Thank you, hborre. That sounds right. I probably am.
I don't know exactly, but I'll check my settings and the manual and get back to you. I have made minor morph changes to the hair and chest. I've changed the textures & color on the bikini top, and I've modified Godin's skin color to give her a tan. I'll look into this after I get back from work tomorrow.
A corruption somewhere was what I was thinking, but I'm not advanced enough to know how to identify it in the scene file code.
Thread: Character Built+Saved to library crashes Poser when loading into new scene | Forum: New Poser Users Help
8G of ram, which I'm expanding later this week to 16. My workstation has an 2008 Intel Skull Trail Motherboard, so I can only take it that far. But it's running two quad core Xeon processors.
Is RAM the issue, do you think?
The V4 character is hardly that loaded (see attached JPEG).
I've waited well over five minutes and it fails to load. No problem with other similar characters.
Not clicking more than once.

The program just freezes when I try to load her. Screens go white, come back, I try to click on the character, screens go white again, come back again, etc, cycle repeats on & on.
Thread: Face expressions not "taking" after renaming Character & save to library | Forum: New Poser Users Help
I believe that the problem stemmed from starting to build the Character in PP2010 and finishing it in PP2012. I just went back a few steps and found where premade facial expressions would be accepted again and restarted from there.
Everything was working fine until today when a new problem raised its ugly head. Will describe in a new thread. And this one has me ready to scream & pull my hair out.
Thread: Which Modelling Tool for Making DAZ Studio Content? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
OMG! Didn't realize that the Foundry had absorbed Luxology and jacked up the cost of Modo.
Think I'll finally install that free version of Hexagon 2 that I got with Carrara a couple years back, instead. LOL!

Thanks, Andy.
This was with a figure I was building a few months back and just came back to this evening.
Give me a few days to examine all of that and I'll get back to you.
LOL! Yes, I'll use notepad++--not Word! ;-)

I would just like to mention that I personally consider Carrara to be one of the best programs for people who are learning CG for the first time--especially when looking at the first few Chapters of Mike de la Flor's CARRARA 5 PRO HANDBOOK (which is still quite relevant). That and Phil Wilkes DVD Tutorials from Infinite Skills have been very helpful for me.
LOL! I'm still learning 32bit version 8 right now, and the fact that there haven't been many new editions actually gives my feeble brain time to get caught-up in.
Yes, I know that Blender is the right price and powerful. But when I look at that interface and ask myself "How many days do I have left in the rest of my life?"--well, I say "No thank you." Some will shudder at this, but I say "Where is Kai Krause when you need him?"
The next modeler I will examine will be Modo.

Digital Fusion is an excellent program -- a node-based compositor (like Nuke) as opposed to a layer-based compositor (like AfterEffects).
Thread: Hmm. Activations now? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A "pay to own" subscription would be okay with me, too--where, at some point, if you could no longer afford to pay them, you at least wouldn't lose the program. Adobe should do that, as well, with CC.
But they really need to fix a lot of bugs first, IMO.
Thread: Hmm. Activations now? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I believe that SM is intending to eventually move us all to a subscription payment basis. So, this is just the beginning.
And this is a shame, really, because I vastly prefer Poser over DAZ and would love to see compatibility across the spectrum.
Alas, since both companies are playing hard-ass and refuse to cooperate with each other, it is us who lose.
Nice to see outfits live HiveWire surface to bridge the gaps, at least.

So many issues I see posted regarding Poser 11. This is why I never buy a new version of anything until it's been out a while and at least one updater/service pack has been released. Regardless of the discount one obtains for jumping on the bandwagon right away, the aggravation isn't worth the savings--especially if you're in the middle of a huge commercial project. Won't ever go past Windows 7 until I am forced to, either.

Thanks so much, Andy!
Glad to know I'm not going insane
No desire to run to Pro 2014 or v11 at the moment -- especially being in the middle of a big project with Pro 2012 -- but maybe I'll make an upgrade after I finish what I'm working on. I tend to shy away from new versions until at least its first service pack comes out.
Will just take some Valerian Root and deal with it for now, LOL!
Thanks again. I'll see if anyone at Runtime has found a solution.
Thread: Coming Back to Poserland | Forum: New Poser Users Help
. Poser has certainly grown to become a much deeper program than it was in version 4.
But Kai Krause's and his team's basic interface still remains, thank God!
Thread: Coming Back to Poserland | Forum: New Poser Users Help
I feel for you, Xatren.
I learned Poser 4 with the ProPack in 1999/2000 and didn't have a powerful enough computer to handle any newer version until I built a new workstation in 2008. I then got Poser 7 and have been retraining myself with that, then Pro 2010, and now, like you, I am using Poser Pro 2012.
I highly recommend the Infinite Skills DVD video training sets, particularly Steve Pubrick's LEARNING POSER 8/POSER PRO 2010. They have been discounted recently and can probably be had for about $50 today at Amazon. (Better to buy the hard discs, not the download.)
Also, Richard Schrand's book PRACTICAL POSER 8 is a good adjunct to Pubrick's videos -- though, after about a third of the way in, Schrand gets a little sloppy sometimes in describing the steps in his tutorials.
I use and am still using both of those and am very happy with them.
Pubrick's video tutorials are excellent and Schrand's book is very good.
