MaskimXul, as another way to work around your issue while waiting for a fix, how about the square fix?
Put a square prop in the background of your scene, and apply the image you want to use as a background to it as a texture. That's how I always put in background images. Then you can save it as a PNG, and it won't remove the background.
Definitely follow nerd's advice though. Submit the bug report. I advise everyone to do that when they have a problem. They can't fix it if they don't know it's broken.

An old favourite, you have to remember to press return at the end of the last line of code, otherwise you get this suprious "Syntax Error" report.
DOH! Yes, you're right! I totally forgot about that. It's obviously been quite a while since the last time I wrote some Python code.

Sealtm2, no one is discounting that you have genuine issues. However, the problem being identified is the issue where people complain for 3 months that the software is full of bugs, then a service release comes out, and people get mad about having to install it.
No one is saying anyone should or shouldn't install anything. If you are doing okay without a patch, then there's zero reason to install it. The patches are released to fix problems that people have reported. If you're not one of those people, then there's no reason to even think about the patch.
I run into issues sometimes, and I report them. Sometimes their fix is included in a service release. Sometimes not. Usually when they aren't, it turns out it is a problem specific to me. No harm, no foul.
All I'm saying is it can't go both ways. Either there are no patches released, and everyone lives with what they've got, or e-F puts out patches that hopefully solve the problems without creating new ones. It's one or the other. But people can't complain about both. (Not accusing you of said behavior.)

You'd probably get better answers in the Freestuff forum, but let me just say, that figure looks awesome!

Heh, hey TrekkieGrrl, were you reading my post in the Poser 8 Wishlist thread? LoL.
Totally agreed. I'm happy that e-F is still working on P7. They could be halfway done with 8 right now if they wanted to ignore the current user base. However, they're still going through the process of fixing and testing. I, for one, appreciate the effort.
Thread: Is it too early? Wish List for Poser 8 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I'm certainly not complaining, but this was a "wish list"--so I was making wishes for what I wanted. I'm glad that Poser is affordable, I couldn't afford Lightwave and Maya even if I wanted them. In fact those who use the high end package criticize Poser for being junk because we don't pay $2000 for it. I'm glad that 3D prices have come down, it makes it possible for me to persue a hobby that I love. Daz does a lot to give their customers affordable products, some people have complained that lower prices denegrate their favorite programs, I don't believe that in the least.
I've gotten every version of Poser since Poser 4 and I'm sure I'll continue to support it (with exception of Figure Artist and the repackaged P4 that they put out prior to that).

Sorry tomsde, I wasn't throwing that second half at you. That's why I included the dashes break, to put a seperation between my response to you and a general response. Sorry if you thought I meant that in reference to you.
I hope I didn't come off wrong responding to your point about DX vs OGL. It was only meant to answer you, not at all to attack what you said. I just sincerely believe it would make poor economic sense for E-Frontier to develop on more than one platform, and the result would be a higher cost to us.
Hope there's no hard feelings.
Thread: Is it too early? Wish List for Poser 8 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think before you see e-Frontier support OpenGL on Macs, and DX on Windows, you'd see Poser go solely to PC, and Mac users would lose thier app.
Keep in mind, Poser is a relatively cheap application for all the bells and whistles contained. People like to point out it's perceived "flaws" but overall, how much do they pack into a package that doesn't even cost $300USD?
We've got realistic cloth and hair. We've got a helluva shader system. We've got a pretty decent renderer. A face room that does work. A sketching renderer. Multiple file support. Python scripting built in. Sure, all of these things can do for some improvement, but seriously, what would these features cost you in one of the hardcore 3D apps?
It can't be expected that e-F would develop two wholly seperate applications for two user bases, especially when the Mac base is probably not all that huge. I have no idea what the statistics are, but I'm pretty sure that there are far more Mac users working in higher-level applications than Poser. Unless there are almost an equal number of Poser Mac users as Windows users, it makes no sense to develop seperate code on two different platforms when there is one development environment that serves both.
It never ceases to amaze me how many complaints I see. The makers of our favorite app have a business to run. Rather than demanding they develop for differing platforms, when it may not be economically viable, I'd rather they concentrated on developing a more robust suite at the same price target, and the consistent bug fixes they release. (But then again, there's a thread complaining about the latest service release too. Seems no matter what the devs do, they'll always displease someone.)
So let me ask all of you. Did you fill out the e-Frontier survey? They even included an area at the end where you can write in your wishlist ideas for future development of Poser. I did mine, and I'm willing to bet if a thousand people filled out the survey besides me, there'd be 999 answers that looked different than mine.
I've had the pleasure of getting to know some e-F people over the past couple years, and I've got to say, they are a classy bunch. They honestly care about the software, and the user base. It drives me nuts to see people dog the things they do. (And no, I don't work for them, nor do I make any money from them. I've just had the chance to get to know some of them.)

