hopefully have positive feedback but all it seems to be becoming now is the Market Place and very little else matters. Once was the time when members gave away their freestuff and everyone benifited. Now the Poser gallery, in particular, is full of dull images advertising the latest piece of expensive trash. The Poser forum is rammed with adverts even though there are specific forums and galleries for this. Ladies you would be better off buying a bar of chocolate to ease your frustrations than spending your surplus dollars buying unregulated garbage.

Deja vu all over again. Couldn't we at least have a new topic instead of running this one into the ground over and over again?

Oh, and then there is this thread. Second verse same as the first. I'm sure there's more. Me bored now.

aleks ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 2:36 PM

you either: 1 - think that your rant will change everything, people will take their incredibly good art out of their drawers and finaly upload it, 2 - are into sm and want to get flamed, 3 - are troll, 4 - are way better then all of us. neither of it makes me think nice of you.

Like My Dad always says "If you don't like what's on change the channel" (Dont go away angry, just go away.)

Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

Tisa ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 2:59 PM

dialyn even someone with a limited understanding of the English language should be able to understand that this is a different topic but thanks for the links to the other threads. aleks I'm afraid to say say that you are incorrect in all of your four points. Try again. Very eloquent, nikitacreed. Is that your gif? galactron22, Is the 22 yourIQ?

dialyn ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 3:05 PM

Fortunately I learned a long time ago not to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed enemy. The theme of all the threads is your need for attention. You got your fix for the month. We're terribly awed. Yawn.

galactron22 ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 3:17 PM

Ah the whit of an idiot...OK pay attention, first of all that gif is not under my name, and second,I'm in really bad mood right now, Tisa You appear to be an only child who craves the attention of others, maybe because your parents didn't love you enough. If you want to be one of these starving artists, go right ahead, but don't even try to impose your Nazi/Communist attitude on the fine members of this community, you are a pompous idiot, and should be kicked out on you ASS!....Nuff said.

Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

Tisa ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 3:17 PM

It's rather amusing how you can manage to contradict yourself so thoroughly only two sentences.

Hi Tisa! Don't listen to all those meanies. They're just jealous. They WISH they had a life like you. I'll be your friend! You say that you find this site more and more depressing, right? Doctor Xoco's prescription: Visit this site less and less. You'll feel scads better. Don't look at the forums. They've been corrupted by ads. Don't look at the galleries. All they are is ads for unregulated bantha fodder, anyway. Sheesh. Any moron with Poser can do the Nekkid Temple thang. "Art," yeah righ. Pfffft! Tisa, you should probably ignore Free Stuff, because members aren't sharing anything there, anymore. Buy yourself a bar of chocolate. Go on, you deserve it! Be of good cheer, you can beat The Diminished Beast "Renderosity." It isn't what it once was. We newbie-ish pseudo-artists are ruining it. Yep, you've figured this tired old yard out. I'm staying behind to gyre and gimble in the wabe as the mome raths outgrabe, but I do wish you the best on your journey on beyond that gawdawful ol' Rosity place! Toodles! :-)

Giana ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 3:46 PM

damn, i hate forums... so even being in here is a contradiction... colour me femme, hey? bored at work this arvo and read through the abovementioned posts, and gosh, I was actually quite interested and curious about the whole thing... well, in a rather morbid sense, i spose... my trouble is is that i agree with just about all the points made by everyone sans the cheap digs and general negative insulting commentaries along the way... i see a lot of what "Tisa" has said as having merit... there truly are an awful lot of renders out there created to show off the latest, greatest hot new upcoming thang... does it render said images as art-less? too subjective a question i imagine... i know my own answer to the question and honestly? i think that that is enough and i don't need to try to answer it or speak it to/for the masses nor attempt to bend "their" opines to my own will... shrug... and i can say that a few "promo" type images of mine along the way were certainly lacking a type of spark, though much to my lament, i did not wish them to end up that way, but they did... [phooey]... but that's neither here nor there... the only question that's truly been asked in this thread by Tisa is if this is an art site? i can only assume that that is actually a rhetorical question as the owners of this site have intended for it to be geared towards art, and it is touted as a "art site", and i don't think that that's been kept a secret anywhere, hmm? and if it IS a joke, my gods, 'sity has spent an awful lot of cash on upgrades, equipment, etc. to pull it off... now whether what exists upon these cyberpages is art or not is an entirely different question, ne? don't jump the gun... let the question be asked first... and no, I was NOT asking... ;)

Giana ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 3:50 PM

xoconostle ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 3:57 PM

Giana, thanks in return for the smile your kind words brought. I also feel disappointment sometimes when browsing the Poser gallery, which is why I've been trying to compliment some the works I see as being original or extra-thoughtful, lately. Still, I see these forums and the galleries as great enablers, full of value. I appreciate 'em because they're positive for me in the ways they aren't for the originator of this thread. I don't see the point in bashing this site without encouraging some way to do aspect x or y better.

