Actually, from the expression on her face, she reminded me of Goldie Hawn in "Private Benjamin."

I'm having the same problem, and I am running Pro Pack. The system prompts me for location of .bum files, even though they're in .jpg format. When I try just renaming the files, it still doesn't find them. Any suggestions? I'm running Windows ME with version 4.2.1 of Pro Pack.
Thread: P Wizard - Is it any good? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Reading so many good things about P-Wizard, my ultra simple question is: can I use it to transform a Posette clothing item into a Vicki/Steph clothing item? And vice versa? Can I use it to make clothing from other 3D sources conform to any Poser character I want? If the answer to these questions is yes, I'm on my way to the Marketplace!

I did send a message to DAZ informing them of my displeasure. The cost of the product was not high, I'll grant you that; it's the fact that they were misleading in their advertising. Do that often enough and pretty soon people are paying hundreds for multiple products that won't work as promised. Not to mention the loss of reputation that occurs over time. Okay, DAZ didn't build this, they're brokering it. All the more reason to get the story straight. I didn't post here to grouse but to warn other people. Hopefully DAZ will make good one way or the other.

Thanks for all this great feedback. I'm playing with the lighting to see what other kinds of effects I can come up with. I tried to get more shadows on the ground, but no matter how I rotated those lights, they wouldn't show. I'll keep playing with it. If I get it worked out I'll repost. Oh, and Robot Girl DID come from DAZ, but it was back when they were Zygote. I guess they're not selling it anymore. Thanks, everyone!
Thread: New DAZ program | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
My wishlist: Sets/Room Builder - a program that makes it easy to construct settings and sets--indoor, outdoor, all kinds. Something that would allow you to design interior rooms--walls, floors, windows, doors, furnishings, the whole ball of wax--and exterior buildings (including facades, streets, grounds, everything) with a minimum of effort, and then be able to realistically render them from any angle. Something along the line of current floorplan programs, perhaps, but with more detail and designed for rendering, not printing out. Clothing Builder - Wouldn't it be great if we could draw lines on a 2D figure where we want sleeves, collars, buttons, fronts, pants, etc. to be, and then have them extrapolated into a 3D model? Greater still if that 3D model could be customized for P4 or Millenium figures at the touch of a button. Wouldn't it be great if there were templates for different kinds of clothes--modern, classic, fantasy, futuristic--and uniforms too, so we could just call up the template and customize it as we see fit? Wouldn't it be great too if we could download a dress or clothing pattern and import it into Clothing Builder, and have the program build a Poser-ready clothing model from the pattern for us? Mesh Enhancer - I am so SICK of adding morphs to clothing items to match the contours of the character, only to find that I have to turn nearly all the character's body parts OFF because they're breaking through the clothing mesh. Couldn't we have a program that calculated the number of polygons in a character model, compared that number to the polys in the clothing, and then adjusted the polygon levels of the clothing automatically so that they cover the model, regardless of how it is morphed? Posability - Nothing aginst Curious Labs, but I find the Setup room very frustrating to use. Instead of having to place bones everywhere, why can't the program calculate where the bones and bendable joints should be? Why can't we have a program that uses a wizard to determine if the figure is a biped, quadraped, or other, then based on measurements in the database, reads the dimensions of that model, and then reconstructs it with the bones in place? Or, why can't we have the ability to simply draw a box around a limb with our mouse, and have the bone assigned to that limb based on the boundries of the limb? We should then be able to lock or unlock the limb as we see fit, so that the bones don't overlap when drawing bounding boxes around adjacent limbs. Misc - Please, elimiinate crosstalk and give us collision detection. I'm tired of putting my figures hands through their legs! That's about it; hope this gives you some ideas, and I'm looking forward to seeing the new product when it comes out. (P.S.: This has nothing to do with the software under development, more with DAZ. It wouuld be nice if we could subscribe to DAZ for an annual fee and then download all the models we want, instead of having to pay for them individually.)

