Understood on imaginary titles (there goes 'Ringworld Nightsoil Collectors'...) and postwork. Could you confirm a yes or no on compositing, please? Ta.
Thread: ~*April Poser Challenge!*~ | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sounds a good challenge. I'd go for the "no postwork except text" option - but would compositing be allowed?
Could you clarify something? Can we create a cover for an already-published book or does the title as well as the image have to be entirely our own?
I have something I worked on a while ago which would fit, but it's for an existing book rather than an imagined one.

The program I was after has been updated, and released on Sourceforge as open-source.For those who are interested, here's a shot of what it does - adds a tab to shortcuts so that you can automate screen resizing as the program starts, and restore your default size when it finishes.
Looks like a different program to jfike's, by the way.

Thread: DAZ'S NEW MARCH MADNESS ITEM!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
On the $0.43 problem; I had the same issue as Francemi. Yes, a character set at that price is fine by me. But DAZ's original publicity states...
"but instead of offering the DAZ|Original New Releases at our usual 30% off for a couple of weeks, we're going to release several new products at ridiculously low prices!"
I don't think it's a big deal, but they have departed from their DAZ|Original only policy.

Thread: OT Dr Who is back! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Actually, this thread may not be so OT after all - I thought Rose's boyfriend looked a dead ringer for a Poser figure once he'd been "plasticized".

tlaloc321; you mention the BSOD - which version of Windows are you running? If I'm right in remembering that P6 needs Win2K / XP / 2003, and you're running 98 or ME (which have the BSOD as a 'feature'), it could be a simple (but pretty fundamental) case of the wrong OS.

I have a copy of Acadia's image - I attach it for comparison.

What I didn't get from the statement was which feature finally tipped the balance - texture compatibility, clothing compatibility or something else? Was it a combination of factors which finally made Lilin too 'V3-like'?
The reason I ask is that there are a number of Unimesh texture-compatible items in freestuff (one or two in the marketplace as well). I'd imagine the MP vendors have been very careful about obtaining consent for their items, but what's the score on the freebies?

Thanks for this.
A thought for Larry Niven / Known Space readers - it could be reworked to make a passable Thrint.
Thread: Do "Heavy Metal" artists use poser? Just a thought... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've wondered about Fred Beltran's characters - not Poser necessarily, but possibly images based on 3D renderings. I've posted one here.
More generally in the sf/fantasy field, Fred Gambino definitely uses Poser. I'll post a pic of his to demonstrate when I can dig one out.
Thread: GIF as a texture? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Aren't GIFS limited to 256 (ie. 8-bit) colours?
If this isn't an problem for you, though, there would be an advantage, because a GIF will take up less memory, even when expanded, than a 32-bit JPG, BMP or TIF.
I don't know enough about the Quicktime issue to comment.

Silverlief Studios' "SS Texture Development Pack" was the first (I think) merchant resource produced a couple of years ago. It's not the cheapest, but it's a full 50mb-worth of textures (all painted) for V1/2 and V3. This should provide what you're after.

It's coming on well. Like ysvry, I remember the Spit from my Airfix days, many years ago.
Looks from the background images as though you're modelling either a Mk. V or a Mk. IX - is that correct?
Thread: Learning to texture SP3!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
For five hours from start, I'd say that's not bad.
If you're planning to distribute your textures you could pick up an inexpensive merchant resource - there are some around here for around $10 - and learn a bit more by pulling that apart and incorporating it into your work.
If you haven't already, you might want to invest in the Universal Texture Convertor from DAZ; more expensive, but worth it in the long run.
I say this because the V3/SP3 body is a nightmare to texture from scratch, and I've had some success in texturing a V1/2 body (easier) and converting it to V3. Conversely, I always find the V3 head easier than V1/V2.
Don't go overboard on the extra plugins, though; the ones to convert between V1/V2, V3 and M3 should be enough.
Hope this helps.

Anything by Lipps Inc
"Who's That GIRL" - The Eurythmics or Madonna
"Sha LaLaLa Lee" - The Small Faces
And the Meatloaf song could also be "Bat Out Of Elle".
