Clay:"You can turn all those options off tjohn, for comments, e-mail and ratings. I've been hacked on too, so don't feel alone, it just part of the artistic way :-)" Yeah, but I WANT the honest feedback from the artists here...I do think it helps to improve my chops, so to speak. The hacking is coming from non-artists (at least, they never seem to have any art posted when you try to check out THEIR galleries). I'm amazed that some people with an interest in art are so shallow. The least that human beings can do is be CIVIL to one another, don't you think? JohnPenn: I have to respectfully disagree. The new ratings are much closer to reality. Did anyone with real taste in art ever look at the Mona Lisa and say: "I give it a 10! Woo-hoo!"? (Maybe Homer Simpson):^). But comments like "Excellent", "Great" have been used many times. Using a 10 scale makes as much sense to me as using thumbs up, thumbs down-it just doesn't seem appropriate when critiquing art. Thanks to all for your comments. :^)

Thread: Ice Cube in Bryce 5 | Forum: Bryce
Jimi: The water drops have the same texture as the cube. Should have changed it to a water texture. Oh well, it's just a texture test pic. :^). Everybody: Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated.

Ulp...sorry I always get seasick. I can't figure out if you honestly don't know how good this is or if you're just pretending to be humble. This is very, very good.

Thread: Bryce 6 info from Corel | Forum: Bryce
I wonder why the people from Corel can't just make it public knowledge about changes they are planning to make. What harm would it do to say, "we plan on supporting these operating systems, not these." Then give an outlet for opinions at their website directly from their customers...us! Shouldn't input from us matter to them? This could work in other changes, such as faster rendering times (oh please oh please oh please), exportable objects (at least we wouldn't have yet another thread on this), etc. I know they use alpha and beta testers, but wouldn't getting a wider opinion base be win-win for them? Do they lose money by giving us info? Are there competitive products out there that are so similar that Corel fears any innovations will be stolen by them and put on the market before theirs are released? Seems unlikely. All this secrecy confuses me. The more you have your finger on the pulse of your end user, the better off you are. It just makes good business sense.

Thread: Thick, puffy clouds. | Forum: Bryce
You might try sizing your sphere into a more oval shape. This can make the cloud look more natural and less rounded.

Thread: Bryce touchiness with Word running? | Forum: Bryce
I find that Bryce works best when run alone. I think it utilizes 100% of available memory and doesn't like to share. :^) I usually watch TV while rendering. About the only program I run at the same time is Poser, and it tends to flake out sometimes.

Thread: What's a good way to learn Bryce? | Forum: Bryce
RTM... read the manual. It has lots of easy tutorials to get you started. As you advance, there are more advanced tutorials available here and all over the web. Like the others have said above, play and experiment. The more you use Bryce, the more you will learn. Hope you enjoy Bryce as much as I do. :^)

Thread: HDRI some of my examples tell me which textures look best. | Forum: Bryce
Maybe the bronze would look more natural by turning the reflections and spectral highlights almost off. The real-life bronzes I've seen weren't all that shiny or reflective. Love the statue object!

Thread: Continueing Render to disk...How Too? | Forum: Bryce
Yep, I'm afraid Aldaron is correct. The only way to do what you want is render on screen. When ready to stop, stop rendering by left clicking anywhere except on the pic. Then save (make sure you have the save pic with file option on. When you're ready to resume, load the file and push the resume render button (first one to the right of the big render button).

Thread: Sky Lab - Fog vs. Haze | Forum: Bryce
I forgot to say that if you have more than one of these fog spheres in your scene, be careful not to let them overlap each other, because it will cause some weird "artifacting" to show up where the overlap occurs. :^)

Wow, this is very nice. So this was what you had in mind. Is each petal a mapped sphere going through a size change? Amazing that you could picture this in your mind. Way beyond my capacities.
