Thanks for your reply. Budget constraints probably will limit me to an i7 7700 4 core, but good to know that high end video will not be necessary. Do you know if Poser 11 requires better video card?

On Wilmap's website under tutorials is one on common problems. Here is how she says to fix the issue in Daz:
Spikes and Deformations appear
Problem is this dropdown selection doesn't appear in Poser 11.

I wanted to share the image I came up with using back-lighting. I followed Bagginsbill's suggestions other than having to use a little more transparency. Gallery Image
Thread: Vue vs Bryce? | Forum: Vue

There no way I can afford $1400, but in three months I can save maybe half of that, so is it possible to buy the basic version and upgrade bit by bit? The two biggest disadvantages for Bryce is I can't import Poser animation and the render time is way to long. It took me 14 hours to render a 30 second scene, (but the result was beautiful)
Unless you just have money to burn or plan to get into this really hard core, go for Vue Complete. It's far less money than Infinite and should do what you need.

I tried adding some transparency at various percentages. That gave too much transparency. Then I tried using a gray texture as a transparency map, but it never looked right either. I wonder if refraction rather than transparency would be better. I'm just not that familiar with setting up material nodes.

Not familiar with Bentley Systems, but this sounds like it could be a good thing. Maybe they will have the money and resources needed to improve Vue, especially in marketing. Will be interested to see other opinions.
Thread: Sketchup to Vue | Forum: Vue
OK, with help from some kind folks on the SketchUp forum I think I have the problem solved. Just in case someone else has this same problem here is the solution. The path C:UsersYOUR USERNAMEAppDataRoamingSketchUpSketchUp 2015SketchUpPlugins was hidden by default on my computer. That is obviously why I could not find the AppData folder and it's subfolders. Someone suggested that I go to the properties for the C:UsersYOUR USERNAME folder and make the hidden files visible. Then I copied the Vue Export ruby files into the Plugin folder and restarted Stetchup Make 2015 and the Vue Export is now available. Hope this helps someone else.
