I wish I had known this, as I had just been searching through emails trying to figure out how I had missed October and November's newsletter freebies... :(Torquinox posted at 1:50 PM Thu, 7 November 2024 - #4491088
As it stands right now, no. There will be no freebie in the daily newsletter. I am working hard to implement a new system for newsletter freebies for 2025 but it takes some planning as the products need to be for Poser and DS platforms. Please be patient as I work to create a robust system of free items for our newsletter recipients :)Ok. So it's November. Is there a Newsletter Freebie? If so, it's not shown up in the mail. Maybe it's not a thing any more?
Thank You!

The Morph Tool was introduced in Poser 8. There is a timeline of Poser versions and features here...

I'm already annoyed that Bondware killed Poser Pro Game Dev, giving me a free upgrade to Poser 11; but I had already previously purchased Poser 11! I liked PP Game Dev better, so I now have two licenses to a program I don't use, and since the program I liked no longer works, I now mostly hold my nose and use DAZ Studio...

What gets a bit problematic is what DAZ calls "geo-grafting". This is more commonly used in some of the newer DAZ stuff, and should be made possible in Poser somehow as well (but the Poser programmers will have to either implement that directly, or extend the Python interface to allow deeper access to the internals).
And yes, such a converter is 100% legal. Because the converter runs on the user's machine and makes his legally purchased figures compatible to another software (DAZ even advertises that they see converting as a cool feature).
I recall Cage saying geografting was possible in Poser, but I don't recall it it was here or in a now dead forum. It is basically a geometry switch, albeit with a separate figure. It does work on Genesis 1 and 2 figures brought into Poser via the Late Lamented DSON Importer.
As far as conversion goes, it could be a matter of converting one text file format to another. I think the trick would be incorporating all of the morphs referred to in the base .duf file...

Try /Runtime/libraries/!DAZ/DzCreateExPFiles-V4.commandthanks..glad to know she works. I'm on a Mac, so the "DzCreateExPFiles-V4.bat" is unfamiliar to me.
Good Luck, Rod

Sadly, I regret upgrading to Poser 11, and not just because I later got a free license when Bondware killed Poser Pro Game Dev. It just wasn't worth the additional coin to me. I wasn't able to get satisfactory results in a reasonable time with Superfly.
I don't think I've used Poser in a year. Since my go-to figure in Poser was was Genesis 2, and IRay is a GPU renderer, I hold my nose and use DAZ Studio. I should give Blender with the bridge plug-in a try...

It turns out it IS available on the Internet Archive Wayback Machine; it goes to an error page when one clicks on the arrow, but it also quietly downloads the file....Hmmmm... Does anyone else have it?
EDIT, Primorge beat me to it...

I would say to use Bagginsbill's GenIBL to create an IBL map for your scene, and render in Firefly using IBL rather than IDL. However, BB's downloads seem to have vanished into the aether...

Interesting; I presume that all of your content is installed outside of the C:/Program Files/ hierarchy?
I believe the free version of P3DO Explorer will do RSR to PNG conversions...

Many will have a bigger headache than that come late 2025, as most computers older than about 6 years old can't run Windows 11...
