Sorry about that. Appears that one of my "Enters" while doing the math didn't take. Yes, it would take me about 2-2.5 hours to get 774MB. They would probably zip it, but it would still be about 650-700MB (unless they used a high-compression ratio). But, let's look at this another way. Can you get C4D, 3DSMax, LightWave, SoftImage, Rhino, and countless other 3D apps by download? Nope to most. Just the way they work with this stuff, I guess. Wait for DAZ Studio, but be warned that the beta is going to be nothing more than rendering software until they get modules written for it. I'd contact CL sales and see if they can arrange a download if that's the only way you will accept it. The manuals are all available as PDF, so it shouldn't be too difficult for them. Let us know. :)

Let's put it this way. The 2 CDs contain 774MB of data. With my 768Kbps T1 connection, and if CL could upload as fast, it would take 27 hours to download the entire thing. Does that answer your question? ;)

They should be used in concert. If you have a set of poses/morphs that you like but want to fine-tune, fiddle, or try other poses, then you want to Edit->Memorize->All or ->Figure. If or when you want to restore that memorized pose/morph set, just hit Edit->Restore->All or ->Figure. If you haven't memorized before selecting restore, you'll get the base figure in base pose. Simple as that.

I don't have 3DSMax or Brazil, but have heard that it's the best out there (as can be seen by its price ;). I'd only consider Max and Brazil if I were doing this professionally (or won the lottery :), especially at the combined cost of $4700!

It's easier than that rogergordian. All you have to do is have the scene saved and select File->Revert and it will restore to the last saved scene.

I feel for her possible extenuating circumstances, but she enrolled to learn this skill, hopefully towards a career, and the burden is on her shoulders to remain honest, actually understand what she is learning, and put it to use. Because, in the end, she will not get very far in "the real world" by using this approach. Cutting corners, dishonesty, plagarism, and so forth can get you pretty far if you're cunning, careful, and artful at hiding the connections. But for most, this usually ends in shameful disaster.
Thread: ???? Poser 5 FACE ROOM???? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I can tell you from what I've seen of the Face Room files (under Runtime->heads) that they are not editable like CR2 files. The XML file registers the P5 figures with keys. How those keys are determined is not mentioned anywhere. The PH5 files are binary (possibly just encrypted), so it would require a knowledge of what format they represent which could be proprietary. I agree that if anyone is working on cracking this one, it will take some time because of these binary files. Maybe some inside info will get out about how this all works. ;)

Sorry that I'm coming off so negative, but there was alot of hype about the efficacy of the Face Room before Poser 5's release. In reality, the limitations on figures and texture size make it mostly useless, for some of us at least. If they'd increase the texture size, I'd be willing to use it or do some work to see about getting other figure meshes in there myself. And to be on the positive side, there are many Poser users whose talents at finding loopholes, pushing the envelope, and working around problems and limitations in Poser must be commended. That's why I'm sort of not holding my breath on this one (I think someone would have found it by now, but one never knows). :)

Those are incredible hands for a novice. I'd look around for this figure online if I were you. And to be sure, have her model the hand in front of you and see if she can reproduce anything close (after all of the work she put into it, it should be a snap :).
Thread: ???? Poser 5 FACE ROOM???? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
My first comment was concerning the fact that you cannot use other, better or worse figure meshes for the Face Room (which started some retaliatory responses - all finished). Don't you think that if this could be done, then by now it would have been? There are tens or hundreds of thousands of Poser 5 users all over the planet and it has been out for some time now. Don't you think that a few have tried? We would have known about it by now... BeatYourSoul

Thread: ???? Poser 5 FACE ROOM???? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It was on topic... The only models that can be used with the face room are Don & Judy. V1, V2, V3, M1, M2, Dina, P1-4 figures, and so on, will not work. Plus, texture images are limited (indefinitely and more than likely forever) to 512x512, which is pitiful. I routinely use 1024x1024 and 4096x4096 texture maps for the head. Other than that, I have no idea nor any compulsion to find out how to use other figures there.
Thread: Question! Flash and Poser?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
When rendering animations, you can select "Sequence Type" as Macromedia Flash. There are also settings for the format. The easiest way to convert clothes in this fashion, a skirt to loin cloth or long-sleeve to short-sleeve shirt for instance, would be to use a transparency map to "virtually" cut away areas of the clothes. Transparency maps are just gray-scale images where black (0,0,0) represents total transparency and white (255,255,255) represents total opaqueness, grays varying inbetween. If you take the clothes color texture map, convert it to gray-scale, then make the textured areas white and everything else black, you can black out white areas to remove cloth from the clothes. This is then applied to the transparency channel of the clothes material.
Thread: Poser and TFT monitors?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
And I guess we haven't answered the question. Poser should work on any monitor. It doesn't work well in a multi-monitor setup if you try to put some of its windows onto another monitor, but it will work just as well on a CRT as TFT monitor. Apple's TFT Studio and Cinema Displays are fantastic (I was using a 17" Studio Display until very recently - only switching back to CRT for stereoscopic shutter glasses - which don't work on TFTs). They are still expensive, but coming down in price - the 17" Studio Display is now only $699. I have mine on eBay for about $400! :0)
