You can type "po2" or "po3" while running Poser (similar to the hair trick) and switch the interface between older versions of Poser and the P3/P4 interface. Just tried it on my iBook and it seems to work just fine. :) Probably works on the PC as well. Lee
Thread: Converting from PC to MAC? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks to MartinC there is an excellent way to convert PC Poser files to the Mac. He has made a utility called Poser Maconverter. It works perfectly and it's FREE. :) Here's his web site where you can download it: http://home.main-rheiner.de/soft.rabbit/ I typically use Stuffit Expander to expand the PC .zip file. Then I drag the resulting folder (with all the .pz3, .cr2, .obj, whatever files) onto Maconverter. Make sure the settings are what you want (you can set the default settings in preferences I think) and click on "convert." It's extremely fast and easy. The result will be Mac formatted Poser files which you can then move into the appropriate Runtime subfolders. Hope this helps!! :) Lee
Thread: Michael vs Protomorph? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I should have mentioned in my earlier reply that I'm using a Mac (iBook SE.) ProtoMorph converted perfectly using MartinC's excellent Poser Maconverter 1.1.2 utility. Conversion and installation of the PC formatted Poser files probably took about a minute. Most of that time was moving a few folders into the appropriate Runtime subfolders. It was a completely painless process. There was nothing at all unusual with getting the files onto the Mac and into Poser. ProtoMorph works perfectly on my iBook. I hope this helps! :) If you have any Mac/ProtoMorph questions, let me know and I'll do my best to answer them. Lee
Thread: Michael vs Protomorph? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
As a delighted owner of ProtoMorph, I can give you a little insight as to why he works so well for me: ProtoMorph is based on the P4 Nude Male. The P4NM clothing, poses, textures, etc. work with ProtoMorph. Also, the wide variety of existing morphs work with the figure as well. ProtoMorph comes with some pre-defined body poses/characters: aged, bodybuilder, overweight, young and a default (model) body. ProtoMorph comes with a library of posed faces: 5 African, 3 Asian, 5 Caucasian, 3 Native American and 1 default face. ProtoMorph has more morphs than the standard P4NM, including body morphs and body part morphs. The head has some nice morphs giving much more control over the face. I'm constantly amazed by the versatility of this figure. Beth has done a remarkable job on him. Her morphs seem "smoother" to my eye than other figures/morphs that I've used. Of course, being based on the P4NM, ProtoMorph is subject to its limitations: low vertex count (as compared to Michael) and some joint parameter issues, for example. From my observations, it appears that Michael has a very pleasing "common man" look to him. A big attraction for me would be his enhanced facial morphs. I love what I've seen of them! I'm sure I'll purchase him in the future, but may wait a little while until more add-ons are available for him (morphs and clothing being the primary ones.) You may want to consider both characters if that's an option for you. I'm sure Beth will be able to answer any questions you might have. She and I communicated several times via email before I purchased ProtoMorph. Just a little feedback from the ProtoMorph side of the house. :) Lee
Thread: Male Hairy Chest? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've put up a rather loose tutorial on how I use Photoshop to do post-render work on my Poser images. One of the things I do is enhance Anton's P4 male texture to give more definition to the chest hair. Perhaps it will give you a starting point to build on. Here's the url: homepage.mac.com/leemoon/ just select the "Quick Guide" link and you'll be taken through about 17 pages of (very basic) instructions. Lee
Thread: That hair thing in Poser | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi duesentrieb. I'm running Poser 4.02 (last Metacreations patch) on a Mac. To see the Hair thing, you can do the following: Once Poser is running, go to Props and add a ball prop. Make sure it is selected. On your keyboard type "hair" (without the quotes). A window will open with a bunch of parameters. At the top of that window is a button labeled "create on current object" (or something along those lines). Click on the button and watch the hair grow. Lee

Not sure if this will help or just give you some rope! :) I've got a mini-tutorial on using Photoshop to do post render touchup on Poser images. Part of it shows how I enhance chest and facial hair to give it more texture. Here's the url: http://homepage.mac.com/leemoon/ Click on the Quick Guide link and it'll take you through about 17 pages of very brief explanations. Hope this gives you some ideas! :) I believe there are at least 2 wrestling/boxing ring props (with posable ring ropes) around. Try the Props Guild or search here on Renderosity for them. They included sample texture maps - so you could easily edit them in Photoshop/etc. to add your own logos. Lee
Thread: catsuit for men? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Have you tried the P4 Grouped Base Male Hero? I'd also like to have a male catsuit, but this seems to be working for me in the interim. :) I'll post a new message with an image of a silvery hero of mine using Travelers and SturkWurk's P4 Grouped Base Male Hero. Lee
Thread: ATTN Poser Users on Mac:Problems Uploading to Gallery | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I agree with Freakachu. Whenever posting any images, I have to use Navigator. IE tends to have difficulties uploading files. I'm using Mac OS 8.6 and IE 4.5. Lee
Thread: New automatic Poser file Installer for Macintosh | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Martin, Thanks so much for creating this wonderful tool! I just downloaded it and will try using it later this week when UPS delivers Poser 4 (I'm still on P3 and, yes, I've got ants in my pants waiting for P4 to arrive!). I've breezed through the release notes and Poser Macinstaller would've saved me a lot of time moving various Poser files in and out of my runtime folder. Again, thank you for providing the Macintosh Poser community with a great application!! :) Lee

Hey! Thanks for the kind words - Ikyoto, bloodsong and oddball. I'll submit it to Free Stuff when I figure out what I want to do about the hands. I'd actually considered doing a male and female version of the mechanoid. Maybe I'll make a female version to go with this male version. :) Thanks again!! Lee

Arendar - GREAT render. The texture and physique are first rate. Would love to see this available for download. Regarding the earlier comment re: wrists/hands - if your character has settings for bulge or pump for the forearms, you might want to scale that setting back. I had the same problem with one of my characters. In my case it helped tremendously. Keep showing us your work as it progresses. Lee
