See the attached image; this is the correctly generated 3dsMax Global Illumination rendered without Vue:
I need this Max GI to render with Vue but* *I think that it is not possible!

Thread: Question about flickering and TextureFiltering! | Forum: Vue
Quote - Reading red in the Rendo color scheme is really painful to the eyes.
Object anti aliasing when using xStream is performed by your native (MR) renderer. Vue doesn't perform anti aliasing AT ALL.
So why if I try to decrease the AA in Vue Standalone the warning message (too low render settings compared to Vue) disappear?
I think that exists some link from Vue ObjectAA to native AA...so by decreasing the VueAA (Min:1,Max:2) it match the mentalrayAA (Min:1/4,Max;4).
Otherwise it is no explanation of why the warning message disappear...
-Have you tried to check: "Adjust native renderer settings to match Vue scene" option?
-When checked and when you change low the Vue ObjectAA, it decrease the native AA!
Thread: Problem with Vue 8.5 RenderOptions>UserSettings in 3dsMax2011! | Forum: Vue
Quote - Ok, are you using GI in MR and in Vue? Maybe the difference comes from different settings in the render engines. Shadows coming from the Vue sun are a lot darker in the second render.
No, I am not using GI, not in MR nor in Vue.
Yes, the difference of the shadows (more darker in the second rendering) is because I set a different value of Sunlight Shadows in Vue, at about 90% in the second rendering, instead of 50%, because I seen that in the first image the shadows are too much transparent...
But the problem aren't the shadows, nor anything that can involve shadows.
I haven't change any other settings except the "TextureFiltering"=33%; also if I re-switched to "Automatic", the bushes still continue to be wrong colored.

Quote - Could it be that when you switch to Vue render settings, post render options become active? Open your scene in Standalone and make sure post redner optiosn are disabled for your Vue cameras.
Not, I am checked it, the PostProcessing is not enabled for cameras...
Another thing: I rendering with 3dsMax Camera, not Vue Camera...
The problem is over the Bushes only, not over the entire scene...thus, PostProcesssing is not involved.

Thread: Antialiasing with Vue 8.4 Plants and 3dsMax 2010? | Forum: Vue
OK!
It seems that removing the Bump of Leaves the flickering disappear.
I made some tests and I am satisfied for smoothing.
But I decided to replace the Cone-ShapedConifer with BulkyConifer, because this specie of plant has more leaves, and the leaves are more tick and dense; this appears more appropriate for plants along the river.
Thread: Antialiasing with Vue 8.4 Plants and 3dsMax 2010? | Forum: Vue
I copied/pasted the Trunk and Branches materials from Bulky to ConeShaped Conifer plant.
I increased the TAA boost to +4 for leaves1, leaves2, trunk and branches materials.
I enabled the TAA parameters as "Ultra" settings in the Rendering Options.
But the result is the same! Nothing changes.
I think that the problem is not over trunk and branches materials (procedural barks).
I have seen with 3dsMax RAM Player viewer, the previous/after renderings:
The problem seems to be over the too crisp leaves, not over the barks.
Also with TextureFiltering 100%, the smooth is not enough over ConeShapedConifer leaves and they flickering...
Any suggestion?

Thread: Antialiasing with Vue 8.4 Plants and 3dsMax 2010? | Forum: Vue
I made some test scenes, with the "Cone-Shaped Conifer" plant; one with TextureAA on, and one with Texture AA off.
But the result is the same!
I selected TAA>Texels per Ray>Min:4 - Max:20; Quality Threshold:90%, the same as the "Ultra" settings, but nothing changes !
I also leaved "ON" the "Antialiasing" as default, in the AdvancedMaterialEditor for all the leaves of Cone-ShapedConifer Materials; and increased the "TAA boost" to +4 (maximum).
But this "Cone-ShapedConifer" default plant is too much crisp, as opposite to the others, such "BulkyConifer", that is very smooth with TextureFiltering=100%.
The "Cone-ShapedConifer" with TextureFiltering=100% and the increased TAA is not smoothed at all!
It causes flickering also with all options actived!
I think of replace plants with "BulkyConifer" instead of "Cone-ShapedConifer"...to solve this problem.
But I want try the TAA, prior to delete the plants!
Help!