But I can't give you the address of PWFW, it's a deeply guarded secret! (Just kidding to cover my own dumbness!) Here it be.Thread: Posette and Vicki... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Gorak, try the libraries at PoserWorld/FairyWoods (PWFW). They're not free but the subscription fee is very reasonable and they have some of the best looking clothes for Posette I've ever seen. Nothing against the many fine artists here, of course; I'm sure most of them would agree with me.
Thread: A Poser 5 prediction | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This whole thread reminds me of the buzz over Star Wars, Episode 1. Everyone was so excited to hear there was going to be another Star Wars, and there was so much speculation that when the movie finally came out, EVERYONE was disappointed in it (it wasn't a great movie, but I'm not going to open that can of worms). The point is, there was so much anticipation I don't think it could have lived up to expectations even if it was brilliant. So, regarding Poser 5, I'm not going to anticipate. I'm just going to wait and see what happens when it comes out. Every new product promises to be revolutionary; the proof will be in the usage. I don't think P5 will be the cause of too much division; I've been a member of this site since '98 and haven't seen any pissing contests yet (maybe I'm standing under the wrong balcony). As far as the price goes, while $500+ is not exactly lunch money, I don't think it's too much for the average middle class person. I know plenty of people who thought nothing of paying that and more for PhotoShop, despite the fact that Paint Shop Pro nowadays is comparable. There are rendering packages out there that sell for thousands of dollars, not hundreds. And remember, we don't know what we'll be getting for that price. Maybe it'll come on five CDs with lots of tutorials and models and stuff. But there, see, I'm anticipating, and I shouldn't do that. And maybe it won't sell for $500 after all; we gotta wait and see. To quote from SHANE: "Someone's comin', Pa." "Well, let him come."
Thread: animation in poser -adding graphics- ??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I use another ULead product called GIF Animator 5. Forget the name, it imports all kinds of anomations and breaks them down frame-by-frame. You can then export them as frames, or as AVI's, MPEGs, MOV files and Flash animations. It also supports Photoshop plug-ins for batch processing of frames. No sound capability, though. One thing GIF Animator does that I think is cool is, when you import a Poser AVI file done with the default gray background, it makes the gray completely transparent! You get a bunch of single frames, each with transparent background. Great for saving time if you want to combine your frames as a layer with another product, like Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop. GIF Animator 5 cost me $29.95 retail...not a bad price.
Thread: FXR Creature Creator | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have this. It's very easy to use. Basically you're presented with a menu of different heads, arms, legs, and torsos, and you mix-and-match 'em to create different creatures. The models are somewhat NURBSy looking (is that a word?), but they're definitely humanoid. You'll also need a program like UV MAPPER or Painter 3D to make them look realistic; they come out looking like plastic statues. To make them work in Poser you'll need the Poser Pro Pack, unless you're really good with the PHI editor (I'm not). The Pro Pack allows you to assign bones for bending. I've had some success but I keep getting holes in the mesh, due to low polygon count or misplaced polygons; I don't know which. So, is it worth it? Yes, if you're not an expert modeler and you need something real quick and fairly easy; no, if you're looking for high res or realistic looking output. Last thought--there used to be a demo of the product on the company's website. I downloaded it and played with it first before I bought it. Demo would let you do everything except save or export models. Hope this helps.
Thread: Commercial vs. Non-Commercial | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I stand corrected on the profit vs. non-profit remark; it's been a while since I was in there. What I was confusing it with is the "R" icon that means Renderosity exclusive, and the "C" icon that means proceeds donated to charity. The point, however, remains valid. Renderosity must be putting something on the Marketplace submission form that says something like "Indicate here if it's a Renderosity exclusive" or "indicate if proceeds go to charity." They MUST...how else will the database know to display the "R" or "C" icon with the item? So, the whole point is, if they can do THAT for commercial stuff, why can't they just add a field to the Free Stuff database and submission form that says, "indicate if this item is for non-commercial use only" or "indicate if this item is freely distributable" or whatever verbage you like, and create an icon for that, which would then show up next to each Free Stuff item the same way the "R" and the "C" do for each MarketPlace item. It ain't hard to do, and it makes the download pages--regardless of whether their Free Stuff or MarketPlace--more consistent overall. End of confusion; end of problem.
