I'm hooked up for P12 (thanks Jenn!).Â
@hborre - The loom is best used to create a pattern from nothing (which is expensive and complicated), and then render/capture that pattern as a tiling texture image, which you can do right from Poser. Thereafter you just use the image.

Thread: Is anyone using Bagginsbill's matmatic/loom with Poser 11? | Forum: Poser 11 / Poser Pro 11 OFFICIAL Technical
I'm still here, low key lurking. I could probably get matmatic running in P12, but I don't have P12 myself, so as to try it.
The loom script is complicated but almost only deals with generating patterns. Such pattern generating nodes are not affected by SuperFly lighting rules/restrictions.
I do recall some problems with the Loom pre-dating the general adoption of built-in GC. You'd probably want all that stuff ripped out.
Hmmm. Would Rendo want to let me have P12 for free so I could do the updates?

Thread: How to shade backside of cloth differently in Firefly? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Haha - that IS from ages ago and I didn't know as much then. That shader is distinguishing not front and back, but whether the polygon is facing +Z or -Z axis. That's not the same as what you want. I can't remember if I found a FireFly solution.

The depth-cue is entirely in the atmosphere shader. The color is affected by distance to the surface as well as distance from the camera so you're right that it is more than just correcting the linear attenuation. Hmmmm. I don't even have Poser where I'm at. Maybe you could screenshot the shader and post it here and I can look it over?

Thread: Strand Hair Shader convert to Superfly from Firefly | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Note the color ramp was how to use that W number to make a rainbow. It has nothing to do with evaluating the W coordinate. If you only have two colors you would just directly use the root and tip color as-is.

Thread: Strand Hair Shader convert to Superfly from Firefly | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I wrote this shader in answer to a question long ago - how do I get a number indicating position along the length of a hair. You might say it's the W coordinate of the UVW (3D) coordinates associated with strand-based hair.
This is a hack - I took advantage of the hair node's root vs. tip color gradation. The color coming out of this node combines that gradient with a lighting equation. By dividing that by "white" hair, the lighting is canceled out and you get simply the position along the gradient.
It is illegal to use lighting nodes as "data" for math in SuperFly, so this isn't a tactic one can use with SuperFly.
However, SuperFly has many other nodes that reveal internal coordinates that FireFly never had. Perhaps there is literally a W coordinate you can get from the strand hair.
Using the "V" coordinate won't cut it - that will color each hair uniformly, not changing from root to tip. It will just change from top to bottom on the UV map.

Thread: Candle Flame Shader For Firefly... (Use Postwork Answer Is For Cowards!) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I managed to find my matmatic sources in an old dropbox folder. The rgb method was introduced in matmatic 1.7. There were several changes to make it easier to create colors either using integers or floating point numbers and not have to keep changing between Color and IColor. As well there were changes to make it optimize smarter, where sometimes a node network would be generated, and sometimes simple constants.
----------------------------------------------------
Matmatic 1.7.0
----------------------------------------------------
Added AmbientOcclusion parameter EvaluateInIDL.
Added PoserSurface parameter Gradient_Mode.
Added function rgb - constructs a color from three components. This is a smart function to construct colors statically (at compile time) or as nodes during the render. If any component is a node, a UserDefined node is created. If any component is a float, then Color(r, g, b) is returned. Otherwise, it returns IColor(r/255.0, g/255.0, b/255.0). Thus it is possible to express using either 8-bit (0 to 255) integer style or floating style (0.0 to 1.0).
Added function max(*args) - returns max of its arguments using compile-time math or numeric nodes or color nodes
Added function floor(x) - can take numbers (returns math.floor(x)) or nodes (returns Floor(x)) - thus it does the right thing.
Added function hsv(hue, saturation, value) - returns an rgb color (interprets int value as 0 to 255, float value as 0.0 to 1.0). This function will produce an exact color of all three inputs are known at compile time - otherwise it will create a node network that does the job at render time.

Thread: Poser 12 Python compatibility question | Forum: Poser 12
I don't usually respond to necro-posting (or anything lately) but I want to point out:
Python 2 was started in 2000, Python 3 in 2006
Python 2 was announced as end of life in 2008, with a termination in 2015 - 7 years notice - plenty of time to get ready
But lots of people refused/ignored the notification (including Poser team) so Python 2 was extended to January 1, 2020. It has been completely dead now for over 2 years.
It is irresponsible for Poser to include Python 2. It is unsupported and has security vulnerabilities WHICH WILL NOT BE FIXED, EVER.
Stop asking for it to come back - it will never happen.Â

You guys are way more cef-infested than you realize. The file names change you know. Check this out:
CEF is now part of Poser and ... my antivirus Bitdefender, my IntelliJ java development tools, almost all my games, my Oculus Quest 2, and even Adobe stuff.

Thread: Why Don't Nodes Stay Where I Put Them in the Material Room? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I didn't say that nor do I know whether they use it or not. I just think they don't use all of it or they'd notice and fix the material room. Blender makes it look lame.WOW, some don't even have Poser installed on their own systems? That's insane to me. Â

Thread: Why Don't Nodes Stay Where I Put Them in the Material Room? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is one of the issues that completely turned me off from using Poser.Â
The bigger question is this: why does such a seriously annoying bug get no attention from the development team? I believe the answer is because they do not use the product and have no idea how painful this is.
In my work, yesterday the product management team was asking for a bunch of changes in the software to help expose the cause of various problems (in a product of another company that we bought). I pointed out that the software can't get better until the developers stop isolating themselves from the user experience.
We're now (today) forcing the developers to install and use the product. I expect that lots of extremely annoying things will suddenly get the attention they deserve.

LOL.ÂI know how to get his attention.
Ahem...
Gamma correction is totally unnecessary under any and all circumstances!

Hi people. Yes Google sites forced a conversion and mine didn't work and I just completely forgot about it. Now it's gone.
I can probably recover the most important things over time. Also I bet tons of items are still in the hands of various active rendo users.
Shall we rebuild, possibly better, like when your house burns down? LOL
