Am I the only one who thinks it REALLY BLOWS that content creators no longer support or even give a damn about Genesis 1?? 

While I am by NO means an "established seller," I do support BOTH Gen4's AND Genesis 1 in most of my recent content since getting back online, as much as is humanly possible. I'm working on one such package right at this moment actually, that would cover M4 and Genesis 1, and I have made morphed characters and poses for Genesis 1 as well. I have NO plans to drop support for Genesis 1, or the Generation 4's. On the flip side, however, I do NOT currently support Genesis 2's in any way, primarily because I find them to be far less flexible and less versatile than Genesis, and I basically see them as a step backwards from Genesis 1.

So, to answer your question above - no, not ALL content creators have abandoned Genesis 1. I do my best to support both where possible. But again, I am not an established seller; I'm a content creator who makes primarily freebies, with the occasional rare for-sale item which gets sold over on Content Paradise when I do come out with a for-sale item. My freebies get posted both to my main website, and to ShareCG under my brand (Childe of Fyre).

I don't have a LOT posted yet for Genesis 1, because I was offline for over a year due to lack of computer, but since getting back, I have been slowly producing more content again. No, not all content creators have abandoned Genesis 1. I am one that has not. Here is a current list of my Genesis 1 content (please note that I do not generally post freebies on Renderosity itself any longer) :

Blake Nightwind (Genesis 1 - shape and poses) - ShareCG and my personal website.

Traumatized Childhood (Genesis 1 - poses for the figure, built on the Basic Child shape set to 1.0) - ShareCG and my website.
Kendra (Genesis 1, Shape for the figure) - For-sale item; over on Content Paradise.

That's my current list of Genesis 1 supporting items. I've got another one in progress right now, Sani, who will be for both M4 (Poser native files for the Poser users) and Genesis 1 (DS native files for DS users), and be a full set of skin + options, and morphs. He's nowhere near ready yet, as he's a huge package and I'm still working on him and his add-ons at this time. I also have plans to re-dial Nathan Tlaloc's morphs onto Genesis 1 and release those as well (he was originally made for M4 some time before I lost online access, and I already had posted DS-native mats for using his skin inside of DS some time ago).

Okay, I absolutely LOVE what I'm seeing here. And honestly, I can't wait to get ahold of her and start doing some  serious figure support here. (provided there are morphs released for her...)

I like her shape. I love the fact that shes not a six foot, too-skinny, tall-torso'd, runway model or barbie doll. I like the fact that she has a little meat on her bones, and her overall shape is excellent. I LOVE the flexibility on her hands! I can't wait for the release. I want to play with her!!

I only have ONE request...

If it is at ALL possible.. can we AVOID setting hard limits?

I frequently spin dials well above and below 1.000 and -1.000, and something Daz started doing with the Gen4's that infuriates me is making those dials 'locked' at certain values. It makes character creation insanely difficult - especially if they "hard" lock those values such that even  editing the parameter dial value won't allow you to spin them past those points.

Yep... I've been having this exact problem with basically EVERY scene I build. No matter what I set up, if I have more than one figure and it's clothes, and a simple background (nothing detailed).... it will not render. Period. Out of memory errors on everything.

It has completely stopped my artwork. Very frustrating. I can set up scenes all I want, it just won't render unless I'm doing a single character portrait shot...

I have no idea what sort of hardware I'd actually need in order to run this thing fluently anymore. I have 2gbs o RAM, a 1.3ghz dual processor and a 512mb Nvidia card,and it just doesn't seem to want to render! Argh.

I figured it was probably something to do with one of the individual thumbnails or maybe one of the ads shown on the page, but if it was coming from one of the ads on the page, I don't think I'd have been the only one posting about it, LOL. I know the files themselves are tested before being approved, so that wasn't my concern.

I don't know. Maybe it's a false positive as well. I don't know enough about it to tell the difference, so I just killed the attempt. Should be noted though, that as soon as I clicked the abort-connection button, the dropdown options for what areas to be browsing in Freestuff then appeared... shrugs

I dunno what it is or why it's there, only that my AV clearly read it as a virus - three times - so I posted to see if somebody else has any clue. And maybe to warn Rendo staff that 'something' isn't right in there.