SnowSultan ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 4:14 PM

Ah, the mistress of armpit hair returns to stir up trouble. I do agree that there are a lot of uninspiring images in the Poser gallery lately, but there are many extremely impressive ones as well. Two days ago when I went through the galleries, I was amazed at how many exceptional works had all been posted on the same day. We all had to start as a beginner at some point, including you. If there are so many people here with no talent, then why not make an effort to teach us what you know? I'll certainly be the first one in line to learn more the secrets of excessively airbrushed photocomposition and postworked body hair. ;) SnowS

Taura Noxx ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 4:16 PM

errr I am going to jump in here. The question if this is an art site. Well it sure used to be, but all the recent changes have been geared more towards running the market place. I am sure that nothing is done without benifiting that part first. It seems to me that the gallery is now just an addon to the marketplace. "Buy our stuff, show us what you do with it" . While there is nothing wrong with that, it does lose that certain artist quality. It depends on Renderosity's mission statement I think. IMHO this is just a huge marketplace/fleamarket now. Everyone has jumped on the merchant bandwagon thinking they can make a buck out of something they might have put in freestuff before. It doesn't work like that. Now I don't expect anyone to agree with me and that's ok. But I have to say I do find myself visiting here less and less each time. Nowadays its just to read a few good posts in the forum, namely geeps (doing a wonderful job there). Now if there were more people like that, that would be something huh. Shame that. It sure has changed a lot over time. I will give Renderosity credit for allowing me to meet some great friends here, and those few gems you can pick up now and then.

krimpr ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 4:19 PM

Exactly Taura. More Geep shots and less Cheap shots. (@#%^^%#. That's twice.)

BAM ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 4:35 PM

Tisa, I see Renderosity as a place to discuss issues relevant to Poser. I come each day to learn something and see what everyone is doing. Usually I am greatly entertained and rewarded. Each weekend when I'm away from my computer I return to find over 100 new messages, many of which I find particularly interesting and relevant to me. I have been here a long time and this site has and will continue to evolve in the direction members (with management approval) want it to go. If you would like a new direction I would suggest that you not observe, complain, wine, (choose one) but begin to make it change. Post art that everyone wants to visit and emulate Provide positive feedback to someone else's art Post a free stuff item that is invaluable to all Send a message of thanks to someone who has posted a free stuff item Answer a relevant question Ask a relevant question Share some of your experiences and knowledge If the above can't work for you there may be some other places that would be better for you like PoserPros, 3DCommune, or Poserforum. I'm not being mean, I'm stating a fact.

Blackhearted ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 4:58 PM

LOL... so THIS is the person trolling my gallery? apparently im not allowed to post images in the poser gallery anymore, since i create just about everything in them. had i read this thread earlier and realised what an irritating little attention-seeking troll tisa was, id not have bothered to dignify her with an answer. nor would i have been as nice as i have been. she seems to have quite a history of attacking the galleries of countless artists. another person who has no grasp of the words 'helpful comments for improvement' whatsoever. if i was a little more paranoid, id think that her nasty demeanor coupled with her gallery full of 'chloes' and 'kirsty's' with unshaven armpit hair, and crotch closeups, signified another bebop incarnation. get back under your bridge, little girl.

volfin ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:01 PM

sparrowheart ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:04 PM

Whether it's an art site or not, Tisa, if you don't like it here, do us all a favour and go away. (Though frankly, from the tone of your various ludicrous posts, I doubt that favours are something that come naturally to you. You are mean-spirited, plain and simple.)

Tisa ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:08 PM

SnowSultan I suggest you read my post first before jumping on the band wagon. My point if you care to read it is that this site is usedmore and more purely as a Market Place. Look at the gallery. Look at this forum. A constant flow of ads.Even rival sites use this forum as showcase for their products. So please don't put words into my mouth. I'm obviously not commenting on the members that are not merchants. Tara I'm glad that there is at least one person here that read my thread.thanks

FyreSpiryt ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:08 PM

Tisa, if you don't like it here, then leave. For all your complaining, I've yet to see you contribute anything positive. Oh, and please, feel free to prove me wrong and point me to a positive contribution you've made. I don't think you can meet the challenge.

Tisa ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:19 PM

Blackhearted It has been at least fourty five years since I was a little girl.I suggest that you, also, read the TOS. However I do have a question for you. In the gallery comments underneath your advertisement you say "everything in it was made by myself from the ground up" however further down mpcollin says "I actually shot all the photo reference material used in this creation. I must have taken upwards of 30 photos" So who's not telling the truth?