I'm attaching another version. It will process each render seperately, and save them to C:Poser_Renders, and inside that folder, there will be folders with the time the script is started. Inside any of those folders will be a number of rendered images, based on the processing of this script. (Sorry, I don't have time to test this, and I'm on my way to work, but this should work okay.)

changes in the readme .... no, skipping isn't worth it. The next
one will somehow manage to require this one to be installed first.

Not really a feature release. It's just a hidden bug fixer. It's worth the time to install.

I've copied the text and attached it to this post. If someone downloads it, make sure you change the .txt extension to .py
Thanks Ockham!

Quote - hmmm, it appears to be the very same ZIP as the rpevious one... both files inside have the same modified date, and they do exactly the same as they did before... and the names inside the zip are exactly the same and not longer...
maybe I have the file cached in my system?? I refreshed everything and dnloaded it with a different name., but keep getting the same files over and over...
Â
It shouldn't be. I downloaded it, and it's different for me. There should be 3 files in the zip instead of 2.
Thread: Python script: hide everything BUT?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Great work Ockham. "HideAllButThisFigureAndAttached.py" is the base of the script I was once trying to write. The only addition I wanted to make is to cycle through each figure/prop in the scene, and render each as the only visible object, one at a time. Sort of a Render Passes script, but not dealing with lights.
If I have some spare time, I'll work on modifying the script to do this. (If you don't mind of course.) No promises though, all.
Thread: Python script: hide everything BUT?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - ah, it was definately an awesome script, but it didn't really do what I was looking for... still pretty nifty, though...
I set up a spaship interior with 39 figures (and not counting the props most of those figures have)... so my ideal would be, say, clicking on one wall that I want to render, close up on it, then click on the "hide all figures and props except for the figure selected and its props" and then wham! all 38 figures would hide and presto...
thanks again, of course... I'll keep checking on this
I understand exactly what you're looking for. I tried to sit down and write this script once before. However, the issue is being able to cycle through everything in the scene.
Poser makes it easy to work with the currently selected actor (figure/prop.) Trying to cycle through each individual actor in the scene gets a bit tricky. You can cycle through the actors (or better yet, the figures,)Â method of the scene, then cycle through that actor's children perhaps? (Would that give you the props associated with the current actor?)
I don't know how this would work in the end though. There is a SetOnOff method for figures, but not for actors. I think that's where I hit a snag in the past. (Honestly, it's been about a year since I attempted this script, so I really don't remember.)
Thread: INJ and REM tutorial??!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Okay, I think I understand what your problem is, but I could be wrong. Here's my answer to the question I think you're asking.
You purchased the V3 morphs. You want to apply them. No problem. Go to the Poses folder, and navigate into the directory where they are. (I can't recall the exact structure ATM, and I'm at work.)
For each of the morphs you want to enable, load the INJ. (Make sure V3 is the selected figure before each INJection.)
That should pop up a bunch of new dials for the body parts that were INJected. (There is an INJ for all body parts at once if you're just going to do them all anyway.)
Once loaded, you can spin the dials till carpal tunnel sets in, and your skin turns a pale shade of yellow.
Now you might be thinking these packs automatically INJect certain "looks," but they don't. They only make the dials accessable. There are many free characters around, especially here on 'Rosity, that will autospin those dials for you. However, simply loading the Daz morph INJectors does not give you a new look from the default V3 you get when you load her.
As for the REM poses, you only use those to REMove morphs. For example, if you load all the morphs, and only spin, say, the arms and breasts, you can REMove the INJections for the legs, abs, whatever. (Keep in mind, I don't recall how the morphs are grouped, so I'm just giving examples.)
Hope this helps!

Did you take the survey? It's definitely not too early for the P8 wishlist. I'm willing to bet if development hasn't already begun, it will be within the next month or two.
Oh, and Poser doesn't lock up. Your computer just handle the raw awesomeness of the application. Don't fret, no one's can.
