Nooooooooo... Not Peeks and Pokes! ;) It's been so long since I even touched a C64 for programming (maybe 15 years or so) that most of it is forgotten (or, in computer terms, garbage collected for more recent storage needs: C,C++,Java :). So, back to the topic. Is DAZ Studio going to work on a C64? ;-)

No problems, sandoppe. My first reply was just a first step in determining his problem. Just two different approaches here. :)

I thought "Basic" was in there somewhere as it was the basic programming interface unless you wanted to program in assembly.

Don't forget: rsr = not needed by Poser 5 (put in trashcan) Textures and geometries must be in the correct folder hierarchy (as specified in the library files - cr2, pz2, hr2, etc) to be found by Poser 5, otherwise you get the dreaded endless prompts for their locations.

If you'd rather be more "original" in your interpretation of what a Dino looks like, Gregory S. Paul is an excellent paleontologist/paleo-artist who uses his extensive knowledge of Dinosaur anatomy and reconstruction to realistically show what they looked like (skeletal, muscular, or overall). If you can get to a library and find a book with his illustrations, you can maintain originality while using expert reference images to get a degree of authenticity. And don't forget to have fun!! :)

WinME required a 50 gallon drum of Quaaludes! :) I never had it install, work, or "plug and play" properly. It failed spectacularly during beta (wouldn't even install) and wasn't much better after release. Multiple devices (lists of the same one), BSoD, BkSoD, system freezes; it sucked. It remained on my systems for about 1 day before begrudgingly moving to Windows 2000 Pro (begrudgingly because many games at that time did not run under it). Now, I consider Win2000 Pro the best Microsoft OS yet. And they are going to pull support for it soon (stupidly, since there are probably tens of millions of users of Win2000). I think that software developers have to draw the line on the OSes supported. Otherwise, they'd have to support MSDOS 1.0-6.0, WFW, Win3.1/3.0, BeOS, AmigaOS, C64-OS (whatever that was called), NeXT, and so forth and so on. Win98 and MacOS 9.x are good bottom lines.

Hey there, DAD, Just offering whatever I could find online (not much). Didn't say they were quality or anything! :) Yours definitely looks better than the one on 3dcadbrowser. There are of course some nice ones on TurboSquid for a price, but a steep one at that. :( That book I mentioned is highly regarded for creating 3D CG Dinosaur models (and even includes a section on making a T.Rex). I plan on getting it myself soon. Even if you cannot afford it yet, you should consider getting it eventually if you plan on making more Dinosaurian models, as seems to cover everything necessary (modeling, boning, texturing) without being application specific. Amazon has it used for as little as $24. Keep at it! :)

sandoppe, you didn't read mine very well either, did you? Take off those green glasses. :) Nowhere did I infer that you are running at screen resolution 640x480 (the word "Document Window" is well known to me), but that if someone were to run it below 1024x768 screen resolution, Poser would complain (as it does and did) and one would be required to fix the interface because of this or increase screen resolution. Again, Softsnow must have a screen resolution lower than 1024x768 or on first running this message would not appear. That is to what I was referring. And, to grahamjames, yes, I was of course referring mainly to 17" CRT monitors. The same applies to desktop 17" FPDs (which almost all support native resolutions of 1280x1024). Laptops are a different matter.
To conclude: - Poser is set to run at a minimum screen resolution of 1024x768.

Sure the screen resolution makes a difference. Why do you think that the message says, "Proper window size unavailable,..."? I've only received this message when I mistakenly left my display at a lower resolution than the one normally used. You can run Poser at 640x480 or 800x600 after making adjustments, but it expects at least 1024x768 (check out the smallest prefs xml in Prefs). I've always run at 1280x1024, but now at 1600x1200, I can set the Document Window to 1024x1024 with plenty of room for all of the tools. Most 17" monitors are capable of at least 1280x1024x32bit. [sarcasm] Do I hear a groan from all of those who can afford Poser 5, but can't afford a $100-$200 17" monitor? [/sarcasm]

There's one for free at these sites: 3dcadbrowser.com and turbosquid.com (It's Shockwave 3D format (?)) Also consider "Modeling Digital Dinosaurs" by Ken Brilliant.
