Thread: Will P5 make custom facial morphs obsolete? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I wonder if the way that P5 will bring accessable face morphing to the masses will engender new flurries of identity copyright issues? I'm relatively unfamiliar with what existing laws say but can imagine an increase in the buzz on this topic as a result of P5. Hey x2000 Sorry I called you a troll when you were trolling. :) I agree with your comment in this thread.
Thread: POSER 5 RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED!!!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
yawn OK, so x2000 is a troll. Dime a dozen at any board. I sort of like clever trolls, but this sort of thing is just plain lazy. C'mon, x2000, tweaking P5 worshippers here is like shootin' fish in a barrel. Don't be boring, be interesting! Remember, we may be stereotypes of ourselves, but we are smart and creative. You're a stereotypcial troll, but where's the smarts and creativity? Back under the bridge with you until you can be an interesting troll. :-) On the other hand, I also advocate not obssessing on P5, difficult 'though the task may be.

Kupa, please know that when we say "dork," it's with love in our hearts. :) Thanks as always for the info!
Thread: BAT Laboratory New Home | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have no problem accessing this site. At the Poser newsgroup, members determined that the problem related to firewalls, although I'm not sure which ones. Try accessing with your firewall(s) turned off and see if that helps. If not, I have no idea why some of us can load the site and others can't. Good luck!
Thread: Im my dream he chases me | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hey, I've had that dream, too! Usually I become paralyzed when he starts chasing me, and then I wake up thinking "whew!" Lovely, effective work. It's rare that a render pushed this far in Photoshop turns out looking so well. Bravo!

This looks great ... best wishes for its completion. Only one thing ... this character looks perfectly masculine, whereas The Rock in "Scorpion King" had bizarrely effeminate eyebrows (LOL.) I like your version better. The Rock should take makeup tips from Cromwell1.
Thread: 55 New Lights Posted | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I had a lot of fun playing with the Pastel lights last night, and am very excited to find these latest sets. Thanks for your generosity, Traveler! Never too many light sets... Regarding backlighting; if you (like me) don't have ProPack, simply switch to auxilery view, back up the camera if you need to, and add spotlights from there. You might want to "point object at" some backside body or prop part, then use the x, y, and z trans dials to get the thing exactly where you want it. You can then switch spot to global, if you want, or decrease the "point at" dial. Trying to do this from the main camera or facial views is an exercise in futility. Forget about manually moving lights via the UI ... dials are the only way to fly. Sorry if this is all obvious to the pros out there ... just trying to help other newbies like me.

Ziggy3D, thank you very much for making this fine work available for free. Very generous of you, very much appreciated! These are really beautiful set props. xoconostle
Thread: Anaglyph...Stereophonic pics with Red/Blue Glasses | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm sorry to her that 3D will stunt my growth because I'm doing a presentation on 3D photography for my Physics class using a Victorian stereoscope and 3D images rendered in Poser. I'm already 6"1' tall, though, so I don't mind if I don't grow any more.
Thread: Rendering times and what goes into them (need info) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have the same Win98/Poser problem as Yunas sometimes, and I'm positive that it's due to insufficient physical RAM. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like Poser doesn't use virtual memory at all. Yunas, if you're using hi-res textures, try resizing them to half their current size. In some cases I only had to reduce the skin texture, not heads or eyes. It's also possible that even though it doesn't seem like it, you've loaded your scene with more than your computer can handle. I can't render with four human figures unless they're all lo-res in both geometry and texture. Two, yeah, with a minimum of props. note to self: must expand RAM ... must expand RAM ...
Thread: Placement of runtime folder during defragging... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Eric (and everyone) Your comments are intelligent, but you might want to consider that appropriate intervals of defragmentation cut down considerably on the amount of "disk thrashing" likely to occur if you don't defrag often enough. In other words, the wear and tear on the hard drive will ultimately be less if you defrag when it's time to do so (obviously this will vary from user to user.) The amount of wear caused by the defragmentation process is likely to be far less than what will happen if your HD actuator and spindle are working overtime on a daily basis. I also don't have statistics to support my view, only some experience and training. Opinions on this vary a lot. For those who may not know, Windows users can make defragging a lot faster and smoother by running it from Safe Mode (hit the F8 key at bootup, then select the Safe Mode option.) Also, you should run a thorough ScanDisk prior to defragging. The "thorough" option will set aside any bad HD sectors so that Defrag won't write to them. Since these programs can take a long time, you might want to start them just before going to bed or work. I don't think it's possible to avoid some eventual file/cluster fragmentation when using any Windows OS. If it is possible, both I and Mr. Gates would enjoy knowing how! :) xoconostle, who thinks Ron Howard ruins his own movies by being too syrupy