Thread: Antialiasing with Vue 8.4 Plants and 3dsMax 2010? | Forum: Vue
Quote - I'm not sure you really mean aliasing, but maybe flickering?
If aliasing, you need to up the AA quality in Max, since AA is taken care of by Max and not Vue to ensure the same level of AA on all elements in the final render.
If you mean flickering, which I think it is, because it always happens in animations, you need to use separate render settings, to enable texture anti aliasing and texture filtering in the Vue render settings. Use 33% texture filtering, or use an animation render preset (starting from "Broadcast") Use texture AA only if you also see some flickering in Vue procedural materials (such as barks, terrain materials...) Texture AA will add render time, so use it only if necessary. Texture filtering doesn't add much render time and is mandatory for rendering animations.
OK!
I rendered a test scene of my "Villa 01" Architectural Vue Project.
I seen that the overall plants renders ok, with TextureFiltering to 100% !
Too much? 33% instead? It is a test...
But the flickering still appears over the bark and branches of "Cone-Shaped Conifer" Plants that have poor leaves. These plants are at the end of my video, just a little bit over the river...
What are the good parameters for Texture AA? The default values are good?:
Texels per Ray: Min: 4 Max: 12; Quality Threshold: 40% -
Or should I use the "Ultra" settings?:
Texels per Ray: Min:4 Max: 20 Quality Threshold: 90% -
I used as 3dsMax parameters for mentalray "ImagePrecision-AA" the value of Min:1/64 and Max:4
In this manner the time for rendering is not too much long.
The video is at my website:
http://www.cavallodario.it/Homepage.html > TopMenuBar>"Sezione3D">"3dsMax": it is the first video in the page on "Architectural" section.
Help!
Thanks!

Thread: Rendering problem: the screen appears black! | Forum: Vue
Quote - i have faced the same problem earlier. but it is not the problem of max or vue now ur cameras,
just let me know ur pc config, which version of windows u using 32 or 64 bit?
when i faced this prob, it was because of 32 bit windows, even after having 6 gb ram n core i-7.
but when i switched to 64 bit windows, rendering worked correctly.if u using 32 bit windows, then this problem will surely occur, bcoz ur machine wont use more then 2gb of Ram even if u hav more then that..
do have a look at ur stats, i.e... ur no. of polygons & faces... but i m very sure this prob, occurs due to win 32 bit...
I am using WindowsXP Pro x64Bit.
I have Intel Core2Quad Q9650; 8GB Ram Kingston, GeForce 9400GT.
I have used Polygon Counter by Utility Menu in Max; the number of polygons: 5075263.
But what interest this details in rendering process?

"So maybe you could use the Vue Cam to render this doomed frame, and replace it with the bad one before editing the video?"
But it is not possible!
I have a a carpaint material car, and a big house, that are 3dsMax models, with a lot of Arch&Design materials applied to them and I want render them with mentaray, not with Vue.
The strange behavior, is that: if I change the target position of the Max camera the black and bad keyframes, appears in another point of time, but not disappears totally!
Help!
Thread: Rendering problem: the screen appears black! | Forum: Vue
Quote - Which makes me think that the Max camera gets inside a Vue element in this particular frame....Could you tra, nsfer the camera path from the Max cam to the Vue cam, and render this frame with the Vue cam and see if it renders ok?
Yes, I have made a test with Synchro Plugin for Vue xStream, synchronized the Max Camera01 in Vue, rendered with Vue at frame 413: the result is a good rendering !
I also tried to made another Camera in Max, by moving the camera position and the target position of camera, but the rendering error, in Max, appears in another keyframe as black screen!
I tried to render this second synchronized camera in Vue, but it renders without problems!
The problem is not an object that occlude the camera in Vue, I think...
Thread: Rendering problem: the screen appears black! | Forum: Vue
Today, I tried to cancel all Vue elements from last Max scene.
I tried to Reset 3dsMax.
I made one new scene by selecting Import>Merge all the Max elements without Vue elements.
The rendering at frame 413 is OK !
I Clicked "Open" Vue scene file inside this Max project.
Selected the last Vue scene file:
The rendering at frame 413: completely black !
What is that doesn't function in Vue Scene file?

Thread: Rendering problem: the screen appears black! | Forum: Vue
I tried also to move a little bit the Target of Camera01 (of 3dsMax), at the same frame 413; the rendering now works correctly with the car wheel...
But if I repositioning the Taget to the same previous position, the rendering appears black!

Thread: Rendering problem: the screen appears black! | Forum: Vue
I tried to delete all:
As the result I isolated the problem:
If I tried to delete one wheel of a 3dsMax car model: the rendering works correctly.
Thus the problem is the wheel that interact with the rendering or FinalGather.
But I think this is not a material problem (of the wheel) that compromise the rendering:
Thus I think that the problem can be some parameters or settings, in the 3dsMax Rendering Setup Panel, inherited from Vue, that interfere with 3dsMax rendering and in particular with the wheel.
But I don't know what precisely cause this rendering error!
