I've had lots of problems with Vue5 lately; specifically, multiple crashes when trying to "load plant species." E-on has been more than helpful, supplying strange new patches and suggesting fixes, and it's a little better now, but I still hold my breath when I try to load a new plant. This is on a G4 with 1.25 GHz Powerlogix upgrade, 10.3.8. At least the app saves a copy of the crashing document if I forget to. Oh, well, Vue5 Infinity-and-Beyond is on the UPS truck as we speak; that'll be a whole new can of worms! all the best from PDG (texboy)

For one thing, the modern Mac rarely, if ever, crashes; if an app craps out, it doesn't bring the whole system down with it. Poser 5 is lightning-fast on my G4 laptop (1.25 GHz), stable as a rock, and looks mighty pretty. And if you want to add a peripheral or a new hard drive, you don't have to spend a week on the phone with some guy in India, hashing out the .exes and other PeeCee esoterica. But they're not for everyone; de gustibus non est disputandum.

Best solution: get a Mac laptop. No foolishness about multiple copies of operating system or software. Problem solved.

Mark, I've been seeing some strange actions, too, mainly in the form of importing Poser 5 figures without poses applied. Just now, Vue crashed twice while looking for a texture (???). Still seems buggy, though at least it CAN load a Poser 5 file when it wants to. G4 1.25 MHz,1 gig RAM, 10.3.3 good luck, Paul (texboy)

Sehr geehrter Herr Kollege! The same sort of thing has happened to me; every time I would click on the Poses tab, crash. This was after adding a set of poses bought here on Renderosity, which may or may not be the cause. I finally re-installed Poser 5 on another drive, and it seems to have stabilized. I'm careful about the Poses tab, mostly using the drop-down list rather than the full view. My system is much the same as yours, except for OS 10.3 and 1.25 GHz. Glk auf! Paul (texboy)

58 years old this coming July, whippersnapper! I've been using Poser since it first came out on a fistful of floppies, whenever that was. My first computer (after the Timex Sinclair, built from a kit) was an Apple //e in 1983, and I'm happy to say I've never owned a PeeCee, nor do I associate with anyone who does. Just kidding!

Morph Manager 4.0 is available in Freestuff; kinda old (2002) and for PeeCee only (yuck), but it's there; good question! texboy

If you're using Poser 5, you can render at thumbnail size (91x91, or even better, 91x150), save it as a PNG directly into the Figure folder (or other one), and get a custom thumbnail in a heartbeat. Nice bkgrounds like Cyclorama photo paper look best.

Mac G4 (1.25 GHz PowerLogix), OS X 10.3.2, 1 GB RAM, never locks up or fails to please. Buy a Mac!
