Check the free space on your hard drive, it may be telling you that it cannot open a file for writing on the hard drive because it's full. This is also about the only thing that will give you an out of error message when running programs on Windows XP as it will utilize the swap file when it runs out of physical RAM. Just a guess. Brian
Thread: Daz3D and Customer Service | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You know, it's funny... but I came here tonight to post almost exactly the same message! I had ordered Mimic when it first went on sale. But when it didn't show up, I contacted them and they made sure that it was taken care of. But it occurs to me that it's more than just support after the fact. They seem to do a lot to support and promote the community. Take for example, their weekly free model. These aren't crappy little things like most software/publishing companies pass out. They're all very wonderful items that later appear in their store, probably many of which they sell for less than what they could be charging. Thanks, DAZ, for everything that you do for us! Brian
Thread: Walk Designer help needed | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Try this: 1. Use the walk designer 2. Make sure the Poser figure's Hip is selected 3. Open the Graph (Window -> Graph) 4. Select yTran from the drop down 5. Scroll to the first effected key frame using the buttons in the Graph windows 6. Click on the point on the curve and drag UP slightly until the knee snaps into place 7. Repeat steps 5 & 6 for other problem key frames Brian

Jack, I do all my shopping for pieces parts (memory, hard drives, etc.) at Price Watch. But be warned: just because a computer has to sockets does not mean it will handle 2 GB! Many boards max out at 1 or 1.5 Gb. BrianThread: Walk Designer help needed | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Here's from the Poser Forum FAQ, see the link above: Q: Why do the knees sometimes lock when I use the Walk Designer with my figure? A: This is known as "Gimbal Lock". It occurs when Poser has to bend two body parts (thigh&shin) that are aligned in a straight line. If two body parts are relatively straight. Poser doesn't know which direction to bend them and it takes a few milliseconds for it to figure it out. Producing a weird little glitch every time it tries to bend them. You can get rid of this by helping Poser decide how to bend the legs by selecting the HIP of the figure in the first frame of your animation. Then translate it down a little so the knees bend slightly.
Thread: Path for Carrara Studio 2.0 | Forum: Carrara
One thing that I noticed still happens after the first patch: 1. Drop a spline object into the scene 2. The Working box control will allow you to hide planes in the Model room 3. Go back to the Assemble room 4. Drop another spline object into the scene 5. The Working box control will no longer allow you to hide/show planes in the Model room - it is still controlling the Working Box in the Assemble room. This is a relatively minor issue, but should be easy to correct. Brian
Thread: Anybody having trouble with DAZ store | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Mitch, I'm sorry I don't have any concrete answers for you :( I seem to remember something in the old store about download problems with MSIE 5.5, but I don't remember what it was. I am using MSIE 6.0 and haven't had any trouble downloading. MSIE 6.0 is a free download from Microsoft's site, though if you're using a modem line it would be a very long download. Brian
Thread: Anybody having trouble with DAZ store | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have experienced some difficulties with the new DAZ3D store, but overall I like the new software much better. Like everything else it will take a little time for DAZ3D to get all of the problems worked out. I use this URL to get to the store: http://store.daz3d.com It seems to work a little better that way as far as the menus and icons go. And of course, a little patience goes a long way! :) Brian

Thread: A Question About the New Poser 5 EULA | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Would it then also be a violation of the EULA to write a plug-in for another program (such as Carrara Studio) that imports Poser 5 characters and props? I wonder also what effect this will have on the creators of Vue d'Espirit and World Builder, both of which can import Poser scenes and animations now?

Thread: Mimic purchasers - got the voucher? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Log in to DAZ3D's store, then click on the "Account" icon on the top. At the bottom of the page it will say "Available Credits" and "Claim Gift Certificates from the old store (by key)". And I also received mine in the e-mail from DAZ3D immediately after purchase. Brian
Thread: Pentium 4 or Athlon which one is better? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
In my humble opinion, Athlon is an all around better processor. The price/performance ratio is better, especially when combining an Athlon XP and Windows XP. And if you can afford it, I recommend 512 MB of DDR RAM (such as PC2100). Poser 4 runs very nicely on the Athlon PC I have at the house. Brian
