arrghhh! yeah you're right. Just irritated because I bought Vue under false pretenses, and just wanna use the damned thing for what I wanted to use it for :-)

Thread: poserPython scripting qesution .. duh ;) | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
ockham-- Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I tried your script, with mixed results. The script isn't too bad actually given the limitations of poser python. But I was unable to get the desired results. In a lightset I was testing there were about 15-20 OFF lights, after running the script there were 17. So, to say it worked would be wrong in my case. I am not sure what else to do about my situation other than craking open the files myself and removing them. The reason I am in such need to remove these lights is the now infamous P4 targetted spotlight problem in P5...it barfs and won't render... Oh well.... perhaps I will take another crack at the script. It sure would be nice if they could expose more of the POM (poser object model). PoserPython could be VERY powerful then ;-) Thanks again for your time
Thread: making good boulders/cliffs | Forum: Vue
thx guitta ... since I am technically a "bryce convert" (lol) the vue terrain editor is taking some time to get accustomed too. Yes, I was referring to the foreground, mainly foreground left. I have been unable to create something similar to that using either the terrain or the rocks. Is there some way to make rocks look better? Seems to me like when you resize 'em they get very jagged and don't look very realistic at all, or at least not like in that pic ... thanks again
Thread: PoserPython and OnOff? | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
tried some other things as well... no dice :-( It seems to me that when using p4 lighsets in p5 that have OFF lights it chokes. I would hate to have to remove the offending lights one by one by HAND no less...

Unfortunately I tried your suggestion ... and even though the light is OFF, its intensity came back as 1.0, not 0.0
Thread: import poser5? | Forum: Vue
hmmm I tried that but when I point it at my poser5.exe I get the "You have an invalid Serial .. blah blah blah" ... My copy is legit, but Vue doesn't like it :-)

lol ... as a software developer I would be interested in looking at their implementation. At least to clear up some memory issues ...heheh
Thread: Render Question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
that is not true ... 3000 DPI is much higher resolution than 72 DPI no matter how you slice it. If you print out a poser render at 300 DPI and one at 72 DPI the latter will look worse, trust me I print them out all the time. .... On screen, you are correct the monitor cannot perceive resolution, so in that sense the one at 72 DPI will look the same .... but not on paper.

tasquah: the cast shadows box = excellent idea mate!! I could see how that will speed up rendering when composing the scene :-)
Thread: Render Question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
ahh yes ... OK... DPI stands for Dots Per Inch, and what that number means is pretty self-explanatory. It tells you how many dots will appear on a given line in an inch of space. So, the higher the number the more dots which means better resolution. Another important measurement to know if you decide to get into printing would be LPI (or Lines Per Inch). That number tell you how many lines will appear in an inch. I think the standard for that is 150, but someone who knows more about printing should correct me of I am wrong. As far as what tasquah is talking about I agree. When you are working on your image you should start smaller than what you want in the end. Otherwise it will take bloody forever to render 1600x1600@300DPI just to see if the hair looks right or whatever. Something to keep in mind would be to set up your document to have the same aspect ratio (i.e. 4:3, or 640x480) so when you do go for the final large render it will look the same (only bigger) as what you worked on. Hope that helps

sheesshh! I agree too :-) I think I can live without changing the color... I thank you guys for responding happy rendering!!
Thread: Render Question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Personally I will generally render at at least 2X the final size I want and at either 300DPI, or 600 DPI depending on if I plan to print the work or not. This will give you some really great renders at high quality hope that helps

you could also modify the hi-res textures on your machine and save it out as a smaller file as well when needed. That is what I do. I got the hi-res textures (which are awesome BTW) and when I need lower res, I use my modifed texture... HTH
