Thanks Diane :) They have set me back in my 1920's ladies by about 3 weeks, these pants. I got them in my head and cannot seem to work on anything else till I have them and textures just right for them. It is still a WIP, and will hopefully have several styles and textures by the time I am done. I am also making a pair of Riding Breeches for my well bred 1920's gals out of the same base pants but morphed slightly differently. I have been struck down by a dreadful cold and have also just begun a new project illustrating all kinds of boring crap for the DoD, so my Genie pants are on the back burner till I can breath again ;P Liz
Thread: Corel buys MetaC products | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Corel ALREADY long ago bought Ray Dream Studio guys, and has been packaging it ever since then as Corel Dream in Corel Draw. They also based their own 3d fontographer gizmo of Corel Draw 7 on Ray Dream studio's engine too. Bryce would logically be dumped into the Corel Draw package, along with the real and latest versions of Ray Dream Studio, since Corel left off updating Corel Dream when they purchased it way back at version 4. Painter would most likely replace or get integrated into photopaint. As to Adobe, the BEST possible fate any of these products could have is to go to Adobe. I mean think about it. Corel is a hack shop. They sell low end software erm... well just like Metacreations did. Not BAD softare mind, but NOT industry standard software either. Anything picked up by Adobe will immediately be conformed to graphic industry standards, and if not, Adobe will MAKE a new standard and bequeath it onto us graphics slaves. Why do I say this is good? How many of you work in this industry for a living? I do. It DID cost me a fortune to lay hands on and learn industry standard graphics applications, sure. They were ALREADY industry standard. Those of you who today would not be given the time of day with Carrerra, Bryce, Canoma, Poser or Painter on a resume, as far as getting a job goes, would suddenly be a leg up and better off if Adobe picked these up. I am not sure how to explain what I mean, and I don't want to come off as a snob. Really. But I guess what I am trying to say is this, so what if Adobe skyrockets the price tag? You can get work knowing this software, if Adobe picks it up, and in 3e billable hours, make enough money to go buy anyones blasted software you want. See? The user interface sure, may turn GREY. Good. Grey does not leave a color cast or influence the eye when one is working. Adobe will toss in industry standard layers, multiple undoes and redos, industry standard export filters, and release one hell of a cool SDK for you coder types who always dreamed of hacking your own plugins for Metacreations software. The software will then go from "hobbyist" software to "serious graphics industry" software, and you who always wished you could quit your day job, and work as an artist like I do, can then go and say to prospective employers, "Let me show you what I did in Adobe Carerra, and what I can do for you." and this is a GOOD thing. Work is good.
Thread: Vicki. War of the Sexes? Genitalia, General Thoughts. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think the "feud" is not so much a feud, or perhaps even a war of the sexes (though I still wonder on that one, since I think and it seems most women think, that Vicki is alright look) but maybe it is just that we have forgotten what Posette looks like straight out of the box? I mean she is fairly disappointing. Sure she is lovely, and she had potential, so everyone set about making her more what she was needed to be. Now everyone is back to square one with Vicki (and I STILL like Millie as a name better). But that is just it. It is I like this. You like that. So what do we do? We all yell at Zygote for not making what each of us in our own way liked. That is no war, that is not even valid, that is just whining. Learn to model your own 3d geometry for gods sakes and buy 3d studio max. Ok enough. What IS though a valid issue really, is the maps did not fit right. And the lack of genitalia. Those are just incredibly basic expectations that I do not think were too much to ask for. I think had those two issues been addressed there would not be a war, we would all just settle down to morph her face and body to what we like.
Thread: Trouble with Eve's Textures? WOOHOO Good news at last! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Making better gen maps now, by using the original gen area of Torino's maps, and Tim's "Clean" p4 maps. I wonder if since I am cobbling together two sets, if I can post them? Oh and working on a less...well less hrm, hairy transparency map for the pubic prop, and brown eyes, and all that. Liz Birdsong hbg@kreative.net
Thread: Vicki. War of the Sexes? Genitalia, General Thoughts. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I wanted to reiterate, IF I ask for my money back on Victoria, it is over the issue that despite the fact the model is clearly better constructed to achieve future end goals with on the whole, she has no genitalia. After purchasing many of Zygotes characters now, it has occurred to me suddenly that perhaps the only way to get Zygote to comply and create a woman with her parts is to simply ask for a refund on those that are neutered.
Thread: Linlin, my new model | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
She is beautiful, and looks alive :) Will you release her for use by all of us? I went onto your site, and wonder if you will perhaps let us all use your utilities you have created? the Morph Target Converter for Eve, which is my preferred character, and the Mt Mirror, and other tools you have developed. I could really use tools like that :) Bast

Thread: 40's & 50's clothing | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I am working on costumes and characters from the first half of the 20th century, and hope to get to the 1940's and 1950's eventually, but am still in the 1910-1930 period. I wish Zygote or someone with faster skills than I in this area would take up making clothing and body types of the last century, or pitch in to form a 20'th century team of us who create things for retro characters.

Thread: Canoma now owned by Adobe, is Poser/Bryce far behind? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Adobe, or Macromedia picking up Poser would be the best thing to ever happen to it short of Discreet/Kinetix. One of the "problems" faced by almost all products out of Metacreations that has in the end affected their marketability, is they are not considered "serious" products by the graphics industry. Quite frankly, though they produce LOVELY end results, the nonstandard interfaces, quirky/and-or/artistic controls, etc, have inhibited the graphics industry from even wishing to hire those who only have experience in metacreations products. Adobe or one of the other "serious" houses such as Discreet would do a world of good for any metacreations product by standardizing interface, import, export and other issues, as well as improving the workflow so that one can work in these products at commecial production speeds. Also any product picked up by Adobe or one of the better houses will have tons of "plugins" made for it to expand it's usability. Expensive? yes, Adobe is. Worth it? Definately. By knowing Adobe products inside and outside, one gets JOBS. Jobs pay money, money buys cutesy programs like Poser that your boss thinks is not a serious product so won't buy for you ;)
Thread: Thanks to Torino For This Discovery | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have been using the Eve figure for a good while now, as the base for a Caucasion/American/European type flapper series of personages. I have also bought Miss Millie as well. I will go on with Eve as my personal favorite at this time, and find it interesting that long after Torino made his "discoveries" on how to better divide up the body that Zygote followed down the path he paved previously with Eve. Yet I did not locate any readme file in my zygote download saying if they learned from his method, or giving any credit. Ah well. Who knows.
Thread: Hair - on the right track at last! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Looks Great! I hope you will let us all have her? And maybe also make her fit Millie, which I agree DOES make a better name for Victoria than the name her creators gave her ;) Detailer became Painter 3d, and a copy came with Poser, sort of one of those limited edition some portions disabled versions.