Hisminky ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:20 PM

Tisa, NEWSFLASH. Since Renderosity OWNS this site, they can do damn well what they want to with it. Their site, their rules. Deal with it. Mkay? Oh, and get over yourself.

Blackhearted ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:21 PM

yeh, ive been looking through all of her forum posts and comments... ive yet to find any positive contribution from 'her'. as for the merchants, are you so shortsighted as to be blind to the fact that they are the ones driving this community? theyre paying for all of the bandwidth, paying the salaries of the admins who work here, sponsoring all of the contests, etc. if you dont like renderosity, and all you can do is bitch about it and continually assault the members (i just read the thread where you trash elowen's postworking scripts), then just piss off. but refrain from trolling artists galleries or publicly bashing their marketplace products. the last person that did that was banned, several times. im still not quite convinced that youre not him under an alias - you sure fit the profile.

Blackhearted ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:25 PM

matthew provided me with the reference photos, since i dont have $700 to buy a suitable digital camera at this time. until now, ive relied on kiera for my digital source material, but im no longer working with her. matt's a friend, and did it as a favor. however, the actual source material has little to do with the final texture - its just the equivalent of an artist's paintbrush or pen, not the actual work involved creating a texture from it. i cant believe im actually dignifying your rediculously ignorant post with a response.

ivyroses ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:31 PM

Hiya threadmates =) I am an evil merchant. Not only do I sell items for poser but I do so for my own personal spending enjoyment. I make graphics using the items I have purchased &/or obtained from friends that appreciate my feedback. I also use alot of my own textures ect. It would be rather silly of me to create something and not use it. I have provided free items in the past. I also have offered free space on my server for others so they may provide free items as well. Soon I will also have the pleasure of hosting free items to the community from my peers (fellow merchants)for Christmas. Not all the works im my gallery are art. Some of them are purely just renders. (Then again I never claimed to be an artist.) I'd have to wonder what the definition of art, to some, truely is. Some renders are truely creative. Im not certain if I can define a crotch render as art though.

sparrowheart ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:36 PM

Personally, since Tisa posts these inflammatory threads on a regular basis, I think she does it solely to upset this community. It must be some kind of self-gratification for her, but I don't think any of us should feed her addiction in the future. Gabriel, you do not have to justify yourself to anyone, in my opinion. Your work is top-notch and your ART is endlessly inspiring.

MadYuri ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:49 PM

Is it that time of the month again?

Hisminky ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:50 PM

Apparently Tisa, You are too dense to comprehend that you don't get to dictate what goes into the galleries. If the marketplace pays for the bandwidth for the galleries, then the marketplace dictates what goes INTO the galleries. Surely that small bit of math is't beyond you.

Tisa ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:51 PM

so Blackhearted good of you to admit you were not telling the truth. Thanks for your honesty this time. One other point in your IM to me you say "Soft advertising is allowed in the poser gallery" Can you, or anyone else, inform me where this is said. It's strange how so many of you, with the exception of one or two seem to be failing to understand my point. Whether this is stupidity or deliberate I'm not sure but I shall reiterate. The small part of this site that is not completey Market Place dominated is been overtaken by money grabbing merchants who even though they have their own gallery and forum to advertise their overpriced products still insist on using this forum and the galleries for their advertisements.

Mosca ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:53 PM

The only upsetting thing about this thread is that somebody posted a Norman Rockwell painting in the middle of it. I really didn't need to see THAT. And even though the original post is a been-there-done-that (about 300 times) troll, I wouldn't mind seeing more "natural" body hair configurations in MP character packs, to go with the 27 shaved/trimmed textures I already have. And I actually agree that some of the recent additions to the merchant pool would be well advised to cut their teeth in Free Stuff first. And Hiram--I'm pretty sure that's a cow, not a horse.

Tisa ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:56 PM

Hisminky I'm well aware that I do not get to dictate what goes into the galleries The admins do and they state it very clearly "The Showcase Forum and Gallery are intended for ALL commercial related postings within our community."

Mosca ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:56 PM

"as for the merchants, are you so shortsighted as to be blind to the fact that they are the ones driving this community?" No disrespect, Bh, but I'm of the opinion that it's the CUSTOMERS that pay the bills around here.

ivyroses ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:56 PM

"Soft advertising is allowed in the poser gallery" is a direct quote from the merchants forum. Merchants have been given the green light to post their graphics in the gallery as long as they dont look like an all out ads. This came about for 2 reasons. 1) Some of the showcase forum gallery graphics were art /soft advertisment 2) some merchants posted the same graphic in both galleries one with text & one without. So they were basically already doing "soft advertising"

fauve ( ) posted Tue, 19 November 2002 at 5:59 PM
