Thread: Searching and Replacing Shaders | Forum: Carrara
Thanks Mark I'll check it out.
I didn't realise (because I was new to Carrara) when I first started making these renders, that you could drag and drop shaders into a shader pallet and then point your objects at those shaders.
Its just another one of the very logical things about Carrara. :)

Thanks for answering Mark.
I was thinking of doing lots in one go, as one of my files is a bit of a mess. It has lots and lots of shaders with different names, but they are all the same colour.
I'd also like to be able to search for a named item and be able to assign a texture to the found ones, without having to group them together.
As an example imagine I have a room with 10 bunk beds and I want to change the colours on the legs to one colour. At the moment the only way I can do this is by grouping all of the legs together, which would take them out of their bunk bed groups.
Perhaps a plugin like this would be useful?

Thread: Considering Carrara | Forum: Carrara
I bought Carrara 5 Pro this year and love it. I tried a few 3D programs in the past including Bryce and couldn't get anywhere them. With Carrara everything is laid out so logically that it makes it easy to learn and use.
I also recommend Mark Bremmers video tutorials at www.vtc.com. I never get anywhere with manuals, but the videos made it so easy to get up to speed.

Object accuracy setting is? Lighting quality setting is? If GI is used, are both light through transparancy seetings on?
I tried all the render presets from lowest to highest and ticked the Light through transparency option each time and ticked the second one when GI was enabled and there was no difference.
Is this the default fog built into Carrara, or a plugin?
This is the default box shaped one. I inserted it, moved it into position and scaled it to fit the area.
Could the problem be in the shader? As a test I set Colour to grey and for Alpha I chose Texture Map and pointed it to my alpha map (I even checked that the black and white values in my alpha map were perfect black and white). The remaining values I set to None. When I rendered again I got the same result.

Thread: Need A Python Script To Move The Camera Around | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I was Daz user previouly and bought Poser 5 yesterday so this is difficult to explain:
Control Box 1:
You could use the standard camera control box with its wheels and readouts so you could have complete control over what the camera does. At the bottom of the interface you would add a submit button along with 2 edit boxes: "start frame" and "end frame" that the camera would watch.
Control Box 2:
You'd need a second interface to keep track of it all, where you can create and name a list of camera positions and at the bottom you would need a "start" button to start the process.
Control Box 3:
This is something that would be really nice to have: If it were possible to save the above settings as part of the scene so you can use a second script to do batch processing on multiple scenes, then you could let the computer create the animations overnight instead of waiting for each one to complete.

Thanks for that. I just downloaded it. Its still a bit too flashy for me. I want something that's kind of bulky and grungy. I think lynnJohnathan's one is the best one for my purposes.
If anyone knows lynnJohnathan can you message me their email? I'd like to buy the Mars Suit privately if it has been retired. Its a shame its not on the web anymore. It is very cool.
