just putting things straight. the problem described is with the textures, not the program or the company that produces it.
i do not defend the company if something is their fault, but i do not like people blaming the program or the company for something that is not there fault . stating that the problem is caused by the program or company without any base in facts is just wrong. especially when the OP said the problem was with the textures.
joelglaine mentioned that he has problems with texture filtering, and he uses Poser.
so how can anyone say the problem is just with DAZ3D or DazStudio?
as i stated before, DAZ3D do not make textures!
just noticed that the OP is using an Elite texture, these are not set up for Poser. the textures were designed to work with omnifreakers HSS for the best results. of course, HSS does not work in Poser.
Thread: why is texture filtering on the DAZ figures an issue these days? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
the point is that the texture filtering tool does what it says, the problem lies in the textures that the texture makers have made, not the program or DAZ3D, the company.
so don't have a dig at the company.
as a company their quality control on products submitted to the store is far higher than most of the other Poser content marketplaces.

just a point of info :> DAZ3D the company does NOT actually author any textures or content products, so they HAVE NOT got texture filtering wrong. the same people who make textures for Poser make them for use in DazStudio as well, the only difference is in the shader set-up. the textures ( .jpeg, .png etc) are identical.
so please don't blame a particular marketplace for the perceived shortcomings of content author/producers.
quite often the same content is sold at various market places, and it is rather unfair to point the finger at only one.

bagginsbill, i agree that the feature in DS3 is useless as it is. it is a pain having to adjust it all the time, especially when using AO as in the Uberlight sets.
if it will fit here , this is a comparison of the same skin texture at various settings.
no gamma was rendered in DS2, everything else at the same settings, shade rate, ray trace etc.lighting identical.

i feel i need to pop in here.
GC is a great tool, DS3 has it now as part of the advanced render settings, unfortunately most textures( skin especially ) have already been Gamma Corrected in a paint program by the developer, so the added GC in the render has a tendency to screw up all the subtle tones and shadows, making them far too light. this is really noticeable if you are using a dark skin tone and can spoil the image considerably.
when content developers start producing textures that are not already GC, it will be a very useful addition.
has it stands now i have to turn GC down to 0.75 if i want to render a dark skin tone, and it can still be too light.

no, the Content Manager database has to be built by the user. that is why, if you are in either of the category views, that all new content shows up in the 'unassigned' category after a scan for content..
it has been designed for users to set up their content any way that they like to work with.
you can create categories and name them anything you like. it is not a strict heirarchy like the Poser runtime. also it does not physically move any files on the hard-drive.as i said in my previous post you can view the content in more of a Poser layout in the 'view folder as' content views.
any database has to have its data put into the correct categories, usually by an operator.
i do not personally know any other way of inputting data into a data base.
spreadsheets may be able to auto sort chunks of data, i do not know, i have never used a spreadsheet.
even with the standard Poser runtimes, you have to make sure, yourself, that the installed files go into the correct folder, and you set up the runtimes to suit your workflow.
in the database you can have all files that relate to an item, whether it be a prop, texture set , or clothing set for instance i have Dementia by ValDart and all the texture sets plus props, and the character set. all in the same category, so everything is in one place. with Poser, as i understand it, you would have to have a dedicated runtime to do the same, where you would have to manually drag and drop all the various files into there respective folder inside the runtime or make sure the paths are right when you point your installer or unzip a clothingprop set etc.

change your content browser view to either 'view folders as list' or 'view folders as tree'
when the content pane is open(in font of the scene pane) at the top right is a down pointing arrow, click on that to get your choces of how you view the content.
sorry if this sounds condescending, but i do not know how much experience you have with the Studio interface.
either view will show exactly how the folders in the runtime are on the hard-drive.
if the Content Manager is not to your taste you can rearrange the folders how you would like , as long as you stay within the constraints of a Poser type runtime.
only caveat is that DS specific content should be kept in the main content folder, although certain files can be kept in the same folder as poser ones of the same file name, and DS will automatically load its own file when you double click on something to load it into the scene, ie material settings.
hope this helps.
Thread: DAZ Studio 3.0's been announced...what are your thoughts? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
have used the betas and will be very happy when all the extas LDP2, Uber+ etc are ported over to DS3.
impressed with faster rendering and loading of saved scenes, and the camera, + light pointer bit is very useful.
will probably hang back on getting the 'pro' version, especially if all my shader sets are updated to DS3.

Thread: Question about Morphing Cloth program | Forum: DAZ|Studio
if you have the basic figure tools for D/S, you could load your character, inject morphs and export as a new .cr2( put it into the Daz People folder in the characters folder in the runtime libraries) and then load that as the donor cr2 in Morphing Clothes. a very good complement to Morphing Clothes is the Crossdresser app available from EvilInnocence. you have to buy a licence for each figure you want to convert 'to', but all the 'from' side is free

this sort of thing sucks big time, ordinary hardworking joes get took to the cleaners and the high-ups in the banks trouser huge bonuses for screwing up the economy.
the banks have been bailed out with billions of £'s and $'s and they still will not help those ordinary people to keep their homes by giving a bit of leeway or lend to small businesses whose cashflow has stalled due to the banks screwing everything up.
i consider my self very lucky in that when my father passed on the insurance payed the mortgage off on our home.( although in would sooner have him around still)
the worst thing about all this is that the ordinary taxpayer is footing the bill for all this, and will be paying it by way of increased taxes and decreased services for years to come.
