I use Collada with both Poser 8 and Poser Pro 2012 and it works very well exporting to MODO.
The only downside, which why it might be better to get a plugin, is the shaders. The diffuse map will come in allright but anything else you have to recreate.
You can set the export unit to whatever you use in C4D (meters in my case) and it will come in at the correct size. Except V4 is 1.92m, but that is a DAZ curiosity.....
Also I use the CollectSceneInventory script to export all the image maps into a folder, so I don't have to search for it in the Runtime!

I use Poser for book cover illustrations.
The rendering is done in MODO with Vue for backgrounds.
Still Poser is where the idea is created...
Thread: Poser Pro 2012 Mac old runtimes problem | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Had no problem installing Poser Pro 2012 on my MAC.
Created the new content folder with Poser Pro's 2012 runtime in my application folder, but not inside Poser Pro's 2012 program folder. Then created a new library in Poser Pro that links to my old  Poser 8 Runtime.
I have to say that loading stuff from the linked Runtime is a bit slower.Â
Are you saying you are trying to merge old and new Runtimes during install??

Under preferences add the Poser Texture folder(s) on the "operations" tab. Don't forget to tick the box next to it or it will still not be found.

I agree with you Raj!
I am here to buy stuff and discuss the software, I post my images on Deviant Art.
No use posting here to get real critics. If I don't get responses on Deviant Art, I know what I made is crap. On Rendo no one watches my stuff.Â

Exactly the reason why I keep holding off buying it!
I was eyeing it because of the mention of creating dynamic clothes, but there is hardly any information on what that exactly comprises. Also I am on a Mac and I don't think the OptiTex software works on that platform, but again no clue in the info.
I think I will spent my money on Marvelous Designer instead ......

In Vue's preferences you have to point to a valid Poser installation before you can import Poser files. Vue will ask you to restart the program after succesfull validation.
In Posers preferences you need to switch off "Use binary morph targets". Vue does not like them.
Also Posers standard files in the library are compressed when you install them the first time. Vue does not like them either. If you run into problems you might considder uncompressing them with scripts/utility/uncompressposerfiles in Poser.
Cheers!

@Artbee,
Heh, heh, yeah, tell me about it. I lived there for 40 years. That's one thing I won't miss, "regen in het koude kikkerlandje" (rain in a small and cold frog land ;-).
On the other hand, I do miss the amazing skies, het frietje met, stroopwavels, echte kaas and a bit more culture, and I am not talking about sports here.....
Northern wind today, 21* C, not bad for a Northern hemisphere beginning of March equivelant!

Yep, it was freezing in Melbourne this morning.
Strictly speaking I am not an Aussie, but a Dutchie, still I find it rather cold lately.....

In the sim settings you can try the "object polygon against cloth polygon" calculation.
Sometimes using more frames plus animating the figure can solve it. For instance in this case you could try tilting the character slightly forwards, at halfway the animation, and then returning it to it's end pose at the last frame.
You can attach primitives to hands and feet, and animate the size, so they disappear at the end of the sim.
Primitives are also very handy for sitting poses. If a woman with a skirt sits down, she alway does this thing with her hand, adjusting the skirt just before sitting down. So to make it look right we can mimic that in the sim using a cylinder.
@pardalegarderner. Delaunay tris are irregular tris, not the usual quads in half. There are not a lot of programs that create them. Marvelous Designer is one of them and I am seriously considering to get that for creating my dynamic clothes.

Interesting!
I have been eying that program for a while and I finally got some time to download and test the trial.
I agree with kobaltkween, it's gorgeous and much more realistic than my attempts to create cloth with Silo and Poser. The modelling in Silo is not a problem, but to get a realistic drape in Poser is still not easy....
So my question is: is this draped in Poser or MD2?

If it needs to be good, i.e for a commissioned illustration, I export it back to my modeller and subdivide and smooth polygons until it's right. I am not so worried about polygon count...
I know Sculptris and Marvelous Designer create delaunay tris when modeling, but I don't think they can convert quads to delaunay tris. Any ideas on an affordable program...?

@Grappo
Wow, that is a simple yet impressive result. Who would have thought......
@Afrodite-Ohki
Very nice drape. I also like the apparent thickness of the material. Is that displacement?
