I am currently considering an ASUS. It has the same high end specs as the Alienware but at a much lower price. Very easy to upgrade. A $1200 machine comes with 8GB RAM and I could put in an additional 8GB from Crucial for $66. I understand that the earlier ASUS units had problems but the current machines have been quite dependable. Any experience with those?

Someone posted on one of the forums that (the mythical) Poser 10 worked great with 64 bit systems. I have not yet found that I need to upgrade from Poser 7 unless it doesn't work with 64 bit. I can only use up to 3.5GB RAM with my current 32 bit Vista system and it renders painfully slow. Maybe Vista is the problem.

I am kind of stuck with a laptop because I need to travel with it, but I could have a laptop and a desktop I suppose. What have you found to be a great configuration with regard to RAM memory and video cards for improving rendering speed. Is there a need for more than 8GB RAM? I have seen systems with 2 video cards, is there an advantage to this in Poser or just with gaming?

Thanks for your reply. My file search is set to "deep". I don't know what relative refs vs absolute refs means. I also have no experience with a text editor. However when things are working properly the M4 texture is 10 levels deep when I look up the texture file in the material room. Other textures are only 6 to 8 levels deep. Could it be that the DAZ file system has too many levels and it's harder to find the textures?  As I mentioned before, it doesn't happen all the time, just randomly.

Thanks. When I looked at the ambient channel it looked black but when I went with a "darker black" it took out the excessive red. However, I had to do this for each of the separate body parts, I could not figure out how to apply this to the entire body at once. How do I do that? Using P7 firefly render engine.

To IsaoShi: The method you have suggested was what I was trying to use; however windows did not give me any option for opening with poser.

To Fylbrigge: I finally installed P7 SR3 over the top of the one I had copied to the external drive, then it was able to "see" P7 as an option for opening the pz3 files. I also installed P7 to the main computer drive. I had hoped that I could have all my poser stuff on my wallet sized, USB powered 500GB external and easily move it from one computer to another without installing P7 on each computer but that may not be possible.Thanks for your help!

It would be interesting to do a search on your computer and see where the DAZ Installer put the INJDelta file on your computer. If Poser can't find it then it must have been placed in some oddball location.

The Elite and GND4 thing. Did DAZ copy GND4? I'd say DAZ wouldn't still be in business if they weren't getting some inspiration from what the customers are buying including Blackhearteds GND4. Is it a copy? Obviously it is not an exact copy, but it does look like her sister, however Elite seems to have hogged the boob genes and left GND4 with something more realistic. The fact that we are even having this discussion is a great complement to the vision and artistry of Blackhearted whose GND4 inspired this discussion. However, who is the mother of these two sisters? Obviously V4.......... and who created her?

I have no problem with DAZ trying to keep staff employed fulltime with health insurance etc. They are constantly needing to make new things to support their artists who do this for a living, not just a hobby. Not only is DAZ feeding its own employees but all the artists who are making V4 morphs, textures and clothes for V3, V4, M3 etc. owe a big thanks to DAZ for making it possible for them to earn some extra money with products that are based on DAZ creations. As for me, I love GND4 and especially the rendering tutorial that comes with it. I just bought the Elite morphs today and I think I'll sign off now and do a scene with GND4 and Utopia giving each other a big sisterly hug.

By the way, the Elite Eutopia morph is not taking any money away from Blackhearted, if anything he should have some increased sales due to the attention being paid to this issue.
 

I finally got it to work. All of the morphs work at the same time. In my case I had to install both V4 and the Elite morphs to the main runtime as well as the V4 runtime. It doesn't allow you to install to an additional runtime so I had to select the "install to DAZ studio" and then direct it to install in my Poser V4 runtime. Then I shut down Poser,restarted, loaded V4, installed morphs++, loaded muscle morphs and then Elite morphs. If everything is installed correctly you will see both the muscle morphs and Elite morphs in the parameter dials under morphs. It is working fine now. You should see The Elite dials as I have on the attached screen shot. Good luck! (Click on the screen shot to show full size.)

I have the same problem. In addition I am running Poser on an external hard drive with a separate runtime for V4. Now I can't get elite morphs to work, but I remember having a big problem when I first got V4 which is working OK now. If you get elite to work let me know how you did it.