But, well... let's just say Renderosity will have one less freebie maker. I will not post anything here again. You can relay that to your higher ups that have their heads stuck up their behinds, or buried in the sand - whichever it is.

My gallery is gone. My freebies are gone from here as well, and I've been posting to both since 2002.

I'm sorry the policy has changed in this manner. The freestuff forum is nice, but let's face it - most freebie downloaders are NOT coming to the forums, they're searching the Rendo freebie section, which is of course where the higher ups are hoping to make the most pennies they can.

You aren't alone on the crashes! And I'm pretty sure by now that most of the crashes I get are actually due to the video card (as the error logs reference a dll file that is part of Nvidia's drivers...), rather than any sort of memory or hardware issue and such.

I don't know if your having -exactly- the same issues I'm having, but maybe some of the suggestions in there might help? Then again maybe not, as I'm still struggling with it as well.

Quality is going down.
Originality is next to nil (with a few notable exceptions).
Pin-ups and T&A-styled 'items' are dominating the market. (Excuse me while I gag.)
And prices continue to go UP and UP and UP.
Lack of support for the males (especially M3 and D3 and the Freak).
Lack of support for the pre-teens and toddlers and the baby figures.

This is why, with just a couple of exceptions for certain merchants, I do not buy in Rendo. The only places I really buy from on a regular basis is RDNA and Daz, and even those are getting rare, too.

V4 is crap. M4 is crap. NOT IMPRESSED with either one. I have to this point, yet to put V4 to any common use. Once in a blue moon I pull her out when I have to. Then put her away again and go cool off my temper. I HATE the Gen-4's, I have a list of gripes a mile long with them.

I resisted the switch from V2/M2 to V3/M3 as well, but after working with the Mil3's, I admit they are nice figures, with nice morphs. Still, to this day I will render with my P4fmale/emales, my Generation2's.

The market places are useless for those of us who do not do nudity, T&A's and pinup shots, by and large. And I have no intention to spend anymore cash on M4 or V4, that's for bloody sure. I picked up each of them, an outfit or two and morphs just to be able to provide some BASIC product support.

But then I also am not a merchant. I'm a freebie creator. I have always been a freebie maker. I will always BE a freebie maker. The entire marketplace mentality makes me sick and I have burned several times by Rendo and another place I shall not name. So I stick to making my freebies, and am glad to make them free. I keep hoping I'll get a better handle on raw modelling, because let me tell you, if I COULD model clothing and rig it and get it to conform etc, I would definitely be doing it for the neglected figures and such out there. I wish I could. Hexagon makes my mind explode. Wings3D I only barely have an amateur's handle on and I've been using it for years. Carrara? Too expensive, way too far over my head. Same for 3DSMax, Rhino3D, Lightwave, Maya, etc etc.

I think what the marketplace boils down to, is a symptom of society in general - and society in general, at least here in the united states, is degenerating more and more each year. There are times where I am tempted to pack up my kid and my belongings, take the great hike north into the Lady's icy tundra where things are still natural as She and nature intended, and never look back. The market places are just a symptom of the same stuff.

People respond to sex. So that's what gets advertised. People respond to pinups, skimpy dresses, and those 'warrioresses' who run around in bloody armoured underwear. (Don't get me started on THAT one....)

I won't bother to post up what I'd like to see in the marketplaces, because truth be told, unless it's really exceptional, AND I happen to have spare cash I can afford to part with, I'm not going to buy it any-darn-way. I'll always, ALWAYs hit the freebie areas first. (There's another pet-peeve for you. Rendo absolutely DESTROYED their bloody freebie database with this )(&£%&£^%)(&*#!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! new search method they have. There are no words for how much I hate it.)

Conclusion is? People buy skimpy and slutty. They don't buy every-day and realistic very often. This phenomenon goes for things like skin textures, and hair objects and shoes as well. Have you tried looking for just a plain old pair of sneakers? Good luck finding them. What about jeans and a t-shirt? You know, that AREN'T skin tight or have such a low v-necklin that you can see the breasts popping out of them a mile away...

I better stop here. I'm ranting again.
